78rmc & don- we were pretty positive on this Jackets team from the start & glad they've backed up our hopes for the season so far!  If you look at the talent in the Soph & Freshmen classes you have got to give Coach Davis & staff props for recruiting.

Not sure what has happened regarding Evan Jackson now off roster, but if he has transferred it may be in order to get more playing time next season on another team that recruited him?  Think he was a starter at Deep Run & barely got in some games this season.  We will miss him in Ashland:  he is an outstanding young guy & we wish him all the best wherever his path leads.

Good luck to all around the ODAC during this BIG week & weekend.  GO JACKETS!!!

On the flip side of the Evan Jackson issue, is that 7 freshmen are still on the roster and they survived the rigorous academic environment that is RMC.

^ Yes, it never seems to get any easier to have a high GPA at RMC although the professors are saying that students today are not required to write like students in the past-- & we old Jackets posters ALL know what that was like---and that's kinda sad & not a great sign.

As for Evan Jackson, spoke to someone today w/ties to Deep Run & they were going to try to find out at the game tonight what's going on with him.  If we learn anything useful, we'll post it.

R-MC is expecting a sell out for next Wed. against the Marlins, so get your tickets reserved if you can!

GO JACKETS!!!

Final -  Guilford 89, Roanoke 72

Guilford's Gabriel Lowder had a ridiculous boxscore tonight versus the Maroons.  He hit 10 of 11 threes (new school record for made threes in a game), 12 of 17 overall and had 36 points in 28 minutes.  Carson Sullivan was also in double figures with 10.

The Quakers led 42-36 at the break and outscored the Maroons 47-36 in the second.  Logan Singleton (26) and Kwasi Amponsah (18) played well for RC, but it wasn't enough to overcome GC's 14 of 22 beyond the arc.

GC improves to 15-6, 9-3 and RC falls to 6-14, 2-9.

HSCDad

H-SC had a blow out tonight with Bridgewater - up 20 at half and then went 11-0 at start of 2nd - subs started at about 8 minutes to play with final of 87-62 -  Anderson had his first double-double - Jessee was key -early three pointers by Bridgeater kept them in game until about 5 minutes to go and then the height advantage took over - H-SC had about 60 rebounds

The Tigers outrebounded Bridgewater 62 to 33, even though Khobi wasn't dressed out because of an injury.  HSC actually had more offensive rebounds than the Eagles had defensive rebounds.

The Tigers led 74-38, with 9 minutes to play.  At that point, the Tigers brought their "3rd five" players into the game, while the Eagles kept 2-3 starters on the floor until the very end of the game.  Even with their last players on the floor, the Tigers maintained their lead for a number of minutes, with the score at 82-45 with 5-6 minutes to play.  Then the Eagles went on a 17-5 run to end the game, resulting in a final score of 87-62.

  • Ben Jessee had 18 points and 4 steals in 20 minutes.
  • Cam Anderson had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals in 15 minutes.
  • Ru White had 10 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in 20 minutes.
  • Harrison George had 11 points, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in 17 minutes.

Ball control - use as much clock as you can before you look for a shot.  Keep the score in the high 50's or low 60's.

Did that last time at DA Beach Hasa......still lost 63-60!! That IS the way to get 'em, but you gotta have alot of luck and a raucious crowd .......and they have to shoot below average.......Hats off to your guys-they did it in THEIR house, too!!We can't get in a running game or we'll leave our own house with our tails between our legs......just hope to hang with them and have a chance to win at the end......They definitely have our complete respect!!Well-coached and always prepared!

I know, but I think the same strategy has to apply this week also.  There is some luck involved in beating the Marlins, but I think if you try to run with them in a 90-point game, you'll be in trouble.  Hope it's a great game!

Guilford does not have a game this weekend, so last night's game with Roanoke was the Quakers' only contest of the week.  Thinking ahead for POW, I think Gabriel Lowder's 36-point effort will be hard to beat.  He was 10 of 11 on threes (the tenth attempt was trying to set the record after he hit his first nine and was taken from way too deep), 12 of 17 overall and 2 of 3 from the FT line.  I think he'll have to be a leading candidate.

Randolph-Macon is always prepared to play VWC. VWC always struggles to score points agaisnt the Jackets... sad to say I can't make it down for this one, but I'm sure, especially with the seasons both teams are having and with VWC top 3 ranking, Crenshaw Gymnasium will be rocking Wednesday night. Whoever scores 60 first wins this one.

Hey, Yellow Jackets fans.....let's not look past W&L this Saturday in Lexington. That is our most important game at this time.

donho

yj424, you are right on the money. One game at a time. The only game left on the schedule is this saturday at W+L.

^^Yes, we agree w/you all, this weekend's game is a big one at W & L.  Only brought up a later game as a heads up for tix since R-MC caught some bad press for being late to advise of a sell out in another recent big game.

GO JACKETS!!!
