EMU now up 77-70, with 1:43 to go.

With 60 seconds to go, the fouling has begun.  If EMU makes their fts, they can't be caught, as they are now up by 9.

Mr. Ypsi

This one's over, but Randolph still fouling down 10 with 20 seconds to go - WHY?

Mr. Ypsi

EMU wins 86-74.  Randolph fouled yet again down 11 with 13 seconds left.  Sometimes you just have to recognize you've been beaten and bow out gracefully! ::)

Now the speculation can begin - will the ODAC be the first conference in the d3hoops.com poll era to have FOUR teams in the top ten simultaneously, or did VaWes lose by too much to remain there?  (Although they were only 18th last week, I've gotta think EMU will jump WAY up.)

EMU escapes with a 86-74 win. EMU did trail by 2 with less than 7 minutes left but held Randolph to just 8 points in the final 6:45 to play. The Royals got to the foul line 47 times and connected on 33. George Johnson was 16-16 from the line and finished with a game high 25. EMU once again did a nice job of taking care of the basketball with only 8 TO's.  Glad to leave with a win! Keep up the good work Royals!

Any predictions on the placements of the ODAC teams for next weeks Top 25 poll? I would guess Guilford to be the highest ranked of the ODAC teams, then RMC, followed by EMU (even though EMU won by 23 on Wednesday I have a tough time seeing RMC dropping enough and EMU climbing the polls enough to take a higher ranking than Macon), and then VWC.

Crenshaw Gym was only 1/2 full today - you lose a game & there goes your fan base!  Still, a good win today with the R-MC freshmen & the 2 seniors off the bench for most of the last 5 minutes of the game.  E & H has some very strong shooters, Cunningham rarely missed a 3 and he put up quite a few.  He looked like an NBA star a few times, as did the dunking duo of Braxton and Brown!

Prior to the 2:00 start there was a rousing alumni game featuring J. Mills, J. Wansley, P. Gill, K. Bergeman, J. Dixon, R. Stein, R. Harris, B. Porapoteck (? sp. --sorry, Buck), J. Brunt (we think) and a few others we can't remember now after a couple of beers.  The home team won, hahaha!  Was great to see all these guys out there again today... thanks guys for all the great games you gave us fans over the years.

We predict Guilford at 1 or 2, RMC at 8, EMU at 9 and VWC at 12 when the next poll comes out.

GO JACKETS!!!

Good win today by Guilford over the Marlins..It was a 1 point game with about 12 minutes left and then Guilford just took over and the Marlins never came back.  Too many turnovers by the Marlins, but Guilford played very well and got the win.  Perhaps a rubber game in the ODAC tournament in  Salem.  We will see. Congratulations also to RMC and EMU for wins today.   I see Guilford  4th, EMU 7th RMC 10th and VWC 13th in the poll on Monday.  Just a guess on my part.

My impressions from the Guilford-Va Wesleyan game today.  This was the first Guilford game I've seen this year.
Guilford did a great job on defense.  VWC's three-pointers never really got on track, and the lane was seriously contested all game.  The 56 points for VWC shows this.
Guilford shots weren't raining in, but we did great in the lane.  Not just Tyler Sanborn; but everyone attacked in the paint.  Guilford functioned much better as a team unit that VWC did today and the substitution timing was terrific.

VWC has some great players with great spirit and they really hustle.  I was glad that Stephen Fields in particular didn't do us in today.  Team organization broke  down in the fourth quarter or maybe a little earlier.  (Perhaps that was due to fatigue, but I'm not sure).  If these guys are coming your way, make no mistake:  they athletic, large, physical, skilled and really good.

VWC will do great in all games where the officials can't spot a walk.

VWC's Coach Macedo allows (instructs?) his team to conduct warm ups partly on the other team's half of the floor.  I don't like it.

Bridgewater beats Hampden Sydney today 64-59

My guess about the rankings is something like this.
GC #1-#3
EMU #5-#8
RMC #6-#9
VWC #9-#12

If I had to guess on a single spot I would say
GC#2
EMU#7
RMC#8
VWC#11

Just a note..The VWC/Guilford game is at 3:30ET today as stated on d3hoops front page and the Guilford web site.  The VWC/Guilford women's games is at 1:30pm ET.
Sorry, but that's incorrect.  I've reported the correct times in this room before - not sure why they're listed as different times in different places.

You could have sent an email or something ...
True.  Sorry I didn't, Pat.  I had sending you an email on my "to do" list one day while I was at work, but my phone rang or something came up and I forgot until today.  Mea culpa.

FYI - Number 4 UW-W just lost - their second loss of the season - so ... combined with losses this week by #1 RMC (23 points), #3 Washington U (their second) and #5 St. Thomas (also their second), I think Guilford will move into the #2 slot next week behind projected #1 UW-Steven Point.  Just a hunch.

I stated this earlier, but Guilford appears to be playing as well as any DIII men's team in nation at the moment.  I thought they should have been #2 in the preseason poll and their play 15 games into the regular season is bearing that out.

Roanoke just nipped W&L in Salem, 60-59.

I know it was against one of the lower teams but the Jackets win yesterday counts for a good bounce back. I have seen on this board for the past ten years that  any ODAC win is a good win! Well we got one yesterday. Where the hell are all the R-MC posters??? ( not you 2rmcfans) So EMU beat us! I have been saying all year that we have been over-ranked. Wednesday  night was gonna happen . Let's hope the team keeps moving forward and turns into a darn good team by the time they get to Salem. Go Jackets!

Just looked at the R-MC schedule. No regular season rematch with EMU, but two games still to come against VWC, one against Guliford at home, and the rematch with H-SC, at home as well. Those are the interesting games, but every game matters so I hope the Jackets can produce a lot more Ws between now and ODAC tournament time, then maybe another shot at EMU. That would be fun.
