A very, very good Randolph team gave the Marlins almost more than they could handle.  The Marlins are a very thankful team tonight pulling out a slim 3 point victory 53-50.    Congratulations also to RMC and Guilford  on their victories tonight .

I knew that Randolph would give the Marlins a game, Randolph was up by 2 with a minute left but VWC is a very good team that held their ground and didnt panic

It was a very tough game in Crenshaw tonight & could have gone either way.  George Johnson can hit a 3 from anywhere, just about any time he wants to.

But, Danny Jones was amazing.  As for that 3 by Kevin V to close the 1st half?  We've been waiting 4 years to see that awesome kid pull something like that off.  It was well worth the wait.

Go JACKETS!!!  And congrats to all the winners tonight.
Danny Jones has been saving our bacon quite a bit so far.  While I'm glad for the win, I'd prefer not to play the EMUs again this year.

Danny Jones has really improved over the years. I think it was the fact that he was able to come out of his shell after having to play a supporting role to Scottie Reynolds in high school.

Only ODAC wins algernon.  Non-conference does not count.

Apparently, the record includes only regular season conference games (and not the conference games played during the ODAC Tournament), as Tony Shaver won more than the 231 wins that is Page Moir's record, if you include conference games during tournament play.

Shaver's Record:
Regular Season ODAC Games:                 207- 81 (.719)
ODAC Tournament Games:                       31-  9 (.775)
ALL ODAC Games (tournament included):  238- 90 (.726)
Overall HSC Record:                             358-120 (.749)

Nicely done, algernon.  +1  Now, that begs the question:  How many ODAC tournament wins did Moir have if they're not part of his 231 total?

Actually, I was just about to post the record about which you ask, Hasanova!   ;D

Page Moir's Record (through 1/12/11):
Regular Season ODAC Games:                 231-234 (.497)
ODAC Tournament Games:                         22-18 (.550)
ALL ODAC Games (tournament included):  250-250 (.500)
Overall Record at Roanoke:                    364-214 (.628)

I enjoyed meeting and talking with Coach Moir when I visited Roanoke College with a college applicant (who was not a basketball recruit).  He came over to us and was very welcoming ... spoke to us for 10-15 minutes ... very engaging and friendly, and we really appreciated his sincere hospitality.

Thanks, algernon, but the wins and losses don't quite add up (231 + 22 = 253 and 234 + 18 = 252).  Are some of these figures in error?

I do not see Harrison George's name in the box score. Is he OK?

You're right, hasa.  It should be as follows:

Page Moir's Record (through 1/15/11):
Regular Season ODAC Games:                 231-235 (.496)
ODAC Tournament Games:                         22-18 (.550)
ALL ODAC Games (tournament included):  253-253 (.500)

Harrison was ill ... possibly a concussion, but I'm not sure.  He was on the bench but not dressed out for the game.  His absence made a huge difference in the Tigers' performance.  My understanding is that he will likely be back for the W&L game, but this remains to be seen.

Khobi Williamson (averaging 6.5 pts and 6.1 reb. in 18 min/game prior to Christmas) is still recovering from mono and only played 11 minutes.

The Tigers were 1 for 18 from three-land yesterday ..... and you certainly can't win when you're hitting only 5.6% from behind the arc.  As usual, there were way too many turnovers (23).

Hopefully, Harrison will be back on Wednesday when the Tigers travel to Lexington and they'll finally get their first ODAC on-the-road victory.
