Final Guilford 76, Roanoke 48

The Quakers over Roanoke big in Salem as the Maroon Five hit several sour notes.  Among other things, RC missed their first 17 three-point attempts.  Pittman with 19 to lead GC.

Guilford's now 15-5, 7-4 and Roanoke's 8-12, 1-10.

VWC-RMC TIED AT 29 at the half -sounds like a GREAT GAME!!VWC not shooting too well and that scares me!! They get on track and they'll blow us outa THE TANK in the 2nd half!! Hang in there JACKETS!!

RMC pulls out the win over VWC, 68-65, on the road - now six losses for the Marlins and two in the ODAC - certainly not the type of season to which they're accustomed.  Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets!

Hasa- I wasn't there but followed on computer- a very Un-Wesleyan like performance by the Marlins..... Shot poorly all game and just didn't seem in sync all the way. Dunno what's up with them but with Macedo you can bet it will be cleared up by tourney time!

Congrats to all last night's winners.

We couldn't follow the game but hear that the Jackets played very well for 2 halfs keeping Marlin shooters off balance.  Must have a been a thriller in that last minute!

Things are always exciting in the ODAC.  Good luck & safe travels to all for the weekend!

GO JACKETS!!!

rmc1982, I also watched the end on VWC's video feed.  You're right, the Marlins shot poorly.  Again, congratulations to the Jackets.  Now, if someone can also slow down the Tigers!  :)

An updated guess at what the NCAA's Regional Rankings might look like, if they were done this early in the season .... and this is through yesterday's games, with regional and overall records included.

1.  Christopher Newport  (USAC)  14-2       15-2
2.  Hampden-Sydney  (ODAC)    14-2       18-2
3.  Mary Hardin-Baylor  (ASC)   17-3        17-3
5.  Emory (UAA)                         13-4         13-4
4.  Concordia (Texas) (ASC)      13-4         15-5
6.  Birmingham Southern (SAA)  13-4       14-4
7.  Centre (SAA)                           9-3         14-3
8.  Randolph  (ODAC)                11-3          17-3

Just below these teams, and with a chance to get ranked, are Lynchburg, Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan, Hardin-Simmons, and Texas (Tyler).

Hasa- I think VWC is visiting the "friendly confines" of Fleet Gym soon... And they've never let that crazy crowd bother them too much.. This year- I'm not so sure... Not sure when the game is but I think it's soon! Should be a good one!

I hope that doesn't happen, hasa!   :)

Tigers have 2 away games coming up .... on Saturday at W&L against the Generals, a dangerous team, as was proved in their victory over the Marlins, and then on Wednesday the 6th at RMC against the Yellow Jackets, which may be the most difficult win for the Tigers to get in the rest of the regular season!

Then the Tigers are home for a game against Bridgewater, followed by their hosting of the Marlins on the 13th!

I'm actually a little more worried about playing the Yellow Jackets in Crenshaw than about playing the Marlins in Fleet the week after.

Yeah, it should be a very good game.  I think everyone in the ODAC gets up for VWC - I know Guilford does.

I understand completely, algernon.  :)

On another note, I think the Top 4 teams get a first round bye in the ODAC tournament.  Currently, there is quite a logjam in that spot in the order.  I predict there may be some tiebreakers involved to see who finishes 4th and who gets seeded lower.

Tiger Mic

I don't think I remember a player at HSC who has improved so much each year as Khobi Williamson.  He is becoming truly outstanding.

Yes.  My sense is that the game on the 13th between HSC and VWC will likely determine who is the #1 seed for the tournament, with the lose likely being the #2 seed.

The teams that are seeded #3, #4, #5, and #6 will likely be Guilford, RMC, Lynchburg, and Randolph (listed here in no particular order), and the seeding will likely be affected by tie-breakers.  Whichever teams are seeded #5 and #6 will almost certainly win their Tuesday evening play-in games on their own courts against Shenandoah and either Roanoke or Emory and Henry, and then those two teams will go on to Salem to play the #3 and #4 teams (#3 v #6 and #4 v #5).  So my sense is that Guilford, RMC, Lynchburg, and Randolph will be playing in the Quarterfinals for 2 spots in the Semifinals.
