Thanks, sludge.  In addition to Willamette University, I also drove through Linfield College in McMinnville, OR today ... another nice looking school.  If any of you are ever in the area, go by the Evergreen Aviation Museum ... among other things, I saw Howard Hughes' lengendary "Spruce Goose" today.  Some of you may have seen his story in the movie The Aviator.  The plane is huge!

Thanks for the BC recruiting update, Jeremybozz.  +1 for you.  Sounds as though the Eagles have some good players joining the team.  Interesting to see Guilford was also in the mix for some of these Virginia-based HS players.

sludge, et al - what have you heard about '09-'10 Guilford hoops?

New players?
Everyone returning?
Where are returnees playing (camping) this summer?
Who's improving the most this summer?
Schedule?
Potential preseason rank?

"Inquiring minds want to know!"  :)

Also, anything to report from the other ODAC 10?  I'm always interested in the whole league!

#44 got married on Saturday to Ashley, his long time sweetheart ;D. They are honeymooning in Costa Rica! Attending the wedding from the Marlins of the past were Justin Blazer; Dave Doino and his wife, the former Lauren Rector; Bill Gobble and his wife Jessica, and Bryan Wintermantel and his wife.  Coach Macedo could not attend but did relay the following to me in an e-mail: "recruiting is not over for us yet, we are still waiting to hear from some kids; we have landed some nice players and look forward to the new season. We will be young again."

Congratulations to your son and daughter-in-law.  May they have many winning seasons.  :)

I always fear the fish, whether they're young or not!  I'm looking for a very competitive ODAC season in '09-'10.

Hi, Hasanova and all.  Mainly I've been hearing about Josh Pittman coming in at Guilford, a point guard who can apparently really play.

Heard he has maybe Henson-like skills, as a freshman.

Henson like conditioning?  That would be a big surprise.

Thanks, sludge ... sounds like a nice addition for the Quakers.  I know one other name, but hesitate to mention him until I see an announcement of some sort from the school.

Not a d3hoops issue, but I watched the Cavaliers finally give their CWS game to the Razorbacks last night in the 12th.  What a shame ... give up a two-run homer with 2 outs in the 9th, have a man on 3rd in every extra inning and all the base-running blunders.  Not to mention the phantom strike call by the ump that should have forced in the winning run with the bases loaded.  What a way to be eliminated!

Anyway, a great season for UVa, but a bitter way, I'm sure, to spend the summer.

Jeff Jones and American better not take RMC lightly.

 Bridgewater's "tentative" schedule:
www.bridgewater.edu/Athletics/AthleticTeams/BasketballM/ScheduleAndResults
The Eagles will face Coastal Carolina and Coach Cliff Ellis (the former Clemson and Auburn coach who is 29th in wins all time in Divisiion I) on December 12.

I noticed the RMC schedule; I absolutely do not understand why RMC vs. HSC @ HSC is played when the student body is away on Xmas break.
Makes no sense; not fair to the team nor to the student body. Hopefully this can be avoided in the future !!!!!

TFA,

I understand your frustation (and share in it), but remember that RMC had the same issue last season when we played Macon at Macon on January 7.  (They may have actually had some students there due to J-term, I'm not sure.)  If the league is going to determine which teams schools have rivalry's with, then they should attempt (because it is easier said than done) to have a rivalry week where the rivalry games take place and all of the schools are in session.  Early January is a perfect time to make long trips.  For instance, VWC would be better served to travel to E&H early in January before the new semester got under way.

Of course, no matter what is done, we will never be able to satisfy everyone.  I know that I am going through basketball and football withdrawal right now!  Hope all are doing well.  TTYL.
