I too agree that Guilford probably should have been #2 having beaten J.C. head-to-head last year. However that didn't surprise me nearly as much as RMC being #18. You graduate hands down your best player (the POY in the conference) AND you lose your head coach? I just don't see them being the 18th best team in the country. However with that said, D3 just doesn't have enough resources or media outlets to gather up enough up-to-date info to put together an accurate Top 25. I think as you get down to the lower part of the Top 25, you are getting rankings based more on school name and traditional success (both of which RMC has) as opposed to how good they really are at this current time. After all, in D3 all you know is which players teams lost – no one is positive as to how good incoming players that schools bring in really are.

Agreed, RMC may not be a top 20 team with a new coach and graduated POY, but they're also not a #5 or #6 team in the ODAC either, as many here are predicting.  I believe that every single player returns, which is difficult in DIII given personal reasons, cost, playing time, academic devotions, etc.  To my knowledge, that's rare at RMC and other ODAC schools as you surely lose someone from season to season.  It's a strong group (thanks to Coach Rhoades) and I think Coach Davis, as one of the family, will not miss a beat in keeping RMC on top!

Hey, help me out here. I'm old and feeble....

RE: DIII All-Star Game featuring DIII seniors THREE HOURS BEFORE THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!! Does that then preclude seniors who are playing in the championship game? What am I missing here? Why is this a good thing? :P

donho

wpspencer22, Wait you want ODAC people to watch out for two juniors and three first year players?

Hey, jww, i just saw the headline on the front of d3hoops myself ... I'm not real keen on it either.  The way I read it, NO seniors from the two finalists would be able to play in the all-star game and one spot from each semifinal loser would be reserved for the all-star teams.  I guess I miss the days of the 3rd place game at all levels (including DI!) and thought DIII had something special by continuing it.  Frankly, I'm disappointed in their decision.

...  But take it from me NO ONE in the ODAC can guard him, too strong and too quick...I gave you the inside scoop first, don't be surprised.

Thanks that's great stuff, great information, and it sounds like a load of fun for EMU.

That last part is an amazing claim.
Too strong?  Nah, Tyler Sanborn won't back down from him.  For absolutely sure.
Too quick?  Nah?  I doubt I'll see him out-quick Hensen.

But too strong AND too quick?  I guess that could happen, actually.
I look forward to it.

Me too.  While I'm disappointed that IWU has lost four semifinal games, I'm intensely proud that they sucked it up and finished third all four times.

But I do understand how players and coaches could see it as horribly anti-climactic.

3, Chuck...4 trips to Salem with a national championship and 3 3rds.

Mr. Ypsi

Q, You're quick! :o

After I hit 'post', I could only remember 3 (4 trips total), but it sure seemed right while I typed it! :-[

The ODAC is now safer and world peace is attainable. The Hornets Athletic Department budget will be balanced on the backs of a few paying fans. Those 8 W&L students may change their mind about making the James River run. ;D
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

donho, Marty, George, Eli and Hinson are juniors and only Boo and Holloran are freshman, but its cool don't take my word for it, the proof is in the pudding, why do you think everyone up here has them to finish 2nd in their predicted order.

Ok, Rhett Bonner or TC Anderson then.  And Henson is stronger than you think.

Please don't take offense but the people on this board don't get too worked up over statements about any DI transfer.  I hope that EMU is competitive this year and that your cousin plays well but we have seen this situation a hundred (if not more) times.  There have been many players who transferred to an ODAC school from DI programs who failed to live up to the hype.

People love labels and being a DI guy sounds great but doesn't make you a better player.  If your cousin comes into the ODAC thinking it won't be extremely competitive then he will surely fail.  There is a laundry list of transfer guys who made that mistake.  Also, almost without fail, any DI transfer who played in the ODAC will tell you that it was far more competitive than they ever imagined.

Agree.  Well said. +1

I want EMU to win bad (see my d3hoops screen name), but I understand that EMU hasn't proved anything this year.  I hope Martin works out for EMU but I already have found some problems with the cousins post.  EMU has him listed as 6-2 and 200 lbs, that is one inch and ten lbs shorter.  That makes me wonder what other facts aren't true.  I hope Martin and the rest of EMU fans and players can let the talking happen by their actions on the court.

GO EMU and Coach Dean!
