Same score with only 16 seconds left to go......WOW I never expected RMC to lose to Washington and Lee

1-23 3pt fga for the Jackets was killer.

WAY TO GO GENERALS!!!!
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Final at the Bast Center in Salem:  Guilford 86, Roanoke 70

Sanborn a career-high 29 points (18 boards), Henson 21 and Bonner 21 - I guess it's the "Tri"namic Trio.  :)

The Quakers move to 17-1, 8-1 with their 13th straight win.  Roanoke falls to 6-13, 3-7 as the Maroons are in a bit of a swoon, dropping 10 of their last 12.

Congratulations to W&L.  As mentioned earlier, RMC was 1 of 23 beyond the arc ... that's probably the difference.

Eagles get win against E&H Trawick had an off night going 4/9 from the field and 2/5 from three for 20 points and 8 boards.  I agree his numbers go down if he is on any of the top odac teams however he is the center piece of any ODAC teams offensive except for GC.  Sandborn because of his size and strength would be GC go to on offense but imagine if you could not double trawick because of the treat Sandborn brings.  Most teams are forced too double down on Sandborn because the game is won from the inside out and that frees up a lot of good looks for Henson when the ball is reversed.  I saw the EMU game and the shots Trawick was hitting all had hands in his face the guy hit 3 step back three pointers. In the ODAC draft #1 pick Sandborn #2 Trawick.

Stillfamily......The win of Macon for EMU was huge for those guys however I have a good feeling they would trade that one in for a win over the crosstown rivals who they have lost too 4 straight.  Its a very heated rivalry.  Actually it may be 5 straight dating back two season ago i believe they split with Bridgewater winning their last match up of that year.

Tigers defeat Randolph at Fleet, 75-66, with Harrison George and Colton Hunt leading their teams in points scored (18 for George and 15 for Hunt).  Tigers led by 9-17 points throughout the last 16-17 minutes of the game.  Hampden-Sydney is now 5-5 in the ODAC and 9-9 overall.  In addition to their loss to DI High Point, the Tigers have another 5 losses to DIII Top 25 teams.  They've bounced back to .500 in a season where they have one of the toughest schedules in all of Division III.

Speaking of a tough schedule, the Tigers host EMU on Saturday .... only 2 days after the Royals play their second game against Southern Virginia tomorrow night.  Let's see what the Tigers can do against the Royals at home ..... Go Tigers!

If some of you are like me, you've been noticing the "Efficiency Rating" on a lot of the live stat packages, so I wanted to find out what it meant.  In a nutshell, there are some really complicated formulas in use that take into account minutes played, shooting percentages, etc., but most live stat packages seem to use the simple version:

(Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - (Missed FG's + Missed FT's + TO's) = Efficiency Rating

Tyler Sanborn, for example, had an excellent night for GC versus RoC:

(29 + 18 + 3 + 1 + 4) - (4 + 2 + 3) = 46

He was 11 of 15 on FG's and, for him, an excellent 7 of 9 on FT's.

That's how it's done!

Just for the heck of it, I also did the "team" Efficiency Rating:  GC 101, RoC 70

The Guilford Quakers will undoubtedly be ranked #1 in the country in the next d3hoops ranking if two things happen: (1) #5 UW-Whitewater goes on to defeat #1 UW-Stevens Point tonight (Whitewater is presently leading, 57-56, with 0:27 remaining in the game), and (2) the Quakers defeat Randolph-Macon on Saturday ... which would not be surprising.

The ODAC has never yet had two teams ranked #1 in the same basketball season.

Way to go, Guilford.

Special congratulations go to W&L for beating RMC.   Likewise to Bridgewater for their win last week against EMU.  We love you both.

Well, one of the two things just happened:

Final # 5 UW-W 61, #1 UW-SP 58 at Stevens Point.  It's the Pointers' 2nd loss of the season, both to the Warhawks.

Congratulations to W&L on their win tonight...They are a good team and in the ODAC, as we know, any team can be beaten.  Another  good win by the Marlins tonight also.  It was close for most of the game and Steven Echols was on fire and had a great game, but the Marlins refused to give up and came out the victors.  No games are going to be a cakewalk in this league, and I think that is the way it should be.   Thanks for your response Algernon, you are usually quite accurate in all your accessments and I consider you the scenerio man and statistician of this board.  I always enjoy your posts.  I do remember reading where Tony Shaver never got COY as much as he deserved and that will problably be the case with Dave Macedo also.  If you are expected to win , and you do for the most part, it is not considered anything special or deserving, yet it isn't easy to do, especially in Division III.       On to the race....Looks like RMC may drop way down next week in the top 25 unless they can come back with some wins...    Guilford may be number1 and who knows what else may happen!!!  Stay tuned...it's far from over

The Guilford at Roanoke replay is currently being shown on WDRL TV in the Roanoke area.

you can make an argument that Steven Echols is better than Trawick and does more to help his team win than Trawick does.

Congrats to all the winners, especially to W & L for a historic road win in Ashland.

Let's pull it together and GO JACKETS!!!

78rmc

Are you kiddin' me?  Are you kiddin' me?  Jackets lose to the Generals for the first time in 50 years in Ashland.  Put a fork in this team, they're done.  No leadership, no go-to guy.  Guilford by 25 on Saturday!
