Rock I just wanted to be sure. I am wondering why you called it a major setback? Unless you mean so they stay above 500 !
They would be 7-6 in the ODAC had they won and would have been in the driver's seat for 5th place for sure. They are in 6th and W&L is in fifth, and now Bridgewater is is right on their tails and owns the tiebreaker with the Tigers.

Rock I believe you are correct. And looking at HSC and BC and their remaining games they just very well may both finish at 7-9 .
???  On another note it was nice to see two OLD ODAC faces on TV this week, as both Tony Shaver and Mike Rhoades  had tv games on channel 35.

In all fairness to both schools, I think it's appropriate to call HSC's 2-point loss at E&H a major setback for the Tigers.  When you couple HSC's stellar performance on the road at #1 Guilford Wednesday night (and overall close play against other ranked teams) and E&H's previous 2-win season (no ODAC wins), would anyone other than the most optimistic E&H fan have predicted this?  Even given the game's delay and the travel conditions, I think most knowledgeable ODAC fans would've pegged this with at least a 10-point margin for the Tigers.  HSC was in the hunt for the coveted 5th spot and this is a serious blow to their chances.  Am I right?

As a Wasps fan, I am not shocked with the win.  We have been competitive with pretty much all the lower level teams and havent been able to put a whole game together.  If I am not mistaken, we have blown 2nd half leads against W&L, Randolph, B'water @ Roanoke, Lynchburg and @ HSC.  It was only a matter of time until we pulled one out.  By no means am I calling us world beaters, but you know you are always going to get the best effort from our program.  I also wont be shocked to win one of the play-in games before the tournament coming up.  It is a huge relief to get our first win and coming against HSC, it feels pretty damn good... haha let me just enjoy this one this weekend

Nova,   looking at it as you explained it , you are correct. I just do not use the words(upset, setback) when speaking about a 500 team that just recorded another L.
However looking at it from the seedings vantage point it is a big-time setback.

I don't think it's a major "upset" by the Wasps, but I do think it's a major "setback" for the Tigers.  From HSC's point of view, they'd had close games against the conference leaders (who also happen to be national leaders), so I think they expected to beat a 2-18, 0-11 team, even on the road.  The Tigers and their fans may have already anticipated their 7th ODAC win and taking a big step forward in their bid to finish at least 5th.  Whoever finishes 6th, however, may have to play the Wasps again.

First, congratulations to the Wasps.  I know it does make for a happy weekend!  You know, basketball's a funny game.  On paper, Guilford defeated E&H by 42 in Emory and HSC could have beaten GC with a three in Greensboro, so you'd expect the Tigers to be favored over the Wasps.  You have to play the games, however, and sometimes teams are "on", sometimes they're "off" and sometimes one team just matches up well with another.  As I said, basketball's a funny game and outcomes such as this are why I love to be a fan!

I didn't know this was available until today, but Coach Palombo wore a mic when the Quakers hosted the Roanoke Maroons on Jan. 18 - interesting video and audio:

Greensboro, N.C.---When watching basketball at home, we all wonder what goes through a coaches (sic) mind.

What does he say to his team during the game and how he reacts to different situations.

During a recent win over Roanoke, Guilford College head basketball coach Tom Palombo let us mic him up so we could bring you the thoughts of a head coach.
