Hasa- we may have won the game but Pittman won the stat stuffing contest  :o
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

W&L gets back to winning with a nice victory over Guilford. A couple week break followed by a trip to Emory and we'll have to see if the layoff helps the Generals prepare.

Randolph 74 and HSC 57 - HSC could not get it going at either end tonight - Randolph's defense kept them contained and then Randolph's teamwork on offensive was very efficient - they made some great backdoor plays for easy baskets plus the ball bounded their way repeatedly - time for a break!!

Mr. Ypsi

algernon,

Barring a collapse, it looks like I may have to remove Randolph from the "ODAC irrelevant teams" list!  They seem to be learning this men's bball thingy real quick! ;)

If you can get Lynchburg, E&H, and Bridgeport up to snuff, you just might have the quickest rise ever from 'mid-major' conference to #1! :o ;D

The UAA looks (at least for now) somewhat down.  The bottom of the NESCAC looks no better than the bottom of the ODAC (if even as good).  But I warn you, the WIAC and CCIW won't yield the top two slots without a fight! :D

People really need to just stop being surprised when Randolph beats someone that they aren't supposed to based on meaningless preseason rankings, especially when it's at their place which is a very tough place to play. They consistently have beaten or taken teams down to the wire that are supposed to be better than Randolph just because Randolph is still relatively new (examples below). They are as well coached of a team as there is in the ODAC, they always play high quality D, and they play very efficient on offense. They don't have the best talent (although Colton Hunt is a big time player), but they are very smart, play hard, and they compete and play hard for all 40 minutes and teams have to match that energy to beat them.

Examples:
Obviously H-SC today
at W&L earlier this year
last year at Bridgewater
last year home against Randolph-Macon
last year home against W&L
two years ago at VWC
two years ago home vs. Guilford
two years ago home vs. H-SC
two years ago home vs. W&L

^ yes, we agree with you, Randolph men are a force to be reckoned with & no one can look past them.  Guess it's their coach- his recruiting is amazing.  (Why can't they do the same thing with all those women students?  The other night, the Jackets beat the Wildcats 90something-30!!)

We were Christmas partying last night & missed the Jackets game, but are looking forward to seeing Guilford here Sat.  Looks like all the Jackets got floor time last night in warming up for the weekend.  If you're coming to Ashland for the game, wear your heavy coats... it's really cold here.

GO JACKETS!!!

I'd like to add that Tyler Sanborn sat out the Randolph/Guilford game two years ago due to illness.  That year, I'm pretty sure Coach Palombo thought the Quakers could win even without him in the line-up.

Not to ruffle any feathers but..... VWC has always beaten Randolph by at least 15 points every time they've played...... that's always a game where bench players get in at the end haha *feathers have been ruffled*  ;) ;) ;D

I, for one, would wish that VWC went to the USA-South,  where they belong.  Now that's ruffling feathers!

It can't possibly be as cold as it was last January when Guilford went to Ashland.  That was the 16-inch snow weekend!  When I checked out of the Henry Clay Inn on Sunday morning, I dropped my car keys next to my SUV in the parking lot and it took me 45 minutes to find them. Yikes!  A trip I'll never forget!
