He's only played 5 games in college, but I offer Guilford's 6'8" Zeb Richardson as "one to watch" for rookies this season.  Zeb's averaging 7.6 ppg and 4.8 rpg in 15 minutes/game playing time.  I hope he can develop in the mold of at least two previous Guilford centers.  :)
To back up my point, Zeb had 16 points (8 of 11), 7 rebounds and a block in 18 minutes versus Greensboro last night.  At 6'8", the kid has great hands and runs the floor well.  Keep your eye on him this season.

Algernon - I liken it to Kobe getting 30,000 career points. ;D

Perhaps Algernon should be tested for steroids.  lol  I still think Hank Aaron has the homerun record and not Barry Bonds. Maybe Algernon would have 10,000 posts if he was a Grinnell fan.  :)

i'm being regularly tested for steroids, Hasa. It's a standard part of the DIII Fan Drug Testing (FDT) program.  ;D

Well, don't lie to Congress or Pat Coleman - I see you've ballooned to 2012 already!

Now I'm at 2013, in anticipation of the coming year.

Re. games...I'm not calling W&L or Lynchburg results because I don't know a thing about Northern Michigan, Manhattanville, etc. I'm taking Randolph over SU; BC over Averett; HSC over Roanoke; and EMU over RMC. I'm purposely avoiding picking a winner in the VWC Vs. Guilford game because it gives me the heebie jeebies even to think about it :o

DeWayneCarter

I wouldn't worry about that too much... I can't remember the last time VWC beat Guilford. Those guys really do have our number

Congratulations to the Marlins on being ranked number one this week in the poll.  While it is quite an honor to be selected number one, it makes the target that much bigger on their backs.  Here's hoping they can live up to the ranking.  Go Marlins!
Ditto.  It raises the level of the whole league when one of our own is the top-ranked team.  :)  Quakers come calling this Saturday - hope we can compete!

I remember the Quakers playing Manhattanville in the 2007 NCAA playoffs and winning by 20.  Their conference is not as strong as the ODAC.  W&L's next game is against Bates on the 19th ... not sure about the Northern Michigan reference. ?  VWC/Guilford games give me the heebie jeebies too ... I get nervous watching or listening.  I know Coach Palombo usually has his team well prepared to play his alma mater.

At H-SC, Coach Vick introduced, today, a new assistant Coach to join along with Tyler Sanborn who joined earlier.  Mario Huffman, a former standout basketball and football player at Averett, will join the H-SC basketball staff next week,  Coach Huffman presently is completing his Masters in Sports Management and Administration at Liberty University.

Busy day in the ODAC

Roanoke gets beat down at HSC 62-100

Randolph beats SU 83-51

VWC beats Guilford 63 to 49

Averett losing to Bridgewater 53 to 72 with 6 mins

Here's an interesting stat from the HSC game ... There were 12 (TWELVE!) Tigers who scored 5-12 points each.

Great team play, with no player really crucial for getting the win. Khobi Williamson and Randall Ward didn't play, due to injuries. Harrison George didn't start, but played 18 minutes with a minor injury.

Still too many TO's but the Jackets got a good road win at EMU.  Looks like the shooting was strong & that's a great sign especially on the road.

Congrats to all the ODAC winners this weekend & hang in there everyone else.

GO JACKETS!

Stat fact. R-MC's 14 point margin of victory is precisely the combined difference between the number of three pointers and free-throws made. I.e. 4 more three pointers made = 12 points, 2 more free throws made = 2 points.

Congratulations to Brandon Adair and the 2006 National Champion Marlins for their selection to the VWC Hall of Fame. Too bad old #44 missed it by a year!
