rmc1982, I agree that you want to control the tempo and keep the score in the 55-65 point range versus VWC.  The Marlins are talented, but not every young player makes the best decisions or is calm when it's one shot or one defensive stop for the game in the waning seconds.

I agree Hasa! and 424 I do not agree!! I think VWC is a good 1/2 court team too, but it will definitely be the kiss of death if we try to run with them.I will take the lesser of the two evils and keep the game in the 50's or 60's where we have the best chance to win ANY DAY over rolling the dice and running with a team that is tailor-made for that! They may not crack, they may handle the pressure very well and beat us anyway, but then we gave them our best shot and THEY TOOK IT!I'll never be ashamed if you do every thing you can, you leave it all on the court, and you still lose........You can look yourself in the eye tomorrow morning and know you did everything you could........ ;) :) ;D

I feel like driving to Va Beach RIGHT NOW I'm so amped for this game..... VWC hasn't had an SRO crowd since they hosted the NCAA Tournament games in 07... and the feeling in Batten during those games was electric... I personally hope for TEN dunks from the Marlins tonight to top the seven from the Roanoke game   ;)

I personally hope you're wrong DeWayne for our sake!! :o ;)...As for the SRO crowd, we are having a Yellow Jacket Club reception in the campus center before the game and were concerned about tickets.Luckily those of us who are registered for the reception have a block of tickets waiting-we were concerned about getting in after all of the hoopla on our Hampton Roads media outlets the last couple of days! Should be a GREAT atmosphere tonite! The kids playing should LOVE this! Like Nathan said on the radio saturday after the W&L game, this is why you come to VWC or R-MC to play basketball-to participate in these kinds of games. If you can't get "Amped up" for this game, like you say, you shouldn't be playing! Good Luck and good health to ALL players tonite!Go JACKETS!

DeWayne/rmc1982 - yikes! I'm jealous. I guess I'm the only person who isn't going to this game. Great article in the VA Pilot. Almost sounds like the Marlins are the underdogs. I would expect that the Yellow Jackets are a little nervous too :D Good luck. This is a HUGE game, not only for the teams involved but for ODAC and DIII.

JWW... me and Pete were goin bucket for bucket for a couple posessions in the alumni game saturday haha

DeWayne - Pete was excited because he said this was the first year he was on a winning team. I guess he got together with Josh Fisher and Bill Gobble afterward. He said neither of them played because they aren't in very good shape. Pete still plays every weekend and occasionally goes up against Pittsnogle. Boy, I sure wish I could attend tonight's contest. I bet Billy Greer is going to go berserk :)

Billy Greer will indeed go berserk.  Should be a great game, though it's the matchup in the tournament that really matters.  FOr Billy's sake, good luck to the Marlins, but for mine, I hope we win. GO JACKETS.

It's really kind of ridiculous that North Carolina Wesleyan (15-6, 10-4) is ranked #8 in the regional rankings while EMU (16-4, 10-4) is unranked.  What are those who are doing the ranking thinking???

And here's the record of these two teams against common opponents:
VS Hampden-Sydney ... NCW lost by 14 ... EMU won by 16
VS Guilford ... NCW lost by 17 ... EMU won by 12
VS Shenandoah ... NCW won by 19 and won by 14 ... EMU won by 14
VS Averett ... NCW won by 17 ... EMU won by 8
VS Ferrum ... NCW lost by 6 ... EMU won by 6

EMU has fewer losses, the same record in regional games (10-4), and in games against 5 common opponents, EMU is 5-0 while NCW is 3-3.
