In case you didn't see the press release (also cited on the d3hoops.com home page), Guilford alumnus Tyler Sanborn '10 has been invited by the NBA's LA Lakers to play for their summer Developmental League team in Las Vegas in July.  In addition to the Lakers, Tyler also had pre-draft tryouts with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Charlotte Bobcats.  Congratulations, Tyler!  As the old saying goes, "the harder I work, the luckier I get!"

That rocks!

Nice article in today's Greensboro News-Record about Tyler Sanborn's practice battles with 6'10"/280 Derrick Caracter from UTEP (also played at Louisville).  Caracter was LA's second pick and the 58th player overall.  If you want to follow Sanborn and the NBA's Summer League, the dates are July 9-16 in Las Vegas.  The Lakers have five games:  July 9, 8 pm, Pistons; July 10, 6 pm, Nuggets; July 12, 4 pm, Knicks; July 13, 8:30 pm, Kings; and July 15, 4 pm, Spurs.  We're rooting for you, Tyler!

Didn't know Tyler Sanborn was in the NBA Summer League with the Lakers until I saw him come into the game. He competed well on defense and made some good rebounds.

Unfortunately for him, he's completely out of his league on offense and is too slow to defend the pick and roll on the NBA level.

Boo Payne and Luke Holloran have left the EMU Royals basketball program.

If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Yeah, probably so.  Any news on the recruiting trail for ODAC schools?  I've seen reports for six players for the Quakers.

Yes, and I think costs can also be a factor.

And having sent a son to a DIII school for four years to play basketball, sludge would know!

Ha ha , hasanova.  You know as well as I do that we send them to a DIII school for four years for the education.  So they're prepared for what happens after the basketball.  The basketball is a special added pretty cool bonus.

Hasa, you asked about recruiting, and it looks like the Marlins have added a few more this summer, in addition to D.J. Woodmore who was discussed earlier.

The Fish have picked up 3 more from the Hampton Roads area, including two from Tallwood (Aaron Clark and Colby Heard) and one from Norfolk Christian (Jonathan Dawkins).  Here's their write-up from VWC's website: http://athletics.vwc.edu/men/basketball/1038-three-more-hampton-roads-standouts-for-the-mrlins

In addition, the Fish have snagged a high-scoring guard from Colonial Beach, Dylan Farinet.  Here's his writeup: http://athletics.vwc.edu/men/basketball/1059-high-scoring-farinet-selects-the-marlins

Good morning, sludge.  Good point!  I certainly didn't mean to imply that basketball was first, but, you have to admit, your son performed at a pretty high level on the court!  I really enjoyed watching him play and I'm glad he got the sheepskin as well. :)
