I dare say that this is perhaps one of the most competitive seasons, if not the most competitive, coming up for the ODAC. There are four or five teams that are as strong as I've ever seen. Games are going to be tight, lots of OT, deep benches, and great fun. Let the games begin :o

I don't think RMC will be in the mix, with very little returning and half the team is freshmen.  Who do you consider those team to be, certainly HSC and VWC?

I NEVER count out RMC! I'm thinking VWC, HSC, Guilford, W&L maybe, and my dark horse, Randolph.

Appreciate the respect, but this RMC team is too young, absolutely no (maybe a little with Giggitts) experience on the front line.  Unless there are some real surprises in the freshman class, it'll be a long season in Ashland.

Bless you JWW. From your posting to God's laptop. The Gennies in 4th would pretty much mean their 1st  +.500 season in the ODAC since '08. That would be a wonderful thing.

R-MC's class of 2011 made a huge impact when they were freshmen. From what I read here last season VWC had a number of very talented freshmen who contributed to their success. We'll just have to see what R-MC's class of 2015 has going for it. But the assessment that R-MC is not going to be at the top of the conference seems more likely to be right than wrong.

There are people who post here who know much more about the Jackets than I do, but Croskey and Desgain, as the only seniors and two most experienced players, are clearly the keys to success.

A "little" slow here in Greensboro on the football front.  As I've said before, "Thank goodness for men's basketball and golf."  :)  Look for the Quakers to be a contender again in 2011-12.  Stafford's a senior, Pittman's a junior and there is much more of a supporting cast.

Yep, it's going to be another GREAT year for the ODAC! ;D

What about Croskey and Desgain?

Yes, they are the foundation, but what else do we have supporting them?  In this league, it'll take more than one returning starter to compete at the top.  Adam is one of my favorite players, but he can't do it alone.  You usually don't win with freshmen, and I'm not hearing any encouraging news from Ashland.

Look, we lost our top three scorers, 7 of the top 10.  We lost 4 starters and the #6 starter in Danny Jones.  It's hard to replace that in one year.

Agreed. Coach Davis was lucky to come into a program with the kind of talent he had the past two years and he has proven he can coach talented players. It's hard to imagine the Jackets would have had any better records the past two seasons with Mike Rhoades as coach. Now Davis has to start putting together his own kind of teams and it takes three to four years to do that. It certainly took Coach Aruzza that long to put together a solid football program, and he did a great job given that he had less to work with his first couple of years than Davis did. So I expect we might see a couple of "average" seasons from the Jackets before they are back battling for the top spot in one of the best conferences in the country.

In my opinion, VWC and HSC will be the teams to beat. Expectations are VERY high in Tigerland.

y_jack_lok, well said.  Most anyone could have coached the Jackets the last two years and won, given the talent Rhoades left behind.  I'm hopeful, but I agree that RMC is two seasons away from contending for the top spot.

I concur with my friends from R-MC,and I will say that although this will still be a R-MC Basketball team and we WILL compete, this year may be more "R-MC Light" than a traditional Jackets team.Way too many holes and big shoes to fill to be very competitive all season long.Yes-we will pull off a few upsets and will be in every game.We will play well at home-but all in all I think this will be a rebuilding year.
