Fields 3 at the buzzer was no good. EMU wins 79-76.

Fields' 3 wasn't even close to going in. It was a heave from half court and fell short. Todd Phillips had 29 in the second half and was unstoppable!!!! That is a huge win for the kids and program at EMU. Tough win on the road.. GREAT GAME

Thanks for the clarification. Live Stats initially said Fields shot was good and it was 79-79. It was not.

What a game between EMU and VWC to start the ODAC season! The Marlins led by 9 at the half, but quickly extended there lead to 14 in the early part of the 2nd. EMU went on a tear, largely because of Todd Phillips 29 second half points to put the Runnin' Royals up by as much as 13 with about 4 minutes to play. The Marlins fought back to make the Royals lead only 2, but Phillips hit 3 out of 4 free throws down the stretch to preserve the 3 point victory! Phillips ended the game with 34 points and 12 rebounds! I would think he would be named ODAC POTW. But it was a team effort as the Royals got 10 points and 9 boards from Crawford along with 11 points each from Twine and Hinson. This is only the first of five straight road games for the Runnin' Royals! Lynchburg on Wednesday will be another difficult test. Keep up the good work EMU, but this is only the beginning of a tough ODAC schedule.

I was unclear as well. I had to phone a friend at the game to get the correction...

EMU has played the last 4 games on the road... The were @ BC for a tournament, then off to Ferrum, today at  VWC. Now more time on the road for these guys..... Hopefully they can keep it up!!!

Tigers play their first dIII game this season and come away with a win, beating North Carolina Wesleyan, 90-79.  Ben Jessee scored 20 points, while Turner King and Colin O'Neill added 15 points apiece.  Harrison George, Jonathan Mudd, and Randall Ward were also in double figures.  Great start to the dIII season, after the opening loss to DI High Point last week.  The Tigers play Shenandoah this afternoon.

Sounds like some great games to get the ODAC season going in earnest!  I'm especially impressed with EMU's come-from-behind win at VWC - always a tough place to play!

Preseason #19 R-MC knocks off preseason #7 DeSales today in Ashland by a LOT.  Key YJ contributors (among many) include Danny Jones, Jordan Brown, David Carlson, Eric Pugh, Brandon Braxton and Adam Desgain-- all the Jackets played terrific defense especially in the 1st half.  The Jackets are looking GOOD!

Coach Davis emptied the bench in the last 2 minutes.  Local fave freshman Dylan Cole (Hanover High) scored a layup and a FT to cap off an exciting opening home game win.

GO JACKETS!  Wishing the best of luck to all the terrific ODAC competitors this year!

I wish more teams played non conference games like this..  I understand it really doesn't mean anything since it is a non region game as far as getting in the tournament, but games like this are good for the fans and the confidence of the players.

Wow, great swings back and forth in a lot of those games.  This was a great start to conference play.
And the ODAC keeps looking strong out-of-conference also.
