Averett has a new HC.  We'll miss Matt Parke at Guilford, but he'll do a great job at Averett.  I heard about this a few days ago, but kept it quiet until it was official.  Congratulations Matt!

My source tells me this may create another assistant coaching change in the two-state area.  We'll see.

ODACHOOPS

Some recruiting news for the Tigers for next year.  They do have a very athletic 6'6 post player coming in from VA Beach.  They went right into the beach and took this kid, not sure how the Marlin's let him get away, he is veryyy athletic! Highlight video is filled with dunks and blocks! They also have another 6'4 hybrid who is very athletic from the Richmond area.  He can get off the floor in a hurry.  These 2 combined with Harrison George in my mind will give the Tiger's one of if not the most athletic teams in the ODAC, something they have lacked in recent years.

The Tigers have such a loyal fan base and so many natural and traditional rivals in the ODAC - it's great for the league if HSC fields a good team.

sydney did go to virginia beach and get a kid. Its hard for the marlins to compete against full scholarships ;)

Kirby Dean now has the depth to full court press more often.

Marlin Faithful-

We have been down this road before and we all know where it leads, to upsetting Marlin's fans and causing them to "come out swinging."   With that said I am not going to state the obvious it's a mute point, everyone on this board ( well outside of the boys from the beach) are well aware of VWC's ability to recruit kids that other ODAC schools can't tough and everyone has accepted it.

As for the "full scholarship" rampage...never in the 10+ years that I have been following the ODAC have I ever heard of someone accusing HSC of "questionable recruiting tactics."  Maybe times have changed and Dee Vick and company just did the old fashion thing and went into the Tank and out recruited VWC on a prospect.  Anyone who knows anything about sports and recruiting knows that you can't win them all.  Aside from Washington and Lee HSC has the strictest academic standards of any ODAC school, so getting "creative" is a must if you want to beat out schools with lower academic standards and cheaper tuition.

Of all the kids on the marlins roster i am pretty sure that most if not all odac schools were recruiting them.  With that being said November can't come quick enough. Should be an interesting year and another great one for the odac

6'9" Center Romie Powell of Orange County(VA) has committed to Bridgewater. He averaged 8 points and 6 rebounds during his Senior year of HS.

Guard Kyle Brooks of Courtland HS has committed to Bridgewater.
His team was 53-3 during his 2 years on varsity. He shot 42% from 3 point range.
His team won the Va. State title in 2009 and went to the State Semifinals in 2010.

Sounds like Bridgewater's assembling some fine players.  You have to love players off "53-3" teams ... first, they have to have some talent and second, they probably hate to lose.

ODACHOOPS

Absolutely, I agree with that statement 100%. Every ODAC team was most likely recruiting most every kid that is on VWC roster.....that is until they found out the kids test scores and gpa.

Now I see why your karma is on -18 lol

I agree that W&L has the highest admissions criteria in the ODAC - the numbers certainly back that up.  I take issue, however, with HSC being tagged in second place with no competition.  I think there are several ODAC schools, including my own alma mater, who are, metaphorically, "in the same ballpark" as the Tigers.
