Yesterday, on their website, H-SC announced Shane Payne will be transferring.  The statement said he needed to be closer to home to deal with some personal issues.  Certainly, he needs to make decisions based on what he thinks is best for him.  Fomr a basketball standpoint, however, this is a blow to the Tigers.

Thanks for the info Eagleslam.  Sorry to hear that Shane is not going to be back because he played the game hard and gave everything that he had.  Coach is going to have to have another player step in and give that effort and hustle.  I wish Shane all the best and hope that everything works out for him!

Don't be fooled by the modesty in the article. It pains me to say this as a BC fan but this is EMU's best recruit since Leonard Dow came to Harrisonburg from Philadelphia 25 years ago.
Eli has 2 years left. I expect EMU to be a top 4 ODAC team in 2010 and an ODAC title contender in 2011.

I was just getting ready to post that too.  Looks like a good one for Coach Dean!  Also an update on Leonard Dow.  He is an amazing man.  He serves as pastor of Oxford Circle Mennonite Church in North Philly and is involved in a large number of other efforts in that part of the city.  He and his wife Rosalie (also played at EMU) are top-notch people!

Very nice!  Good for EMU and good for the ODAC.

Awesome!
Leonard is the best Royals player I have seen in 27 years of watching ODAC hoops but he and his wife may be even more amazing people.

Man, football practice has just begun, but I wish there was a basketball game tomorrow!  Doubly frustrating when our schedule hasn't been released yet!  :)

EMU is loaded with new men's hoops talent. If the chemistry is right, the Royals could be special over the next 2 years.

HSC's incoming class may be one of the best set of recruits HSC has gotten in years.  This is what I posted in May (with a few edits):

-----------------------------------------

The Tigers have some very solid players returning .... First Team All-ODAC Turner King, plus Ben Jessee, Jonathan Mudd, Carlis Trops, Lane Medlin, Colin O'Neill, and 5 others ....

-----------------------------------------

There are five incoming guys about which I have some info:

Randall Ward, a 6'0" point guard from John Marshall, who scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, in a state semifinal loss to William Fleming this year.  Ward was Second Team Richmond All-Metro -

Steve Sherwood, a 6'3" 2-time Bay Rivers District Player of the Year from Tabb High.  This year, he was Group AA 2nd Team All-State and averaged 19.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in leading his team to the state quarterfinals  -

Patrick Corrigan - a 6' 1" point guard from Collegiate

There are other recruits about which I've heard some good stuff but don't have names, including a 6'8" international student.  Should be a great season!
