Jackets don't get it done in Crenshaw and fall by 2 to VWC.Wasn't able to even listen last night-can someone give me a little more than what the news story said? I saw Nathan Davis got "T"'d with a costly one when we were down 2 points for VWC to push it to 4 under the 2 minute mark.I know the Fish are very talented and deep-they obviously beat us down the stretch. We better wake up!-got the EMU's on saturday night in their house...... :o......Congrats to VWC on an early big win!Gonna be a WILD YEAR in the ODAC I think! ;) :P

3 words:  missed layups & turnovers!  Marlins are super aggressive & they bottled up Danny Jones all night.

Jackets must get a handle on the turnovers!  GO JACKETS!!

Thanx Guys! Had a feeling that the Fish would be that way-we need to go back to basics,I think, before we get too far in a hole EARLY! Its certainly not time to panic, but we need to start righting this ship-NOW!Defense and teamwork on offense got us here......we need to dance with what brought us this far..... ;)

I'm obviously a VWC fan, but I think last night, what did the Yellow Jackets in was Eric Pugh not making shots and Danny Jones not being as aggressive as he could have been. Pugh was getting himself open alot but he just wasn't hitting his shots.. he shot 5-19 and 0-6 from the 3 point stripe. Also, I think RMC needs more from Jordan Brown. He tends to fade away at times, and a player like him could have 20 most nights.. he's bigger and athletic that most players at his position and has a respectable shooting stroke. Calvin Croskey kinda disappeared at times last night. The Yellow Jackets are gonna need more from these guys in order to make another deep tourney run. Even though I HATE RMC, I still think they have a very talented team... they're just gonna need more from their main guys down the stretch if they want to make another final 4 trip.

Good analogy DeWayne and RIGHT ON I might add! Although we differ in our favorite teams,we do agree here! ;) ;D :)

I also agree.  The Fish are becoming our Hampden-Sydney in basketball (though nothing makes me happier than when we beat those dang Tigers ;D). I thought we would at least split with VWC this year, though this was not the game I had in mind.

I really like the way this rivalry is developing. ;D  HATE? DeWayne???  Strong words. Them FIGHTIN' words.  Can't wait for the rematch!!

Just reviewed the play by play & you're right, Eric Pughwas cold last night & he missed 2 of the 5 layups missed by the team (...10 points that had looked pretty certain).  Only 9 turnovers---but, seemed like so many more.

Danny Jones couldn't be aggressive:  every time he put his hands over his head he got called for fouling. :(  We think revenge will be had & as the Tigers found out last year at ODACs, sometimes it comes at the worst possible time.  :)       GO JACKETS!!!

Just wanted to chime in a little on the VWC-RMC game last night.  I think DeWayne hit on a lot of what I thought was hurting the Jackets, they just missed a lot of shots that I expected them to hit.  I think they were 1-10 from three, and while most of the shots were decently contested, they did miss some that were fairly open.  I think both teams are pretty evenly matched, and it was a good game throughout with lots of 5-9 point runs by both squads.

Someone asked a little earlier about the T on Coach Davis - from my perspective (as a Marlin fan), I thought he had some reason to be a little upset.  He got it after several shot attempts were blocked in the paint.  It clearly looked like a foul or two was missed in the exchanges, but it was just an unfortunate time to get the T.  For what it's worth, I thought the officiating was pretty bad throughout - both ways.

RMC1982 - I, too, like the way this rivalry is progressing.  In my mind, a win over RMC means a lot because their teams have always been well-coached, and really good.  Both teams are really, really good this year, and that next game in the Fish Tank should be a lot of fun.

IMHO a two point win comes down to 2 things, LEADERSHIP AND GUTS!!!!!  Last night VWC had 'em R-MC did not!
I said last year I dislike early season rankings. Last two games for the Jackets show why. Alot of early hype and nothing to show for it.

I definitely agree with you.  I talked with Eli Crawford the other day and he said, "we are not going to sneak up on anybody this year." Emu is ranked #3 in the nation and we still have to play ball.  no one is going to roll over and let us have it.  in fact teams are going to want to be the ones to ruin our season.  it doesn't matter that we have all our starters back.  should be a good year, and we are prepping for the yellow jackets.  looks like VWC is the ones to beat but they only beat Macon by 2.  it should be a good game Saturday nonetheless.

also on the officiating, i think it has been poor reffing last year and thus far this season all around.  i played basketball down at Prince Edward county in high school and i think the reffing in the ODAC is worse than i remember back in high school not to long ago.

Randolph just got a last-second road win at BC, 74-73.  I scanned the boxscore and it looked like a tight game start to finish.

Any scouting report on the Eagles?  Guilford travels there on Saturday.

Even though I HATE RMC-by God dewayne- the "w" in your name does not deserve to be a capital after that comment, nor the d.

I am almost to the point where I'd rather for my Yellow Jackets take a fall to the ever disliked HSC than to the elite atheletes that  are allowed to attend a certain college in Norfolk.

Now that certainly sounds better than "HATE"

Emu435

Wasn't this the same scenario as last year.  i still remember the game when Macon walked into EMU as the number 1 team in the nation and they walked out with a very bad loss.  hopefully saturday will be no different than that game.  only we are the higher ranked team, and hopefully we will get it together.  we have not played up to our potential yet this year.  if we click i dont see how we can lose.  our bench is so deep this year, and the recruitment of R.J. is so big.  GO ROYALS!!!

DeWayneCarter

Hey guys.... off the court..... I wish RMC and all their players the best.... but I can't say I'd be upset to see those guys lose every game they played  ;) unless they play against EMU haha... truthfully its all love over here.... I think the ODAC is the best conference out of any division in any sport... there's nothing like a good ODAC basketball game!

It is a very rare pleasure to see W&L sitting at 5-0, 1-0. I know it never happened in my time there, so I'm pleased to see our boys (and girls) following up on our football success. With the heart of the ODAC ahead, I'm looking forward to being competitive all season long. I'll leave the real gloating to the fish and, usually, the bumblebees, but I'll take what little I can get so far this year...

yj424 - the "j" stands for "josh," right?

How nice to have another Gennies fan touting the team. They're young and will undoubtedly hit some speed bumps. It is nice to see them experience some early season success.

Where's Denbow's Roomie? He'd be shocked at his alma mater thus far.
