Seatfiller,
If you are talking about this year's game at LC, George got injured during that game and missed at least the next game against BC with a concussion.  He sat out the remainder of the LC game due to the blow he took that caused the concussion.

I was at the LC game and don't remember the injury, Brian, but my memory is sometimes less than videotape-quality ...  ;)   Harrison was playing with less than 2 minutes left, according to the play-by-play, and had a total of 26 minutes that night. Maybe his concussion occurred in the last minute of play. Whatever happened, it appears that the benching story is just that ... a story. My sense is that Harrison's development as a "team member" from his first to his second year was outstanding and that Coach Vick wanted him on the court as much as possible.

Cam Anderson reportedly had an offer from UVA and was being recruited by Radford and George Mason.  Here is a short film highlight of the Blue Ridge team, with the focus on Anderson (#10) beginning at 25-30 seconds in .....  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTEF_7TdJKA

In addition to Anderson and Kodie Critzer (VISAA DivII All-State HM), another top H-SC freshman in 2011-2012 will be Hanover's Greg Lewis, a 6'2" PG:

Algernon,
You may be right, but I am pretty sure when I listened to the BC game, the game after the LC game, they said he had an injury and was not playing.  I may be mistaken though.  As long as he is planning to play for HSC again, last year doesn't really matter at this point.

Brian .... It's true that a mild concussion kept him from playing at Bridgewater, but I think the concussion occurred after the Lynchburg game during a practice.

Looks like Mike missed another opportunity.  When it happens, and it will, some University will be very fortunate to have him!

In case no one mentioned this article from the VaSID site:                           The Coach of the Year nod is the fifth honor in last eight seasons for Macedo, who again led one of the top teams in Division III in Va. Wesleyan. He guided the Marlins to a 25-5 record in 2010-11 and a berth in the NCAA Division III Sweet 16. It was the seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament for Va. Wesleyan and the 17th consecutive winning season for Macedo.

The 2010-11 VaSID Rookie of the Year was one of Macedo's top players, as freshman D.J. Woodmore helped lead the Marlins to the 25-win season. Woodmore was named the D3Hoops.com National Rookie of the Year as well as to the 2011 DIIINews National All-Freshman Team. He also earned ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels and was tabbed the D3Hoops.com South Region Rookie of the Year as well. Woodmore led Va. Wesleyan in made field goals, made three-pointers, free-throw percentage and scoring. He averaged 13.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while knocking down 47.7% of his shots.
Congratulations to DJ Woodmore and Coach Macedo. Also a good article at the VWC site.

The story on the grade fixing scandal at Kean is astounding. I hope you all read it. Isn't it amazing to what lengths coaches will go to win, even in DIII.

On a different scale, the same thing has happened in Atlanta Public Schools with about 180 teachers and administrators over the pressure to have good EOG scores - Georgia Bureau of Investigation's been involved in this one.

I read with interest the story on d3hoops about the 20 men's and women's DIII teams meeting in Las Vegas in December for 4 days of basketball. This has got to be expensive. Who pays for all this? Who determines who is invited to participate? Just curious!

Just heard from a colleague who attends the same Friends Meeting as the Pittman family that Josh has a broken wrist - hope that fully recovers in time for fall practice!

I asked the same question - my friend said he didn't see Josh, so he doesn't know - hope not!

The schools pay, like with any of the other tournament of this variety.

Everyone is invited -- it's a matter of who wants to come! At least, until we fill the field. And by we, it's really Sport Tours International. We provide publicity, some logistical support and our name.

Pat - I figured as much but tournaments like this with huge travel have to be very expensive.
