Whew!  Guilford kicked a FG to win by three after JCU came back from 17 down to go ahead 77-74.  I can't remember how many times JCU should have been called for holding or roughing the passer ... oh, sorry, it was a basketball game and not a football game!  It was easy to get the two mixed up tonight.

I guess the refs couldn't call everything tonight, but the Blue Streaks certainly play in-your-face, swarming, relentless defense.    It was definitely a game of streaks (no pun intended) and Guilford had the last one.

Big game for Clay Henson ... and GC needed it.  I hope the Quakers host again next weekend.  I know a lot of factors figure in, but based on record and ranking, Guilford deserves it!  Go Quakers!

Congratulations to JCU on a fine season.  I certainly wouldn't want to play them every night ... and I mean that as a surpreme compliment!  Physical, talented and cohesive ... a great team.

Macon wins 70-60, but was really closer than the score indicates!   Wow 28-8 advantage in free throw attempts.  They made 22 of them. Good thing.

I was at Albright tonight to see Clark play RMC.  RMC had about a 3-inch average height advantage over Clark, and I really thought RMC would run away and hide.  Clark played them tough the entire game, and never quit, even when down by 10 with less than 2 minutes to go.  Congrats to RMC who was able to put away a very tenacious and under-sized opponent.

Good morning ODAC posters and guests!  We drove all night after a great weekend in beautiful PA where the Jackets ruled the court in the end.  Albright hosted a great event (but their crowd made ODAC fans look tame and the mothers with children were running to the staff to complain about "the language" - GO MOMS!).

Clark was amazingly tenacious and it's scary to think what might have happened had #22 not been injured and out of the game from the start.  We wish him a good recovery and congratulate them on their terrific season.  Their #34 (Minister) could hit a 3 from anywhere.

R-MC really hung tough & we credit the defense for sealing the deal.  Calvin Croskey really lit it up last night and was clear MVP in the game - way to go, Calvin!  Danny Jones & Adam Desgain were both in close pursuit of MVP; Jordan Brown & Brandon Braxton got their licks in too.  Eric Pugh got poked in the eyes both nights, but nothing seems to stop him from moving the ball well.  Clark was aggressive despite smaller size & looked to outmuscle us more than once.

We've said all along that R-MC's depth would carry the team far and it's nice to be right!  Sweet 16 is sweet indeed.

Sorry to lose VWC from the ODAC Gang of 4, but they had a great season and congrats to them.  Kudos to EMU and Guilford for their wins.  We could not be more proud of the conference we play in.  GO ODAC teams!

A quick shout out to sports reporter Jerry Reimenschneider (special correspondent to the Richmond T-D) for his colorful articles about the Jackets' weekend.  We could use a lot more of him on our sports pages.

We hope for a shorter drive this weekend, but if we go back to PA, it's OK-- we like it there & the roads are great.

GO JACKETS!!!!

This sectional has #3 Guilford, #4 Whitworth, #10 EMU and #17 Wooster. By far the best sectional. All are dangerous!

I'm guessing it'll be in Guilford, but the ACC is in town, so hotels are slim. Next would be EMU, but the CAA women's tourney is that weekend, again limited accomodations. Wooster? Who knows?

What do you all think?

When will they announce the Sectional locations?

Having seen JCU play Wooster on several occasions over the past few years, it's not uncommon to see football references being used wrt JCU basketball.  They are definitely a tough, physical, relentless, in your face pressuring defense.  Sometimes, I think they get away with too much, but that's just me.  I was kind of surprised that the officials seemed to let JCU get away with their physical style of play down there in NC.  I could see if the game was being played up here in Ohio where the officials are used to seeing JCU's physical style, but I would not have expected those southern officials to allow the Blue Streaks to get away with as much down there.

Interesting dilemma you brought up.  When JCU lost, the consensus in Wooster was that Guilford would be a no-brainer to host the sectional.  But with the ACC tournament in Greensboro, hotel accommodations are really going to be tough to come by for visiting fans.  And the same can be said for Harrisonburg with the CAA tournament going on at JMU.

Wooster does have the largest venue of the 4 teams in this sectional and would appear to have the best options as far as accommodations for visiting fans.  It will be interesting to see how the NCAA views having adequate accommodations when it comes to selecting a host site.

I am a transplanted Wayne Co native in the Shenandoah Valley (Chippewa '77). One thing that I don't like in the county seat is the limited "quality" hotels. I have my reservations @ the Best Western already!

Congrats to the 3 ODAC Teams to make the Sweet Sixteen.  I am glad to see that the Yellow Jackets found a group willing to put it all on the line come tournament time--both in the ODAC Touranement and now the NCAA Tournament.  Be nice if we hosted, but it looks like we will have to do it on the road.  Good luck to the team and the coaching staff this coming weekend.  And good luck to EMU and Guilford as well.  Be great to have 3 in the Elite 8 out of the ODAC.

So, are you going to be pulling for your old area team?  8-)

Guilford gets the sectional BTW.

Yeah, I just heard Guilford will host C. of Wooster, EMU and Whitworth (WA) on March 12-13.  Hopefully, the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point) will be big enough to accommodate everyone and the ACC.  Usually, when teams start to lose on Thursday and Friday at the ACC, some folks go home.

Welcome Scots, Royals and Pirates!

Wasn't it still called Doylestown High School in '77?  (West Holmes '78 here).

It's STILL Doylestown High!! But it was Chippewa on my yearbook! I left and I've rarely been back since '81 - weddings and funerals.

St. Mary's is hosting as well... and despite the thought about RMC hosting... SMC is a #1 regionally ranked team and the chance the NCAA would go to a lower ranked team like RMC, F&M, or DeSales was a bit of a stretch. SMC is also very centrally located for all teams... and there are plenty of hotels and restaurants within ten miles of the SMC campus.

RMC fans... shouldn't be that bad a trip... 2 to 2 1/2 hours?

Congratulations to EMU and RMC for advancing along with Guilford.  Kudos to VWC for a great season as well.  Considering RMC was the 4th place ODAC team and didn't win the tournament, I think they should be pleased with a venue as close as St. Mary's.  Way to go ODAC!

Here, here! Congrats to the ODAC teams for success in the tourney. I was hoping for a 25% representation, but still a chance for a 50% ODAC Final 4!

Personally, we're very happy with St. Mary's site but would have been okay with PA again, too.  (They keep their roads up so well there and the countryside is beautiful.)

We'll hope to pull a bigger crowd being so much closer to home this weekend.

Congrats to Guilford on remaining as a host site!  GO ODAC TEAMS!!!
