Here's what's great about DIII and ODAC: My son played for four years at VWC and had a good career there. Then he went on to spend some time with the Harlem Globetrotter organization - both a good experience and a real learning experience. Now he's working for Wells Fargo putting his education to use and playing basketball on the weekends in a very competitive league. A couple of times he's been up against Kevin Pittsnogle and has banged with him inside. DIII and ODAC is havin' fun, and Pete's still havin' a blast, something he can do for a long time. ;D
Best wishes to your son!  I'm a bit surprised Pittsnogle didn't stick in the pros, but I think he had a thyroid condition and is now back in WV.  I bet he's still more than a handful in rec league ball!

I totally understand; hopefully the Tigers will be so good next year that you'll have no choice but to come !!!!!

Have a great Summer; football will be here before you know it.

I'll make it to Fleet at some point ... the Quakers and the Tigers have played some intense games for years.  Actually, I'd like to see a game in every ODAC venue ... call it part of my "bucket list."  :)

Speaking of football, the playing surface at Guilford's Armfield Stadium's "all tore up."  A campus official told me the new turf had to be ready for a 500-girl soccer camp in early July.  I hope you have a great summer as well!

It has been confirmed that Eli Crawford is transferring to EMU as well as Luke Holloran.  I believe Holloran started his college career at VMI playing football but has decided to play basketball for Coach Dean.

Any other recruiting news?

I've heard Guilford has commitments from another very tall center (NC) and a quick, good-shooting guard from out-of-state.  The word is they're both players you don't usually expect to land in DIII.  Guilford lost George Neville and Mat Stanley to graduation, but look for the Quakers to be very strong in 2009-10.  Starters Sanborn, Henson and Bonner return along with all the reserves.

According to this article it is not official, but Eli Crawford has applied to EMU and will play there if admitted.  If this kid has turned the corner with his academic struggles, it is a great story and he will provide EMU with an even more potent backcourt.

EMU will have its best team since Leonard Dow played there in the 1980's next season.

Sounds like EMU is well on its way. It will be interesting to see if they are able to beat GC,VWC, RMC, the usual big timers in the ODAC.

I've heard nothing about recruits/transfers coming to HSC. Does anyone have information regarding new talent enrolling this Fall ?

Rumor - I heard recently that Shenandoah University has been admitted to ODAC for football. Don't know any dates. Will other ODAC sports be far behind in their future?

Interesting.  Would this make the ODAC an 8-team league or does it pave the way for someone (CUA?) to bolt and still leave the ODAC with the AQ-minimum seven?

One of HSC's best players describes the incoming class as tremendous, one of the best class of recruits that HSC has gotten in years, a class that's going to make a name for itself!

The Tigers have some very solid players returning .... First Team All-ODAC Turner King, plus Shane Payne, Ben Jessee, Jonathan Mudd, Carlis Trops, Lane Medlin, Colin O'Neill, and 5 others .... plus five incoming guys about which I have some info (plus some others about whom I don't have info):

Randall Ward, a 6'0" point guard from John Marshall, who scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, in a state semifinal loss to William Fleming this year.  Ward was Second Team Richmond All-Metro -

Yes, sounds as though the Tigers are bringing in a great class!

Regarding Harrison George, Leesville Road is a Raleigh HS.  Too bad the article's writer didn't know George's college choice isn't spelled "Hampton Sydney".  :(

While in Salem, OR today, I drove through the campus of Willamette University.  A very nice looking school.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like Coach Vick and his staff have been busy. I look forward to watching him rebuild the program. I have no doubts he will be successful doing so.

Good grief, hasn't Turner King graduated yet?  He's been giving everybody trouble for years!
Those returners sound good, and the freshmen sound just great.

For Guilford, I've also heard about the recruits Hasnova mentioned, the large big guy and the flat-out good guard, so HSC shouldn't be able to blow Guilford off the court.

Have a great trip, Hasanova.
