Nice come from behind win for the Generals at Greensboro last night.  I think W&L trailed 40-27 in the first half and then were up by 12 before the final 82-76 score.

They trailed 23-4.
Wow.  19 points.  It's a good thing there are two halves and 40 minutes.

rmc1982 - Sorry to say, I am not. It's the one game I wanted to see. I hope to get to the Marlins versus the fighting Emus next Monday night in Harrisonburg. I really think that the RMC - VWC game just might be one of the best ODAC clashes this season. I will be glued to my wireless! May the best team win ;D

JWW-Like DonHo I am very wary of KingFish and his fast-maturing "school"of "new fish".They are probably the most dangerous of all of the DIII schools in terms of explosive ability. The one thing they DON'T have is what WE have-experience in pressure-filled situations.I know we R-MC people talk alot of smack but among ourselves we are scared to death of your team!!They are so untested, however, that we don't quite know what to expect from them.In all honesty, the majority of  us feel(and this is just us alumni knocking it around-nothing the team or Nathan has said)that we have to slow you down and put you in those pressure-filled situations to see if you crack and we have a chance to win(notice I said CHANCE)Whether or not you do or you will remains to be seen, especially in the KingFish's house! They are extremely well-coached,athletic beyond belief, and so young that they're not afraid of anything-THAT'S WHATS SO SCARY!Are we capable of beating VWC???? ABSOLUTELY! Do we have the horses and the maturity do do it?? Absolutely!AM I extremely confident going into tomorrow night's game-.......well.....not exactly.... ;) :D ::) :P......Like you said, may the best team win...sorry you can't make it, though!....and I hope we're READY!! GO JACKETS!!

As an RMC and DIII fan, it may be blaspheme to say, but the biggest game Wednesday night is not RMC/VWC, but Duke/UNC! ;D

Glad the Guilford/W&L game's at 7 and Ragan-Brown's only a 10 minute drive from my house - with luck, I should be able to watch both!  :)

Actually, the Fish were tested at Guilford and (thankfully) the Marlins did not connect in the last few minutes.  It was a pressure-packed game throughout and, on that day, the shots didn't fall at the end for VWC.  On that day, the score was relatively low (64-61) and neither team ever had a commanding lead.

Which is exactly the game we want to see Hasa!If we can play that kind of game with them we're gonna be happy! It was that kind of game in Ashland early in December-we lost by a bucket, and the game could have gone either way.Our concern is NOT to get into a running-type situation at their place which can happen. With an older, more experienced team we hope to try to dictate TEMPO-Remember that I said earlier in the week that TEMPO was going to be key here-it is OUR FRIEND if we can control it-if not we will get COOKED!....GO JACKETS!!

Donho- Yes, in fact EMU did blow you out by 23 last season. You are also correct, you beat EMU in the second round of the tournament by 2 pts. Not to mention I think you made it to the final 4 last year and EMU was knocked out in the Elite 8. What is so ironic about that is the fact EMU finished #4 in the nation and RMC #5 in the final rankings!!!! So a win is a win, unless by 27 early!! haha Giving EMU the better final ranking!
I'll take the final four over the higher ranking every single day of my life.

78rmc..... the RMC/VWC game was appropriately scheduled on the night UNC/Duke play..... I know RMC and HSC is a heated rivalry, but theres no team that VWC gets more hype to play against than Randolph-Macon. That goes back to the Macedo vs. Rhoades friendship and the friendly rivalry they've had. Those teams know each other and they're tendencies so well.

rmc1982 with respect to slowing VWC down, I feel like RMC has always done a great job of doing that to the Marlins... keeping the score low and making them play a physical, grind it out game. The score to this years matchup @RMC was 59-57.. and I remember one year at the beach the final was like 51-38, and VWC had to go on like an 18-0 run to start the 2nd half to even get that many points. It's going to be a slugfest, and I think that the slugfest that VWC had against RMC earlier this year will prepare them for tomorrow nights game... which I will be in attendance of  8-)

Macedo and Rhodes played against each other in college and continued that rivalry when both became coaches in the ODAC.  They becames great friends as well as adversaries.  Coach Macedo  and his staff will have the team ready for a very determined and talented RMC team with much more experience than the young Marlins.  Whether the Marlins will be able to handle the pressure of a "BIG " game remains to be seen.  One thing is certain.  The "Tank " will be rocking with a SRO crowd.  Anyone planning on attending  the game please see the notice about ticket sales  at the VWC site.   I agree that "TEMPO" might be a huge factor in the game.  I hope the Jackets like to run and run and run.  It might be a case of who tires first, but it"s gonna be a great game, regardless.  Good luck to both teams.  GO MARLINS!!!!!!!!!

Tempo shmempo! When the Marlins came to Ashland in December I was impressed with their half court offense. They ran good plays, screened well and made shot after shot. Their defense was great. Great preparation on Macedo's part and his squad delivered. Marlins never really looked like they wanted to run. And they rebound well. By far the best talent in the ODAC.

Tough road for the Fishies. RMC Wednesday. At HSC Saturday and at EMU Monday. Will they go  3-0, 2-1, 1-2 or 0-3? After that, their road is clear til tournament time.

DeWayneCarter

The first thing that VWC looks to do is get their primary break going.... first and foremost they want to run. That being said they also do have alot of half court plays because obviously you arent going to be able to run all the time... but when they get the opportunity, they run... if you don't believe me watch the film of the Roanoke game, when they had 7 dunks... they weren't half court dunks... those guys like to run but they play halfcourt ball when they have to.

DeWayne-Great article on Macedo and  the Fish in Bob Molinaro's column in the Norfolk Va Pilot this morning! What did you do -call him and tell him we're gripin'??? ;) :D ;D.....Whatever you did-IT WORKED!!One of you more computer-literate junkies post a link, if you will please...... ;) ::) ??? :P
