Hasa, you asked about recruiting, and it looks like the Marlins have added a few more this summer, in addition to D.J. Woodmore who was discussed earlier.

The Fish have picked up 3 more from the Hampton Roads area, including two from Tallwood (Aaron Clark and Colby Heard) and one from Norfolk Christian (Jonathan Dawkins).  Here's their write-up from VWC's website: http://athletics.vwc.edu/men/basketball/1038-three-more-hampton-roads-standouts-for-the-mrlins

In addition, the Fish have snagged a high-scoring guard from Colonial Beach, Dylan Farinet.  Here's his writeup: http://athletics.vwc.edu/men/basketball/1059-high-scoring-farinet-selects-the-marlins
Thanks.  Sounds like some very athletic players for the always competitive Marlins.

No recruiting news from the Jackets, but a fellow 80's Jackets grad,Jeff Burns, was named as the new Athletic Director.Jeff suceeds Denis Kanach, who did a great job for us.I'm sure Burnsie will do just as well......Go Jackets!!

I think jacketlawyer posted this a few days ago on the football site, but let me add my congratulations and best wishes to Jeff Burns!

To address the academic schools debate...schools like Guilford and Randolph-Macon are great academic schools don't get me wrong, but saying they are in the same catergory of say a HSC is definitely stretching it.  Tuition alone puts hsc ahead of those schools, without even binging academics into the argument.
Not buying it ... and, by the way, it's "bringing."  So, with your argument, should I purchase a Model hsc2010eltigre from Allmen's Department Store instead of shopping at Real World Mart just because, since the price is higher, it must be better?

I'm not buying it either.  HSC's tuition is only minimally higher than Roanoke, Randolph, and Randolph-Macon.  Further, HSC's selectivity isn't significantly different from any of those 3 institutions.  All of these four schools are in the same ballpark in both cost and selectivity .... and a number of other ODAC institutions are not much lower on either factor related to admissions.

Thanks for the heads up, JWW.  I've heard from several alumni, as well.  I still see Jordan at a Guilford game every once in a while, so we all wish him well.  Swish!

Anyone know what's going on with Brandon Adair and Ben Strong's pro careers?

marlinpg10

Not sure about ben strong but brandon adair is no longer playing professionally. From what I understand he was frustrated with how unreliable his management was and did not want to deal with it anymore. He is now a high school referee in the hampton roads area where i hear he is doing a great job.

As far as I know, Ben Strong's still playing professionally in Israel.  Another Quaker, Tyler Sanborn, has signed with Pamplona in Spain.

PA Royals Fan

Don't know reasons for the two Royals mentioned leaving the program, but here is a release with the new ones coming in.  Could it be "reading the writing on the wall?"

This site's in Spanish, but thought you guys might enjoy Tyler Sanborn's introduction and photos on his club's team page in Pamplona, Spain.  Scroll down on the first screen and you'll find it.  He may already be there, but he was flying over this week.

badcall!

Word is that EMU has added another impact freshman in Marlon Organ from Spotswood HS.  He went to Mars Hill originally and wanted to come back home.  Can any of you EMU locals there in the area confirm?  Would be a real nice pick-up if true for the Royals.
