Croskey makes 3 pointer at buzzer for RMC to beat EMU 87-86!!

I'm not sure which is more shocking, EMU damn near beating Macon in Macon after how horrendous they looked on Wednesday or Bridgewater whipping Guilford at Guilford.

On a H-SC note, Tigers didn't play overly well but got the W. Harrison George also scored 26 today to finish the game with 1,000 career points.

Final scores : VWC over Emory&Henry 73-50.  Bridgewater over Guilford 71-54.

Not their best game, for sure, but the Tigers hold on to get a clear win against Ferrum, 81-72.  Great defense made the difference.

Harrison George finished with 26 points and got a big applause from the crowd when it was announced that he'd achieved 1000 career points in this, the 7th game of his junior year.  Barring injuries, Harrison could get 2000-2200 points by the end of his senior year, which would put him 2nd after Russell Turner in the HSC record books.

Freshman Cam Anderson had 12 points and 5 rebounds in 24 minutes of playing time, freshman Greg Lewis scored 11 points and played great defense in 26 minutes on the court, and Ben Jessee had 10 points on perfect shooting (3-3, 2-2, 2-2), to go along with 5 assists.

The next game for the Tigers, on Wednesday against Randolph, is a BIG one.  The Wildcats return Colton Hunt, Derrick Woods-Morrow, and Malcomb Nelson from a team that finished very strong in 2010-2011 and they beat Ferrum last Sunday by 12 points.

Nova, you picked the right four.

Right now, I see HSC and VWC as the most likely to finish the regular season at the top of the conference and would put RMC and Lynchburg (7-1, imagine that!) a step below, followed by Randolph, Guilford, EMU, and maybe W&L.  That's just my sense of things.

Looks to me like Calvin Croskey almost single-handedly won the game for the Jackets.  In 35 minutes of play, he hit 8 of 9 shots from behind the arc and scored 30 points!  Croskey scored all 8 of the Jackets' points in the last minute of play.

^ Yes, Croskey was a force of nature today!  But, EMU came to Ashland to PLAY today and play they did.

One of the keys in this game was fouls.  Box score shows EMU with 23 and R-MC with 29 but we think that's incorrect.  Dylan Cole had 4 fouls based on scoreboard display of #44 4 (not 3) and we think Marcus Badger also had 4, not 3.  Two R-MC men (Simon & Walker) fouled out with plenty minutes left, which is unusual for the team.  We're pretty sure R-MC had 8-9 more fouls than EMU, not the 6 shown.  In addition, R-MC didn't get nearly as many free throw attempts today (15 of 22) as EMU (27 of 38).  Both teams less than stellar in making the FTs but EMU % was better than R-MC's.

All in all, it was a good win for R-MC including the career high 30 points for a super senior who has been a major contributor throughout his time at R-MC.

Congrats to Harrison George on reaching 1000 and to all the ODAC winners today.

GO JACKETS!!!!

I may need to amend one of my picks after how badly the Quakers played against BC yesterday.  With the result, I'm a little bit glad I wasn't able to go.  :(

Its been a crazy season so far for the ODACs I dont think many people had Lynchburg being this good and they'll face their toughest test tomorrow at RMC

Hey Hasa- Whaddaya a think about tonight's away game for the Quake's. The game might be an indicator of things to come. I'm hoping the Gennies can step up. It wouldn't hurt if we were the beneficiary of some home cookin' too. Good Luck!

Harrison had 23 points in only 20 minutes of play.  Randall Ward played for 23 minutes, and Harrison was one of 9 other Tigers who played for 11-20 minutes, with an additional 5 players getting in during the final 3 minutes.

Tigers had 12 steals and 5 blocks, committing only 13 turnovers, compared to Randolph's 24 turnovers.

Final in Lexington:  Guilford 96, W&L 67

I'm answering your question after the game is already over, but I was worried about this contest.  Guilford did not play very well against NCWC and BC.  I sort of expected we might lose at NC Wesleyan, but the Bridgewater result caught me off guard.  So, with that said, the beatdown the Quakers put on the Generals tonight was a relief and a surprise.  I didn't check in until the second half, but I know GC led by 20 at the half and had a 37 point second half lead.  I don't know that we're that good or that W&L is that bad, but for one night, the Quakers put it together.  I'm happy we're 6-2.
