GC Quakers in an exhibition at Wake Forest tonight.  I'm sure former WFU HC Dave Odom (Guilford '65) might have helped set this up.  I would have liked to have seen this game last year as well.  Anyway, I'll be there!

Josh Pittman led the Quakers with 11 points and four assists. Brad Monroe pulled down a team-high six rebounds off the bench for Guilford.

The Deacons had just nine of its 15 total players in uniform for the game, including six scholarship players. Tony Chennault, Ari Stewart and Melvin Tabb sat out the contest with minor injuries. Nikita Mescheriakov and Spencer Jennings did not suit up due to NCAA transfer rules.

What do you think Hasa? 84-44 to the team picked to be last in the ACC. & I don't mean that as a 'slight' aimed at the Quakes. I'm interested in what you saw.

No slight taken.  We were simply outmatched underneath - the size and speed differences between DI and DIII were apparent.  We do not have anyone on this year's team who's yet shown me he'll be able to play at the Ben Strong/Tyler Sanborn level.  Let's face it, the last place team in the ACC would be the first place team in the ODAC.  Guilford will not win 30 this year, but I think we're still a good DIII team.  Expect the offense to primarily come from the guard positions - Josh Pittman will probably put up 16-20 most nights.

True, but HPU and the Big South are not WFU and the ACC either.  :)

The Jackets early schedule is a little hairy and ALOT scary!!TWO early tournaments-the first at Gettsburg which doesen't look too bad but the following weekend at Wabash has Wisconsin -La Crosse,Wabash, and Otterbein.... :o ??? -Then we open our conference Schedule with VWC on Dec 1st(ouch) followed by EMU in Harrisonburg(DOUBLE OUCH!!),then Lynchburg Then GUILFORD in Ashland(TRIPLE OUCH!!) Then Averett, then our Christmas Tournament with us,Hood and Johns Hopkins  all before the first of the year!!By then we should know how the year is gonna go-that's before alot of teams have really even been tested yet-WOW! :-\ :o ;)

They will definitely be tested early and often, but that is what builds character, and this group has certainly played in plenty of big games, and there is no doubt that Coach Davis and Co will be well prepared and meet those challenges...you have to figure if they make their way through the early portion of the schedule with success they will poised to make a nice run in a fairly deep ODAC...good to get some of those tough ones out of the way early, and they can certainly cement a high ranking come 2011 with a good showing!  Monday cant get here quick enough!  Ready to get going!  Go Jackets!

I think they lost to Mt. Olive but they drubbed VSU... final score of 73-60 and they were up by 18 at one point in the 2nd half.. the Marlins will be VERY good this year... one of the deepest teams they've ever had

Jackets are home tonite vs. Marymount and I saw an article in the Va Pilot(Norfolk Paper) this morning about the Fish from VWC, who face Salisbury in the Fish Tank in Va Beach tonite at 7. If I had enough sense to post a link to the article I'd put it here..... :PThe Virginian-Pilot website is pilotonline.com -one of you more computer-literate guys can probably find it and post the link.... ???Its a really good article on VWC and the upcoming season!
