Actually Nova I am not in Ashland much anymore, therefore I could not give you any good places to eat. Sorry perhaps someone else will jump in and help out.
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

RMC alumnus jacketlawyer suggested Smokey Pig and Iron Horse.  I've been talking to some folks in the Alumni Office at Guilford and we're now leaning more towards a postgame reception - I guess we'll have to take our chances on whether we're celebrating or crying in our beer!

The Pig is great for a casual bar b q dinner and a beer with reasonable prices.

The IronHorse is definitely more upscale with corresponding higher prices.  http://www.ironhorserestaurant.com/

If you like Italian - Anthony's Pizza Restaurant can't be beat for taste and price. It's in the strip mall on the northeast corner of Rt 1 and Rt 54.

There's also the Henry Clay Inn for a touch of history as well, but again a little pricey.  http://www.henryclayinn.com/history/index.html

Homemades by Suzannes is great too, but if you're talking an evening gig, I don't think they will be open.

There is a Cracker Barrel too if that's what you really want.  It's easy to see from the interstate, and is right off the Ashland/RMC exit.

Here's a pretty comprehensive list of just about everything from Micky D's to Mexican.  Should give you plenty to consider.  http://www.town.ashland.va.us/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={36CC14EE-DA12-43A5-940B-A8F6F9BD9627}

Good luck.

Thanks so much.   I'm starting to get some pretty good ideas!

Mr. Ypsi

FWIW, I've now put up the Posters' Poll.  Guilford beat out EMU by one point for 2nd, Randy Mac was 5th, VaWes was 9th.  In the four year history of the PP, the ODAC is the first conference ever with four teams in the top ten.  Congratulations!

Thanks, Mr. Ypsi, that's good to know!

Hasanova - there are both Ruby Tuesdays and Applebees right off 54W, on your left from the 95 exit, as you head toward the college.

GO JACKETS!!!

Thanks!  Looking at a map - it looks as though RMC is on the west side of I-95.  If I get off I-95 at Exit 92 (Hwy 54), how far is it from the interstate to Henry Street?

From your description, it sounds as though the Ruby Tuesdays and Applebees are both between I-95 and the college along the Hwy 54 corridor, so really easy to find.

^ it's a straight shot from the interstate west on 54 to Henry Street, total of about 1 mile from 95 to college entrance.

(You'll see those 2 chain restaurants on your left shortly after you get off 95 ... then Henry Street will be after Rte 1, on the right, just across from the Post Office, about 1/2 mile farther W on 54.)

Thanks.  Looks pretty straightforward to me.  If we were at the Iron Horse, is it within walking distance of Crenshaw?   Also, what's the parking situation at Crenshaw when a game's sold out.

Hasa-There's parking across the tracks from the Brock Center and there's lots of parking everywhere on campus.Iron Horse is within walking distance from Crenshaw, and if you cut thru at Old Chapel across from my frat house SAE(look for the lions in front)you go across the prettiest part of campus by Old Fountain and the campus center straight to Crenshaw.Really pretty campus(i know I'm a bit predudiced but it really is)and easy to navigate.....and if you go into the bookstore maybe Mrs Dupriest will be working-what a nice lady!(if she even still works there-I still see her at games-at least I did last yr)

Thanks for all the tips and inside information - much appreciated.  I have no doubt that RMC's a beautiful campus and you're absolutely entitled to feel that way!  In fact, every ODAC campus I've seen so far makes the postcard companies and the local Chambers of Commerce proud.  :)

R-MC up by one at the half. The jackets are way to sloppy with the ball. My goodness 12 turnovers at the half.......just not a good sign. Missed four FT right before half and VWC hits a three.

Listening to R-MC/VWC and looking at R-MC's season stats. David Carlson's stat line has been removed so that the stats of the individual players listed do not add up to the totals that appear. I understand that Carlson is no longer a member of the team, but why remove his stat line? Revisionist history before it's really history?? I just don't get it.

VWC defeats RMC 71-69.  Either it was the sloppiest game ever or the tightest called game ever played.  A total of 46 fouls called.  RMC had 22  -VWC had 24.  Another down to the wire contest.  I wish I could have heard it but just had the live stats.   Can't wait to read the summaries of this contest.  WTG Marlins..also congrats to Guilford and EMU on their good wins tonight.
