I haven't seen them play yet, but they are the same guys that made it to the Elite Eight last year.  No one from that team is gone!

Tood Phillips leads the team, with 16.5 points and 5 rebounds a game.  George Johnson is averaging 16.5 points/game.  D. J. Hinson has been averaging 11.4 points and Eli Crawford another 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.  Randell Smith, Randall Thorne, and Orie Pancione are all averaging another 8 to 9 points/game.

About 1/3rd of their shots are from behind the arc, but they're hitting only 29% of those to date.  Their foul shooting has also been pretty bad (.658).

The Runnin' Royals will face their toughest opponent so far this season tomorrow night in Hampden-Sydney.  Neither EMU nor Hampden-Sydney has yet lost a DIII game.  There is only one team who has been a common opponent of both EMU and H-SC: Shenandoah.  Both EMU and H-SC beat Shenandoah by approximately 10 points.  While EMU, playing at home, must be the favorite .... the game will be fast and furious and should be a good one!

As usual, a very succinct and detailed reply. Thanks Algernon! 8-)

I've seen EMU play twice so far this season. They have yet to reach there stride, but you have to be excited about the pieces that are in place.  I think it is safe to say the Runnin' Royals are a deeper team than they were last year! EMU has several key contributors as freshmen that come off the bench, plus the returners from last year. From the couple of games that I've seen, the Royals are going to need to play more consistent from start to finish especially with HSC and RMC coming to town this week! The Runnin' Royals this week will need to shoot better from the foul line, limit 2nd chance points for the opponents, and use there athleticism to get to the basket especially when the 3 pointer isn't falling. Go EMU!

I am here! Just trying to stay low key. Crenshaw will rock tonight !!! Wish I could be there.
Here's hoping that R-MC and HSC( not a misprint) take care of things.

   GO JACKETS!!!!

Unbelievable defense by EMU plus 3 point shooting - 16 turnovers by HSC with 5 for EMU - 43-25 score - George has been held down to 4 points - rebounds about even - HSC 4 for 9 from line but missed first 5 - they need to settle down and I believe that they will.

EMU defense is the difference in this game .... no question about it.  With 3 minutes left, the Tigers have committed 27 turnovers, which may very well be a (negative!) team record.

The Tigers will have to tighten up over the course of the coming weeks .... and can hopefully get a win on the road at Randolph next Wednesday and come back strong after the Christmas break.  This is the only time the Tigers will get a shot at the Royals during the regular season .... but they might get another shot in the tournament semifinals or finals!

Todd Phillips finishes the game with 999 career points ... and will top 1,000 career points on Saturday against the Yellow Jackets.

Thanks, algernon.  Guilford all over NCWC from the get go ... it was 36-18 at the half.  I think the Bishops only shot about 29% for the game.  Very balanced scoring for Guilford with a lot of guys contributing.

Jackets don't get it done in Crenshaw and fall by 2 to VWC.Wasn't able to even listen last night-can someone give me a little more than what the news story said? I saw Nathan Davis got "T"'d with a costly one when we were down 2 points for VWC to push it to 4 under the 2 minute mark.I know the Fish are very talented and deep-they obviously beat us down the stretch. We better wake up!-got the EMU's on saturday night in their house...... :o......Congrats to VWC on an early big win!Gonna be a WILD YEAR in the ODAC I think! ;) :P

Congratulations to the Marlins for a great win last night. Down to the wire. Another hard fought battle against two really good teams.   The ODAC seems to have a wealth of talent again this year and I am looking forward to one of the best seasons ever.    Go Marlins!!!

3 words:  missed layups & turnovers!  Marlins are super aggressive & they bottled up Danny Jones all night.

Jackets must get a handle on the turnovers!  GO JACKETS!!
