All the comments about the Efficiency Rating got me to wondering - what's the highest score you've ever seen? - in DIII or, for that matter, in any game?  To refresh your memory, ER is:

(Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - ((Shots attempted - shots made) + (Free throws attemped - free throws made) + Turnovers)) = ER

I reported that Guilford's Tyler Sanborn had an outstanding 46 on Wednesday night versus Roanoke:  (29 + 18 + 3 + 1 + 4) - ((15 - 11) + (9 - 7) + 3) = 46, but ...

I thought of one better - Ben Strong versus Lincoln U. in the 2007 DIII Sweet 16:

(59 + 17 + 3 + 1 + 4) - ((27 - 20) + (22 - 19) + 6) = 68

What's the best Efficiency Rating you can find?  I'll be curious to see what we come up with!

This one's tremendous, but still not as good as the Ben Strong game you cite, Hasanova ......    Kyle Williford's 56-point game against Roanoke in January 2002:

(56 + 11 + 6 + 2 + 0) - ((29 - 18) + (14 - 14) + 7) = 57

Mason Wooldridge triple double vs. Emory & Henry

(45 + 20 + 11 + 3 + 0) - ((25-17)+(11-11)+7) = 64

I attended that game at VW.  Unbelievable atmosphere, fabulous game!  Strong was unstoppable.  Third-highest scoring performance in an NCAA national tournament in ANY division.

Phil Hawley's 46-point game vs. E&H

(Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - ((Shots attempted - shots made) + (Free throws attemped - free throws made) + Turnovers)) = ER
(46 + 17 + 3 + 1 + 1) - ((24 - 22) + (3 - 2) + 4) = 61

H-SC 38- EMC 26 at half   EMC started 16-4 but then H-SC went on great run of 27-4  to lead 31-20

24-16 rebound edge to H-SC  foul shooting H-SC 12 for 14  EMC 8-14

almost reverse of their first game - weather issues so only 2 ref's - phyiscal game - H-SC football team showed up though

EMC relying on 3 pointers - 3 for 15 - all 3 made by same player

Go Tigers - have a great 2nd half

There is no school in the ODAC named EMC. It's EMU

HSCDad

Stand corrected - EMU

H-SC still up by 12 with 6:30 to go

1:212 left with H-SC up by 8 - great 30ft 3 pointer by EMU

HSCDad

80-68 final H-SC  Great win on snowy day

EMU needs to learn what a two-point shot is. Their love affair with the three is costing them games.

Nice win by HSC. They were the better team today. George Johnson was 6 for 13 behind the 3 point line but, the rest of the Royals were a combined 1 for 18! The Runnin' Royals need to recognize earlier in the game when they are having an off night from three and use there athleticism to get to the rim. ODAC continues to show how deep the league is and it doesn't get any easier for EMU. Lynchburg and VWC come to Harrisonburg next week followed by a trip to Guilford in a week and half!

Didn't see that coming. Very nice win for HSC.
Maybe the Jackets will wake up today.
