After 20 minutes of trying I got into the Live Stats from D3hoops. Looks like VWC won in the first OT. Maybe 74-71 or so? Wasn't able to get more than a flash before it froze up again and booted me out.

Marlins had 72-71 point lead with 9 seconds to play in the first OT, but Whitworth had the ball and time to win the game.  However, the Whitworth player who received the inbounds turned to dribble and inexplicably lost control of the ball.  A completely unforced turnover!  Looks like the Marlins have it in the bag at this point, since they have a 1 point lead, the ball, and 8 seconds to play.  But the Marlins inbound with a bad pass, and Whitworth steals the ball and goes to the basket with time to score and win the game, but the shooter gets tied up (by Vaughn?) and the Marlins get the ball back on the possession arrow with 2 seconds to play.  D. J. Woodmore gets the inbound pass and is immediately fouled.  He sinks both shots with 1.2 seconds to play to put the Marlins ahead 74-71.  Whitworth makes a long across-court inbound pass, with the hope of getting a shot off, but it is  intercepted by VWC to end the game.  Exciting game.  Marlins play either UW-Whitewater or Wheaton tomorrow evening in the Elite Eight!

Congratulations to VWC for advancing to the Elite Eight.  This deep in he tournament, there are no pushovers (as evidenced by several upsets tonight).  Good luck, Marlins!

Another edge of your seat heartstopper win for the Marlins.  WTGGGGGGGGG !!  Even without Chris Astorga the Marlins came up with the big win.  Cheers to  our "other" Chris who played a super game last night, as did Donald Vaughn.  Not going to be an easy game tonight at Whitewater.  Home court is huge in any tournament but I think the Marlins will match up well.  Macedo will have them ready and the rest is up to them.  GOOOOOOOOOO Marlns!!!

Sad that VWC fell 76-62 to UW-Whitewater - the stats tell it for VWC - 2 for 10 from 3 points for game with 0 for 3 in first half - UW-Whitewater was 6 for 8 in first half or an 18 point margin over VWC in 3 pointers - UW-Whitewater was 7-13 for the game - that's a 15 point margin against a 14 point loss - all the difference in the world  On the foul line - not much better - 10-20 from foul line for game by VWC - all in all a tough loss - home court is a real advantage

Still a nice banner for VWC - ODAC will be back next year

Tough loss for the Marlins. Playing on the road in the tournament is always a tough environment. I didn't get to see the game, but saw that UW-W jumped out to a 15-3 lead and was in control from there. Maybe the OT game last night had something to do with it, I don't know. But congrats to the Marlins on a good year... Regular Season ODAC Champs, ODAC Tournament Champs, Elite 8 appearance. The players at VWC have nothing to hang their heads about this season. Already looking forward to next year.

Home court is huge in any tournament and losing one of your starting 5 takes its toll also.  Chris Astorga's injury hurt the Marlins for certain but UW Whitewater was playing on all cylinders last night and played well enough to win. On another day perhaps the Marlins would have won.  Congratulations to a Marlin team that gave us all a great year.  We shall miss all the seniors who are leaving and thank them for a wonderful 4 years. Good luck to all of you in your future endeavors.  To the Marlins that remain, get some rest now, enjoy all that you did accomplish and know how grateful your fans are to you.  Then be ready in the fall to do it all over again....

The Marlins lose 5 of their top 9 players in Donald Vaughn, Art Crew, Rakeem Davis, Ali Brown, and Jason Burns, but return 4 starters in DJ Woodmore, Chris Teasley, Chris Astorga, and Tre' Ford.  I'm sure they'll be among the top 2-3 teams of the ODAC, as usual.

The ODAC has 9 teams from 5 colleges that have made it to the Elite Eight over the past 10 years:

2003: Hampden-Sydney
2004:
2005:
2006: Virginia Wesleyan
2007: Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford
2008:
2009: Guilford
2010: Guilford, Randolph-Macon, & Eastern Mennonite
2011:
2012: Virginia Wesleyan

The NESCAC is the only DIII conference that has more teams (11) that have made the Elite Eight over the past 10 years.

Four of those five teams have made at least one Final Four Appearance during that time as well.

Thanks, hasa.  It's a great 10 years, for sure.  It could continue, given the high-quality coaches in this league!
