I thought I heard that Guilford's Sanborn, Henson, and Bonner were all on the all-tournament team.  I was so impressed, I forgot the rest of it.

R-MC's Pugh and Phillips were the other 2 All-Tourney recipients.

And Lynchburg is the only one to hang within 10 points of Guilford in the ODAC Tournament. Never expected to say that, actually expected Lynchburg to get blown out in the quarterfinals. Guilford was without a doubt the best team of the bunch for this weekend. The best balanced team in the conference and role players like Brad Monroe came up big for the Quakers in all three games.
LC played well, but GC missed 16 FT's in that game, some the front end of one-and-ones.

Good to see jacketlawyer in Salem today!   Good luck to the Yellow Jackets in the NCAA tournament - I have a feeling we'll see RMC in an official bracket Monday morning!

You know, Quaker fans have come to expect big games out of Sanborn, Henson and Bonner (and they delivered again today), but the other guys really stepped up in this tournament when these three were double- and triple-teamed or had off games.  My special kudos to T. C. Anderson today for arguably the best performance of the game ... he was perfect at the line, was 5 of 6 from the field (2 threes) and had 3 steals, all of which led to scores.   He was today's MVP in my mind.  Also, for the second game in a row, Monroe and Akinsola off the bench were terrific with 8 points each.  When the defense backs off and dares the subs to shoot ... and they deliver ... it's a winning combination!  Go Quakers!

We got home too late to read or post, but wow, Guilford is the real deal.  We thought we hung in there with them pretty well, but they were so tough on defense & got some of our guys off balance.  Their offense was so broad it was impossible to cover them all.  CONGRATS to them on a super game which we enjoyed watching.  One odd fact, we did not see a single travel call & there were some definite walks on both sides.  Never seen that happen before!

Kudos to the Jackets for a great tournament & just falling short by 1 game... Eric Pugh really lit it up yesterday with 5 3s and a 2 all in a row!

Apologies to everyone who was offended by hearing one of the facts about what stillfamily alluded to ... we did not intend to offend stillfamily or anyone, just stating a fact; maybe we can all learn something from this exchange.

There were absolutely no outbreaks of bad fan behavior yesterday.

GO JACKETS!!!  We hope.

If we're reading this site correctly, they project all 4 ODAC teams in with 3 of them (all but R-MC) as home sites in the opening round.  R-MC could get a game as close as MD???

What are the chances it happens this way?  Probably slim if past years are any indication...

GO JACKETS!!!  Still hoping.

In the past 3 years, ODAC teams have been placed in 1st/2nd round pods within 500 miles, at most.

2007:
- Virginia Wesleyan hosted Hampden-Sydney, Averett, and Hood.
- Guilford traveled to Johns Hopkins.

2008:
- Guilford hosted St. Mary's Widener, and Averett.
- Virginia Wesleyan traveled to Ursinus.

2009:
- Guilford traveled to Centre (Danville, Kentucky)
- Virginia Wesleyan traveled to Widener.

I'm convinced that Guilford and EMU will host.  Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon both have a shot at hosting, but time will tell .... with VWC having the better shot, for sure.

That 1 ODAC team might travel to St. Mary's makes sense .... and I'm guessing that Albright and Franklin & Marshall are also possible travel destinations for our teams.  Of the 3 destinations, Albright is the farthest, but still only 349 miles from Virginia Wesleyan.

All 4 are in.  I think EMU and Guilford are hosting same side, but VWC is in MD and R-MC in Mass. other side.

CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes to all ODAC teams in NCAAs!!

GO JACKETS!!!!

Yes!  4 teams from the ODAC.

Guilford hosts a pod, playing CNU in the 1st round on Friday and either John Carroll or Maryville on Saturday.  If they win both games, I believe the Quakers are a clear favorite to host a section on March 12-13 (given their ranking and the geographical makeup of this section) .... but that's a long ways off.

EMU hosts a pod, playing Centre in the 1st round and either Wilmington or Lycoming on Saturday.  If they win both games, they'll like travel for the sectional to Guilford or Wooster (assuming one of those two teams wins both 1st and 2nd round games) on March 12-13.

Virginia Wesleyan travels to St. Mary's in St. Mary's City, MD for a 1st-round game against Richard Stockton and then either St. Mary's or Purchase on Saturday.  It's only a 200-mile trip from Virginia Beach.  If the Marlins win both games, they would likely travel to Merchant Marine, Albright, or William Paterson for a sectional (assuming 2 wins by one of those 3 teams).

RMC travels to Albright in Reading, PA for a 1st-round game against Cabrini and then either Albright or Clark on Saturday.  That's only 247 miles from Ashland.  If the Yellow Jackets win both games, they would likely travel to St. Mary's Merchant Marine, or William Paterson for a sectional (assuming 2 wins by one of those 3 teams).

This bracket is about as good as the ODAC could have hoped for.  Thankfully, ODAC teams are not in the sections of the bracket that include Williams, WI-Stevens Point, and Washington University.

Guilford and EMU could meet up in the Elite Eight.  VWC and RMC could meet up in the Elite Eight.  Guilford has got the toughest route -- after CNU, probably John Carroll and then either Wooster or UW-Whitewater in the Sweet Sixteen before they'd have any possibility of playing EMU on the 2nd night of the sectional.  However, the Quakers are arguably the ODAC team most capable of dealing with tough matchups: They've got Final Four experience from last year.

In 2010, if everything went just right -- it's a fantasy -- the ODAC could conceivably get 4 teams into the Elite Eight, 2 teams into the Final Four, and 2 teams into the National Championship game.  (The NESCAC has gotten 2 teams in the Final Four on at least 1 occasion.)  Let's go, Quakers, Royals, Marlins, and Yellow Jackets!!

Yippee!  Go ODAC!
That is a great bracket for y'all.

You could have 4 teams in the Elite 8, if the ODAC is really that good, not to mention an all-ODAC final!

Bracket: http://www.d3boards.com/playoffs/mbb-bracket2010.pdf

Macon is in Pa.

Thank you, Pat, that is a much more do-able trip for us!

Algernon, you were almost dead on with your host/travel predictions.  We're ashamed to say we had never heard of Albright College & had no idea where it was.

This is huge for EMU-- first time in the NCAAs and they are picked to host the first round.  Well deserved & a great way for them to get more national attention.

GO ODAC teams... GO JACKETS!!!!
