Stevens Point defeats Williams 78-73.

Blake Schultz led the way for the Ephs with 20 pts. Troy Whittington with a huge game had 19 pts, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. James Wang had 17 pts and Alex Rubin finished with 11.

Matt Moses led the Pointers and was the game's high scorer with 22 pts and 7 rebounds. Jared Jenkins had 17 pts, Dan Tillema scored 15 pts and Louis Hurd added 10 pts.

Williams can hold their head high as they completed a great season and all D3 fans were treated to a super championship game with 2 outstanding teams fighting it out to the end. Congratulations to both teams for their efforts.

East squad wins the All-Star game 109-107 in overtime.

Clay Henson of Guilford led the West Squad with 35 points and was the game's leading scorer. Abdoulaye Oeudraogo from William Paterson led the East Squad with 18 points. Josh Sharlow of St. Lawrence had a great all-around game, as he made a nice feed to Darnell Braswell for an open layup with 2 seconds left in the game. Braswell was hammered and missed the lay-in but went to the line and made the 2 foul shots that accounted for the winning points. Sharlow scored 10 points, had 5 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks.

Hensen was unconscious as he drained three pointer after three pointer from all over the court, many times with a guy right in his face. I don't know if they had an MVP for the game but he was clearly it.

Didn't get Tyler Sanborns totals but he also had a good game for the East Squad. Good thing they split up the 2 Guilford players because if Henson was on the East squad it would have been a blowout. Lawrence of Randolph-Macon had a couple of key baskets for the East team.

All State game - Sanborn had 12 and several huge blocks

Best play Sanborn had assist to Henson - turned with rebound fed Henson who hit one of many 3's - only problem, different team - alot of smiles

Lawrence of RMC had 10 -  Field of VCU had 3 - Strickand of RMC did not score

Al played about equal time and contributed - they seem to have fun and enjoyable to watch

109(east) -107 (west)  in OT

Hoopstermom:  where were you?  Seating was so spread out we may have missed you there & sorry about that.

With you in spirit and heart, watching and listening on the internet....came down with the crud, just could not make the trip.  Poor excuse I know, but they always said I was a lightweight.

What a great year for the ODAC, and especially R-MC and GC making the final four.  Can't wait 'till next year, but now will move on to softball and baseball.  There's always an exciting sport to follow in each season, so I'm sure I'll run into you soon 2RMCFans.

D3Hoops announced this year's All American Teams prior to Saturday's National Championship Game.

Tyler Sanborn of Guilford was named to the First team

Todd Phillips of Eastern Mennonite was named to the First Team

If they had voted after the All-Star game I'm sure Clay Henson would have made First team as well.

No surprise for the Player of the Year honors as junior guard Steve Djurickovic of Carthage College won that award. Sanborn was probably 2nd in Player of the Year voting would be my guess.

It's a fine list of players, and I've personally seen many of them play, but I felt Clay Henson deserved to be somewhere in the Top 25.  Congratulations, however, to all the All-Americans!

It's been a great year for Macon hoops.  While I wish we 'd won the national championship, I have no cause to complain about the best season we've had since 1977. 8-)

Will see most of you over on the football boards in a few months! ;D

Oops, and Virginia Wesleyan College #17! Congrats! (sorry for the omission)

unreal season for the odac. I definitely agree with EMU being #4. I can't wait til next season. Sidenote, at a H.S. game tonight a player from Williams was expressing his delight to have seen GC in the final 4 and not EMU! When asked why he said there was no way they thought they could beat EMU. Wow kudos to EMU for that comment from a player on the opposing bracket!!!

Pat (Coleman), was there a published boxscore for the All-Star game?  I knew Clay Henson had a great game and I was just curious to see his stats.

Update:  I found it under "notables".  Headline said Clay had 33, but box said 35.  At any rate, he was 13 of 19 overall and 9 of 13 from behind the arc ... wish we'd seen some of that in the Williams game!  :)  With over 1700 points, Clay had a great career for the Quakers!

FYI - On March 25, Tyler Sanborn of Guilford was named DIII Player of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.  He'll be recognized April 4 in Indianapolis at the NABC's awards dinner during the DI Final Four weekend.  As you may recall, GC's Ben Strong and Amherst's Andrew Olson shared the award in 2007.  Congratulations!
