VWC is no. 1 in the D3hoops top 25, Hampden-Sydney is #23... EMU & RMC receiving votes.. surprised to see Guilford not receiving votes as well
Guilford's coming off a 16-10 season in which they dropped their last three games.  I think the 2011-12 Quakers are in a position where they'll have to "prove" their way back to the Top 25 ... and that's fair.

Likewise, RMC is 'receiving votes' for last season and will quickly 'prove' their way off the list.

I'm not buying into this RMC thing. They are always good and will be a difficult win for every ODAC team. Might not be a compete on a national basis this year but will cause problems in the league. I've watched them too long to think otherwise.
I hope HSC will be as good as advertised. It has been a long time since HSC has put a really good team on the floor. Sounds like Coach Vick has put together a really good group and I'm looking forward to the season (as much as a football junkie can look forward to b'ball).

Pat Coleman - nice job on the men's top 25 teams - very insightful. The Marlins have a lot to prove this year especially because not one Marlin is on the top 25 pre-season All American list. I hope that by the end of the season a Marlin is there ;D

They got some tough games early, theyre at home to start the season going against #13 Emory, then got a pretty good Ferrum squad the next game and then an away game against a D2 Bluefield state team  :o

http://hscathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2011-12/roster has info on new HSC freshmen.

Looks like the preseason favorite in the USA South is NC Wesleyan, followed by CNU.  HSC plays NC Wesleyan on Sunday the 27th at a tournament at UMW.

Badcall- bossman was correct, he forgot about the academic part of the equation.. best of luck to him.

Interesting year for R-MC coming up.  Davis had alot of success the last two years with Rhoades' recruits.  Now we get to see how well he does in that area as well.  Think we'll be competitive, but I'm not expecting too much this year.  We will see.

According to the RMC faithful they aren't going to do as well as 4th so I'd be inclined to flip #7 W&L into 4th and flip #5 and #6, EMU moving into the #5 spot. Now, I think we've got something :o

What's happened to Roanoke the past few years?  They used to be in the upper half of the ODAC all the time, but lately they're not in contention.  To paraphrase Kermit the Frog, "It's not easy being Maroon."    :-\

I don't give too much credence to coach's preseason polls, as I think they're much more concerned about getting their respective teams ready and probably know very little about the other teams at this point in the pre-season.  Once the season starts, then the scouting starts, but for now they're focus in developing what's they're putting on the floor.  That being said, I think this board probably has evaluated the comparative talent more, thus I'd agree more so with jdubyadubya's list.

"Meet the Quakers" night at Guilford's Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 pm.  I'm looking for a great season of Quaker basketball!
