Randolph at Guilford today at 3 pm.  I can't remember what scheduling conflict kept me from attending last season's game when the WildCats visited Greensboro, so this is my first time seeing these two teams play.  Most Guilford students aren't back until tomorrow, but I hope their collective records, Youth Day and homecoming for Randolph's Derrick Woods-Morrow (Northeast Guilford HS) will all generate a good crowd.  In addition, three other WildCat players hail from NC:  Hunt, Greene and McRorie.  Go Quakers!

One way that works is to drag your cursor to shade the whole link, hit Ctrl and the letter "c" to copy and then Ctrl and the letter "v" to paste here.  It works for me.  :)  Glad the Yellow Jackets are getting the love they deserve in the Richmond area!

Thanks for the tip on Caleb - I'll watch for him today.  I have some friends who moved to Franklin a few years ago, but I've never been there.   Even though I was born and raised in Virginia (Patrick County), my experience in the southeastern part of the state is sadly minimal.

Mr. Ypsi

WOW - Guilford has Randolph tripled up!  63-21 with 12+ to go.  It's no surprise that Guilford is winning, but that margin has got to raise some eyebrows.

ugh -  the fish down 7 at the half beat The Generals by 5
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Lynchburg defeats Bridgewater, 99-78 !! What is going on with the Hornets?!!  They've now got 6 wins on the season, with recent victories over Averett, Christopher Newport, and Bridgewater.  They're not supposed to win more than 2 or 3 games a season!   ;)

The Tigers get another ODAC win against Emory & Henry, winning 89-75.  Freshman Harrison George had 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 13 rebounds, seven assists, five steals and two blocks while not turning the ball over once.  Sophomore Ben Jessee also had 19 points, Turner King got 14 points and 7 rebounds, freshman Randall Ward netted 14 points, and freshman Alex Potapov scored 11 points.  I think our freshman class is the best in the ODAC and that Harrison George has to be seriously considered for FOY.

Jackets win over CNU 80-68.....

Good game start to finish, double digit lead most of the game.  Jackets up 20 and the 3rd string gives up 8 pts to close the game.  Again, Jackets have 5 in double digits and another with 9 pts, hard to defend.  Go Jackets, beat EMU!

I just left Guilford's home game versus Randolph, where the Quakers rendered the WildCats considerably less feral.  To be blunt, GC proved why they're a Top Ten team today, winning 78-42.  As Mr. Ypsi commented, the Quakers jumped on the WildCats early and often, leading by 46-15 at the half and 67-21 with 11:28 to go.  In Randolph's defense, they didn't have the height to compete today and their shooting was off (15/50 for 30%).  I felt a bit sorry for Derrick Woods-Morrow today in his homecoming (Northeast Guilford HS) - it was obvious he had a lot of family and friends on hand and he was scoreless for the day.

Lest anyone think Coach Palombo was trying to pour it on, the starters played 96 of the 200 minutes.  Everyone got in the game with many reserves getting their season highs for minutes.

They certainly won't all be this easy, but Guilford was the dominant team today:

33 of 60 for 55% to Randolph's 30%
Rebounding margin was 46-25

Tyler Sanborn another double-double with 16/18.  Henson 15, Stephenson 12 and Lowder 10 also in double figures.  Shiflett 10 and Colquitt 8 led Randolph.

Guilford improves to 12-1 (3-1), while Randolph falls to 8-5 (2-4).
