donho,
i'm not sure. i saw this score on live stats at end of the game. i guess it's right.
That is from the last game, just look at the play by play, it's still from the RMC game.

Congrats to EMU on picking up an impressive victory over another #1 team and with the W set the record for wins in a season! But I like a said a few weeks ago, Coach Dean and his team won't be happy until a banner is hung from the rafters at University Commons.  Todd Phillips got things going early in the game and when he went to the bench with 2 fouls in the 1st half, George Johnson stepped right in and had 17 points by half. Phillips and the Runnin' Royals broke it open early in the second half!

Hasanova..... EMU shot the ball well (50% from the floor and 38.5% from 3), but I wouldn't call it unsustainable.

Well, it wasn't so much the percentages as it was some of the distances.  If this game was played ten times, I don't think EMU would top Guilford like this again.  They're a fine team, however, and deserved to win tonight.  Undoubtedly, Williams will be the next #1 team - and the way that's gone this season, they're welcome to it!  :)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, VWC is 11-2 and R-MC is 9-4. Doesn't change anything for R-MC but sure does for VWC !  Plus BC goes to 6-7
I believe that will change your seedings.

You're right, donho.  Here's the revision ...

If the tournament were played today, this would be the seeding:

#1   VWC           11-2
--------------------------------------------------------
#2   EMU            10-2  (1-0 in head-to-head)
#3   Guilford       10-2  (0-1 in head-to-head)
--------------------------------------------------------
#4   RMC              9-4
--------------------------------------------------------
#5   HSC              7-7   (1-0 in head-to-head)
#6   W&L             6-6   (0-1 in head-to-head)
--------------------------------------------------------
#7   Bridgewater  6-7
#8   Lynchburg     4-8
--------------------------------------------------------
#9   Randolph       3-10  (1-0 in head-to-head)
#10 Roanoke        3-10  (0-1 in head-to-head)
--------------------------------------------------------
#11 Emory&Henry 1-12

Hasa,

If you watch several of EMU's games this year, you will see that at times, EMU lives and sometimes dies by the 3 point shot, and that includes NBA range and beyond. Each game that I have seen they have won and I have always walked away amazed by the amount of three's they take, make and the distance of the shots.  If EMU can get into the dance, they can really make some noise as long as they are shooting decent.

Great win for EMU1

First things first....DON'T LOOK NOW.....But the Gennies are at 6-6 in this tough conference!!!  Told you they'd come around!!  Go Hutch, Go Gennies!!!!!  And almost got Macon again the other night.  Had it not been this surprise season for EM, they'd be my predicted 4th right now.  Looking good so far, looking mighty good could very well finish the season with no worse than an 8-8 record in the league.

Now question, is EMU really this good?  Being an NCAC guy (GO Scots who are flourishing after winning the league outright!) i am familiar with the ODAC but these guys are baffling cause they murdered Guilford.

Emu shot 50% from the field but most of the shots that were not 3s were layups. They were only 10-26 from behind the arc.  So it wasn't like it was lights out. They shot 38% which is 2% above their season average(36%). They always shoot long range 3s.  They have great shooters with great range so distance isn't anything new for these guys. They have done this all season. In the 3 losses (17-3), they shot poorly from distance. The loss at HSC they shot 22.6%, loss at BC EMU shot 13.8%, and at SVU 25.8%.  I would say say they have sustained shooting pretty well all year.

On the other hand hasanova you are right bc if EMU doesn't make a few 3s they have struggled. Reminds me of how Duke has almost always lives and dies by the 3.

Is EMU this good? Well there is no question if they are good. Are they 27pts better than GC every night? NO. Are they a top team in the Nation? Yes.  They have punished two #1 teams this season(GC by 27 & RMC by 23) and have beaten VWC @ the Fish Tank.  This team is all juniors with Austin Twine being the lone senior. They have been together a while now and could make serious noise in the NCAA tournament if they continue to play well.  My only hope is that they don't lump most of the ODAC teams in the same bracket like they have done  in the past! We should have 3 or 4  in NCAA Tournament this year!!

Both EMU and VWC control their own destiny.  Either team, by winning out, will gain the #1 seed for the tournament.

Guilford, on the other hand, has to hope that both teams lose, because the Quakers cannot win the #1 seed with 2 losses if either of the other teams also finishes with 2 losses.  They will lose a tie to the Royals on the basis of yesterday's loss ... and they'll lose a tie to the Marlins on the basis of the point system, because the Marlins' schedule was tougher than the Quakers this year and -- if they win out -- would include a win over the Royals and TWO wins over the Yellow Jackets.

Very interesting week coming up!

Well, I've only seen one EMU game in person and little snippets online, but the Royals definitely "lived" on some awfully long shots last night.  Meanwhile, Guilford was 1 of 13 on threes.  EMU absolutely deserved to win last night - it wasn't just one thing, but Guilford seemed listless and out of synch.  I've seen EMU improving the last few years, so I was mentally prepared to lose last night, but I never envisioned losing by 27 at home.  Kudos to the Royals - they came to play and performed!

All in all, though, I don't think it matters too much whether you get seeded one-two-or three.  If you make it to the semis, every team in the Top Four can win it.  Since EMU and VWC have to play each other, one of them will get a 3rd loss.  If - and it's a big IF - the Quakers can win out and finish 14-2 - they'd probably be the second seed.

Yes, if the Quakers win out, they'll be either the #1 or the #2 seed, depending upon what happens with the Marlins and Royals.  And I certainly agree that the seeding won't make a lot of difference to tournament outcome, although I think I'd rather be seeded #1 and play Randolph, Lynchburg, or Roanoke than to be seeded #3 and play .. say .. Hampden-Sydney, Washington & Lee, or Bridgewater in the quarterfinals.  After the quarters, it certainly won't matter.

On a related note, I'd say that something would have to go horribly wrong for Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan, and EMU to NOT make the NCAAs.  All 3 teams have 2 In-Region losses (the EMU loss to Southern Virginia shouldn't count in determining bids, I don't think) and all 3 teams should finish with an In-Region record between 21-4 and 26-2, assuming that they make the tournament semifinals.  That should get all 3 teams into the tournament.

RMC, with a 5th loss in the tournament, might get left out of the dance.  If they lose another regular season game, a tournament loss would be their 6th and they would likely be left home ....   I think the Yellow Jackets, with losses to EMU, Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan, and Washington and Lee, are going to need to win out (with a win over the Marlins) and get to the championship game, or they're not going to get a Pool C bid.

Of course, if a team like the Tigers or Generals wins the tournament, then it's possible that any of the top contenders -- even with only 4 in-region losses -- might stay home, especially if they messed up in the quarterfinals.

Turner King has moved past T. J. Grimes into 5th place in HSC's career scoring list.  Now with 1743 points, he needs another 37 points to catch Ralph Baker -- and I expect that'll happen.

Congratulations to Turner King.  He's had a very nice career.
