Interesting.....

Strange is more like it.

I found it interesting because it's January term and half of the students are gone for off-campus internships or for overseas travel.  Also, in years past when both teams were highly ranked there were still tickets.  My interest was where have the tickets gone and what's so different this year?

Maybe, HSC actually got a bigger allotment, thus foregoing the public sale to simplify things?

Lawyer, depending on you to give us an update from Lynchburg tonight, I'm assuming you'll be there?

78, typically I would be there but feel the flu coming on and I think I'm headed home after lunch to crawl into bed until it's gone. :'(

Sold out. Why the article didn't just say that is odd. Few tickets left for H-SC fans, but we'll return the "favor" come February 18!

Hopefully a Jacket's win will make you feel better.

Guilford blitzed E&H in the second half to win 69-55 after trailing 27-26 at the break.  The Quakers had a 20-point lead a couple of times and the reserves mopped it up for the final 14-point margin.  Gabriel Lowder (20), Josh Pittman (15) and Carson Sullivan (10) all in double figures for GC.  Freeman, Monroe and Efird added 7, 7 and 6, respectively.  Damian Edwards with 12 for the Wasps, but no one else in double figures.

The Quakers improve to 12-5, 6-2 while the Wasps drop to 8-8, 2-6.  On to the beach for GC this Saturday ... toss it up and let's see what happens!  Go Quakers!

Congratulations to all of tonight's ODAC winners.

Funny story.  I was at Crenshaw on Tuesday afternoon, just after lunch with an RMC friend in Ashland, and I spoke to the RMC A.D. in the lobby just after entering the building.  He told me there was no public sale of tickets, that they were ALL allotted.  Within a half hour , the news release about NO SALE appeared on the RMC website.  I guess he didn't want any other HSC fans stopping by Crenshaw.

HSC's allotment is as little as it has ever been, perhaps even smaller than last year. Our Athletic Department has made it clear to me that they barely have enough tickets to cover the HSC players' families.

Harrison George's stats last night .... 2 points and 1 rebound in 8 minutes of play.  The HSC news release on the game does nothing to  explain his very limited playing time.

Harrison collided with a W&L player ... I don't know his name, so maybe someone can help me out .... off the ball, with about 6-7 minutes to go in the first half.  The game stopped for 5-10 minutes, as they took care of some blood on the floor.  Harrison immediately went to the locker room, with the Athletic Trainer, and then left with his parents for an Urgent Care Clinic, not returning to the field house until late in the game.  It was unclear what had actually happened, but we found out afterwards that the W&L player lost a couple of teeth in the back of Harrison's head, and Harrison had to be "sewn up" in town.  I spoke with him after the game.  My thoughts are with the W&L player and I'm wondering about his dental situation.

^ congrats to H-SC on the win & hope both players are back to 100% quickly.

Regarding ticket allotments, this is a Presidential Scholarship weekend, with many admitted students & families arriving on Sat. for a day of interviews and tours.  We've also heard there are some other sports having on-campus recruiting this weekend.

Maybe that is the reason that more tickets are "allocated" for this game than usual?  I.e., regardless which team was coming here this weekend, there would be fewer tickets available for sale because of admissions events.  Not saying we know anything about it, but it's doubtful to us that ticket scarcity was planned just for H-SC fans.

Good luck to all the ODAC teams for this important weekend!

GO JACKETS!!!!

2Fans, that's the most logical explanation presented so far.  Allocating the tickets to admissions makes sense, but may diminish some crowd enthusiam if the crowd is half visitors.  I won't be there, so tell me how is goes.

RE: the upcoming RMC/HSC battle on the hardwood - What is the lifetime win-loss record of this rivalry?
An excellent, excellent question!  During the '70s and '80s, RMC was DII (playing in the Mason-Dixon Conference), so I think we only played HSC once a year and the rivalry was not that intense, compared to football.  But, in the '90s, with RMC's move to DIII and the ODAC, the basketball rivalry started and grew in intensity, with HSC getting the upper hand for awhile.

Let me do some research.

DeWayneCarter

I know this is random..... but you know how we think the ODAC has the worst officials? (Some games, yes they do haha) One of the refs, I think his name is Kevin Ayers, also gets a fair amount of ACC games. I remember seeing him officiate Duke/Wake Forest a couple years back. I also spotted him on TV this past weekend. He gave Coach Calipari a tech against Tennessee. I also see some ODAC refs at the high school level and they do the best job compared to the other HS refs I've seen.

So, maybe they're not all THAT bad  ;)
