Can anyone ever take into consideration that Khobi Williamson just might have a strong GPA and good SAT scores?

ODACHOOPS

DeWayneCarter- My "karma" whatever the heck that is, is so low because I speak the truth and say what every other person on this board thinks and wants to say but doesnt say because they are afraid of upsetting people.  If you ask me, high Karma means that you are that kid in high school who does every and anything he can to be liked...his #1 objective is to be liked by everyone.

To address the academic schools debate...schools like Guilford and Randolph-Macon are great academic schools don't get me wrong, but saying they are in the same catergory of say a HSC is definitely stretching it.  Tuition alone puts hsc ahead of those schools, without even binging academics into the argument.

Khobi does have a great gpa 3.7 I believe which is why the "full scholarship argument" made by a newly formed fish fan, mr. marlin faithful, who is clearly upset that Khobi got out of the beach is commical and ridiculous.

This is an odd statement, actively projecting your thoughts onto the rest of the world.
You'd be surprised, ODACHOOPS, people are actually capable of thinking differently than you.  Very, very differently.

Please consider the truth of this.

Not buying it ... and, by the way, it's "bringing."  So, with your argument, should I purchase a Model hsc2010eltigre from Allmen's Department Store instead of shopping at Real World Mart just because, since the price is higher, it must be better?

Hey ODACHOOPS relax...I'm pretty sure the little smiley face after the post meant that you shouldn't take it too seriously.  And as much as we would all like to get back into the argument regarding the status of the ODAC member schools I will go ahead and concede on behalf of VWC.

You're smart....we're dumb
You're good looking...we're ugly
You're classy/honorable/godly...we aren't

The strongest evidence of your benevolent nature is the fact that you allow the lowly Marlins in YOUR conference.  For that Sir, we thank you.  May HSC's light shine on us all.

To the earlier list of Royals recruits, I think Blair Robertson from Chesterfield is coming to EMU, at least according to the papers there.  The Dispatch says, "Blair Robertson lettered in cross country and basketball, where he was the starting guard. He has a 3.52 GPA, which is fourth in the class. A member of the National Honor Society, he will attend Eastern Mennonite."

Ru White is another to add to the HSC recruiting class for next year.  He was a standout player in Richmond for I believe LC Bird High School.  He is a very athletic 4 man.

Khobi Williamson turned down a full athletic scholarship to play at Longwood University and as of now stayed strong with his verbal to HSC.  Not sure if that will stay true but if so that could allow for one heck of a front court....Ru White and Khobi Williamson to go along with FOY Harrison George.  That may be the most athletic front court in the ODAC next year.

Guard Connor Belicic of Apex High School (Raleigh suburb) has been on my radar since January, but this blurb from a Triangle area website is the first indication that he's chosen Guilford.  By my count, he's commitment #6:

Connor Belicic, a senior on Apex's basketball team, has been hooked on basketball since the age of 5. Connor has also played soccer for Apex and was captain of the junior varsity soccer team. He has also excelled on the Cougars' varsity basketball team since his sophomore year and has served as captain; all while maintaining a 4.21 GPA.

Every year since his sophomore year, Connor has made the Academic All-Conference Team, and was named Tri-9 Conference Player of the Year for basketball as a senior. Connor has been recognized by a number of sports organizations, and won the award for the Highschoolot.com Breakout Player of the Year. He also got a coveted spot on the GlaxoSmithKline All-Tournament Team his senior year. Not only is Connor a top basketball player, but he also has been on the National Honors Society his junior and senior year. He will be continuing his basketball career at Guilford College in the fall.

Connor credits his team for encouraging his dedication to basketball. "My favorite part about playing for Apex is competing on Friday nights in front of the Cougar Crazies and just being able to play for a big time program that has been very successful for many years under one of the best coaches in the area, David Neal," he said.

Mr. Ypsi

All well and good, but will he be 6'10" by his junior year? :o :D

Just raggin' on ya, but you have to admit Guilford's rep is largely based on Strong and Sanborn.  Has ANY other d3 school ever had such a combination of height and talent?   Is it the recruiters?  the water?  the diabolical cloners in your biology department? ;D

Doubtful, since Belicic's a 5'11" guard.  :)  Of the six incoming freshmen of whom I'm aware, four are guards, one's a 6'4" forward and one's a 6'7" F/C ... so, this year's 6'10" future phenom is yet to appear.  The Quakers do, however, have rising junior Justin Stafford and rising sophomore Josh Best in the 6'9'-6'10" club.  Hopefully, both are in big man camps this summer.

Certainly, Strong, and then Sanborn, have made Guilford a desirable place to be ... but don't forget the impact of four straight NCAA bids, two consecutive trips to the Final Four and some stellar guard play over the same period.  Speaking of our ability to recruit, time will tell what impact losing assistant coach Matt Parke to Averett for the HC job will have - in my mind, he was a key part of the recruiting process and our subseqent success.

I'm going to discount the cloners in the Biology Department, but I do think the water in Quaker Lake and the beautiful campus both help.  :)   Look for a guard dominated offense from the Quakers in 2010-11 .... expect Josh Pittman to explode this season after coming in to relieve both Henson and Bonner in 2009-10.  If he'd played for any other team in the ODAC, I think he would have seriously challenged HSC's Harrison George for FOY ... he's just that good.
