Soooo.....what was the HSC SCORE?? You gave us all the other ones....;-).. Jackets are too young and inconsistent- too many young puppies who don't know how to put away a team that's falling apart in the second half!!They had, after a 10-2 run by Bridgewater to cut the lead to three, have soooooo many opportunities to run away with it but bungled it with stupid turnovers. This was a game we EASILY could have lost....:(.....we're lucky Bridgewater played so badly at the end.
Ahh! It was 85-70 Tigers. I started writing the stuff about the game with a couple minutes or so to go then forgot to go back and add the score. I figured Roanoke wouldn't make up the deficit unless they put 6 players on the floor!

I was in a gym far, far away watching another game and following the R-MC live stats on my iPad. Saw the Jackets get and give up several healthy leads and had this very same thought.

Well, Louisiana-Lafayette proved to Western Kentucky this week that it can be done without getting caught ... and they scored the winning basket on the road, no less!

Come on Nova, that can't happen to HSC they have 4 guys in double figures and they have 4 freshmen that are really good. Haven't you  been reading this forum?

Cost the coach his job, too. Or at the very least it was the last in a long line of things that did.

VWC over Haverford 99-47.  Marlins scored first 22 points of the second half and Macedo put subs in with about 15 minutes left to go.  Haverford had no answer for the Marlins today.  11 in a row.  I am amazed at how well this team has played so far this year.  WTG Marlins!!!

Almost every day.  :)

Midseason Awards
Player of the Year - Harrison George. He's beginning to mold into a complete player now with his improvements on the defensive end.
Donald Vaughn and DJ Woodmore got very serious consideration here. If W&L were better, I would consider Ey as well since he is the complete package.

Rookie of the Year - Zach Desgain. He doesn't score as much as the others, but he contributes a lot more in other areas.
Javon McDonald, Damian Edwards, Aaron Adams, and Will Freeman were also under consideration.

Coach of the Year - Hillary Scott. Lynchburg is 9-3 against non-D1 competition, tied for third in the ODAC. When was the last time that happened?
Dave Macedo a close second.

First-Team - Harrison George, Donald Vaughn, DJ Woodmore, JD Ey, Xavier Parham, Colton Hunt
Second-Team - Kwasi Amponsah, Chris Astorga, Austin Chillemi, Khobi Williamson, Andre Simon, Nate Campbell
Third-Team - Logan Singleton, RJ Sims, Ronnie Thomas, Josh Pittman, Lamar Giggets, Ru White

Ben Jessee at HS-C deserves a position somewhere - over 1000 points now and contributes regularly

Extremely hard for any team to get four players when there are only 18 spots. Virginia Wesleyan would get four players before any other team.

Tigers and Yellow Jackets are getting a couple of votes in the Top 25 poll.

Virginia Wesleyan is apparently ranked #2 behind undefeated Middlebury because of their 1st-game loss to Salisbury.  The Marlins are slaughtering their opponents and, in my opinion, would be a very difficult challenge for the Middlebury Panthers, who do not seem to have played any terribly tough opponents so far this season.

Hampden-Sydney has a huge home game this evening against Lynchburg.  Both teams are looking at finishing in the Top 4 of the conference and this game could be important to the end-of-season seeding.  Lynchburg beat the Tigers twice last year!  Crazy.  Which team is Scottie too Hottie supporting? .....  ;)

Todays games and my predictions I think some of you guys forgot what that word means  :P

Washington & Lee @ Roanoke....This one could go either way but I got Noke getting their first ODAC win

Randolph-Macon @Eastern Mennonite...This is a tough one but I got EMU since they barely lost when they played the first time and they will be pumped up to play RMC

Virginia Wesleyan @Randolph...I got VWC in this one as they want revenge for last years ODAC defeat but I think this will be a lot closer then people think

Guilford @ Bridgewater...I think Guilford will be pumped up to beat Bridgewater and this one could turn ugly with Guilford getting the win

Lynchburg @ Hampden-Sydney...I got HSC for the simple fact that they tend to play a lot better at home

HSC 90 Lynchburg 67    George with 28  and 8 rebounds  Wiliamson also 17 - 7 for 7  - 3 for 4 from foul line and 8 rebounds    Great game

R-MC   74
EMU    71  Final

Wish we could have been there but we had other college commitments tonight.  R-MC jumped out to an early lead, but it was "constantly changing leads" from then on to the final seconds.

Lots of fouls on both sides, R-MC shooting poorly from the FT line.  Andre Simon (who, based on the live stats only, appeared to be having a very tough night) hit a 3 with 2 seconds on the clock to break the tie.

What a great road win for the Jackets against a Royals teams that fought hard to win.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Big W for the Tigers over Lynchburg, easily the second best team we have played this year. We did well in the one key area of the game: points off turnovers. Teams are going to turnover the ball against Lynchburg, the key is limiting the easy points Lynchburg creates from the turnovers. While we turned it over 18 times, the good transition defense limited them to just 18 points off turnovers. Force Lynchburg to play halfcourt offense and defense and you have a pretty good chance of winning.
