Sounds like a lot of people may need counseling with the lack of D3 ball being played right now.
There once were some men in denial
That hoops were on break - it's a trial!
Yet they bawled with chagrin
As no scores did come in,
"Thank goodness our shrink's on speed dial!"

EMU had to go to overtime to beat Shenandoah? Wow, that is just awful.

Why is that?

Quakers held a 34-29 halftime lead and a late 61-58 lead at St. Mary's (MD), but couldn't hold on in a 70-65 loss to the Seahawks.  SMC hit seven second-half threes to win it.  GC travels to Emory on Saturday for another tough contest against the undefeated Eagles.  Emory entertains Rhodes tonight.

A strange game without the students on campus, more or less a neutral site scrimmage, but very evenly matched teams.  One Guilford player seemed to suffer an injury on a lob play, taking a knee to the shoulder or chest and in obvious pain.  He never returned to the game and I he couldn't even shake hands post-game, offering his off-hand for the obligatory gesture while cradling his injured arm.  I suspected a broken collar bone.  Any word?

No.  Do you know his number and/or position?

No.  Do you know his number and/or position?[/quote]

Checking the Guilford roster, I *think* it was Kevin Gibbs.  The player was in obvious pain for some time so I wondered if it was serious.

It was a strange play.  Gibbs (assuming that's who it was) was fronted in the post by a St. Mary's defender and the Guilford ball-handler lobbed it over the defender.  A St. Mary's guard leaped to cover the backside and caught the overthrown pass cleanly as Gibbs turned and collided with him.  The much larger Gibbs immediately went down, so you knew something odd had happened.

^ Sure hope that's not a broken bone for the Guilford player.

R-MC and Farmingdale get the W's tonight in Crenshaw.  They'll play each other at 7 pm tomorrow night.  Hopefully the Jackets will come away with a win although it's really going to be a tough game.

Baruch v. Kean in the 5 pm game should go to Baruch.  They brought some serious talent to Ashland for this tourney.

GO JACKETS!!!

Thanks.  Kevin Gibbs is a transfer this season from DII St. Augustine's in Raleigh.  He's provided some valuable minutes off the bench.  Sure hope he isn't seriously hurt and can return to the court soon.

The Tigers win by .. like .. 434-52.  No, it was really only 114-62 over Pitt-Greensburg.

Harrison George had 28 points and 8 steals in 21 minutes of play.  Five other Tigers in double figures. Championship game is tomorrow against John Jay at 5pm.

Bold & italics are mine. Do you mean all three visiting teams are good, or that Baruch is good? I was watching until the feed cut out early in the 2nd half, and Baruch was a well organized team on both ends of the floor.

At 5pm, the Tigers will play the John Jay Bloodhounds, who defeated Farmingdale 85-76 on November 18 and now have a 7-4 record.

Farmingdale played without AJ Matthews, 7 foot center averaging 23.5 pts and 15 boards, against John Jay. Now 8-2 Farmingdale is a much better team than on 11/18

Tigers win, 110-65. Harrison George and Khobi Williamson each had 20 points and 9 rebounds.

John Jay was playing minus 3 starters. Hampden-Sydney was playing minus point guard Randall Ward, who has a minor ankle problem.

Next game is against the Generals in Lexington on New Year's Day.  Then the Tigers (hopefully 9-2) will host the Marlins (likely 9-1) on Wednesday the 4th!

(Above, we meant Baruch, predicted winner of the consolation game, has a talented team.  But Kean gave them a scare yesterday.)

R-MC beat Farmingdale State 82-75 & it was very close game all the way.  The FS 7 footer (#5) is really good under the basket, but the refs could not spot a walk on a bet.  He's so tall & gangly they forgot to watch his feet.

R-MC had 4 players in double figures, with Croskey the highest at 16.  We liked what we saw from the team last night on both ends.  Freshman point guard Marcus Badger really looks to be settling into his job.

Congrats to all the winners in the holiday tournaments and Happy New Year to all.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Thanks for the explanation about Baruch, and the observations about last night's game. I was able to watch the 2nd half and except for a couple of mental lapses on the offensive end leading to FS steals, I thought the team looked pretty good. When I saw the live stats and the 16 1st half points by the 7 footer I was concerned, but the Jackets obviously solved that problem. I felt badly that Calvin Croskey didn't get named to the all-tournament team. Scoring-wise he certainly turned in two solid performances.

The announcers were referring to FS's 7 footer as a "potential All-American", but not having seen the first half, I'd have to say that's a bit of a stretch.
