Since Nathan Davis has been at R-MC for only the last three years it appears they mean within the last , say , five years??

This should be fun. On October 20, the 2006 National Championship Team will play the current Marlins team in the Battle at the Batten Center. Might have to make the trip to go see that one. Hope none of those old guys get hurt :o

Not sure how many of you all are subscribed to DIII News but it comes out on October 12th with it's preseason issue. Here is there sneak peek at the top 5 teams in the country.

1. Virginia Wesleyan
2. Wis. Whitewater
3. North Central
4. Wooster
5. Cabrini

As a 82' Graduate of VWC I could not be more excited for a season to start. 2 years in a row as the preseason #1 team in the country is unheard of. Looks like we may have a #1 vs #5 matchup early in the year as VWC and Cabrini could face each other the opening weekend in the VWC tip-off tournament. LETS GO MARLINS!

Not to rain on the parade... but I am not sure Cabrini is going to be #5 in the D3hoops.com Preseason poll. I guess DIII News doesn't realize the team lost it's two best players from last year's team and they don't have THAT kind of talent on the bench (though, they will be good).

Va. Wesleyan will certainly be in the discussion for #1 again this year, I am sure of it. Though, I wonder if voters will be a bit leery considering last year's #1 slot didn't work out that well for the Marlins early on.

There are other issues I have with that Top 5... but this is the ODAC board so I will keep it on topic :).

You are right Dave. Feel free to talk about the Marlins all you like ;D

Considering the Marlins lost only one player, I believe... they should be in that conversation. But they also play in one of the toughest conferences in the country and there are going to be some really good teams in the ODAC this year: RMC, Eastern Mennonite, even Hampden-Sydney and Guilford could make their presence known and we already know what Clay Nunley at Randolph seems to be able to year after year: play for a conference title.

I think an early count has me seeing at least three ODAC teams this year in the regular season... without doing that much travel with my "jobs"... that number could easily climb to more than that if I start making some added trips.

Dave - I hope the VA WES is one of the 3!

I attended the Guilford College Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony last Friday night (Congratulations to the 2002 NCAA Golf Champions for your selection!).  Coach Palombo brought the entire men's basketball team to the induction ceremony and I counted 22 players.  It looked as though everyone was back plus some tall newcomers.  Can't wait!  Go Quakes!

How tall? :o
Freshman Zeb Richardson (#42 at Ashe County, NC HS) is 6'8" and Kevin Gibbs (6'7"), Will Freeman (6"5"), James Robbins (6'6") and Will Koppenhaver (6'6") are returning, among others.

Yes, he does.  I think Richardson is a junior in the video.  His HS team was 25-4 his Senior season and he drew some interest from Southern and Big South Conference schools. I'm very pleased he's a Quaker.  :)
