Just read the VWC write up on last night's game with my alma mater R-MC and discovered that VWC's Tre Ford went to my other alma mater, J.E.B Stuart H.S. in Falls Church. Since he is a senior, I will only have to be conflicted about this issue for the remainder of the season.

I will NOT be conflicted about any graduate of James Wood High School who plays basketball for Randolph-Macon .... ;)

Leading all of Division III in games through Sunday, 1/27 ...

Hampden-Sydney is 2nd in Scoring Margin with a +21.0 point differential, 3rd in FG% with 51.4%, 5th in assists/game with 18.5, 10th in Won/Lost % with 89.5%, 11th in steals/game with 11.3, 15th in scoring with 83.9 PPG, and 15th in Defensive FG% with 28.9%.

Hampden-Sydney's Khobi Williamson and Harrison George are 7th and 9th in FG%, hitting 63.9% and 63.8% of their shots.

Randolph's Colton Hunt is 2nd in ppg with 26.2 ... and 13th in steals/game with 2.95.

Guilford's Josh Pittman is 8th in 3ptFG/game with 3.21.

Eastern Mennonite is 13th in steals/game with 11.2.

Virginia Wesleyan is in 17th in blocks/game with 4.9.

Randolph-Macon is 18th in Defensive FG%, allowing 38.1%, and 20th in Defensive Points, allowing 59.4.

Washington and Lee's J.D. Ey is 18th in blocks/game with 2.42.

Finally, Lynchburg's Xavier Parham is 1st in steals/game with 4.0 ... and 19th in assists/game with 5.7, but he is no longer on the Hornets ' roster and will soon fall out of the NCAA ranking, which requires participation in 75% of team games.

Thanks, hasa.  I was curious about the ranking of ODAC teams and players within DIII and thought others would be interested.

Kudos to Khobi Williamson, Harrison George, Colton Hunt, Josh Pittman, and J.D. Ey!  All of these players deserve to be among those on the ODAC's 1st/2nd All-Conference Team, given their play this season.

The other players I would consider for the 1st or 2nd team (in addition to HSC's George and Williamson, Randolph's Hunt, Guilford's Pittman, and W&L's Ey) would be Roanoke's Amponsah, EMU's Thorne, VWC's Woodmore, Astorga, and Teasley, Lynchburg's Chillemi and Hernandez, and RMC's Giggetts and Simon.  Amponsah and Woodmore should make the 1st/2nd team and all of the others should at least be on the 3rd team.

Yep. It's not really that big a conflict for me, either.

Shenandoah's first visit to Guilford as an ODAC member today.  I remember playing them home and away over two seasons 6 or 7 years ago.  Hope the Quakers have better luck with this swarm of Hornets than we did Lynchburg!  Down with the vespids!  Go Quakers!

Games for today, my picks are in bold:

RMC vs. Lynchburg

Roanoke at Bridgewater

SU at Guilford

E and H vs VWC

EMU at Randolph

My picks for today:

Randolph-Macon @ Lynchburg - 2:00 PM ... I'd call for this for Macon if the game were at Crenshaw.
Roanoke @ Bridgewater - 2:00 PM
Hampden-Sydney @ Washington and Lee - 2:00 PM ... Always dangerous to play at W&L.
Eastern Mennonite @ Randolph - 2:00 PM
Emory and Henry @ Virginia Wesleyan - 2:00 PM ... Will the Marlins win by 30?
Shenandoah @ Guilford - 2:00 PM

HSC defeats W&L 77-67.  The game was closer than the final score.  Most of the game the lead for either team was 4 or less.  Good win on the road for the Tigers.  Next, they travel to Ashland to face Macon.

rmc1982

Jackets win going away 91-77......getting better every game.....nobody wants to face us in the tourney!! ;)

Guilford defeats Shenandoah in Greensboro, 66-55.  Josh Pittman with 28 for the Quakers.

The Jackets get another strong win on the road today-- by 14.  The amazing A. Simon punishes at both ends with 23 pts and 12 DReb (13 total).  Giggetts, Sullivan & Badger do not disappoint-- all scoring in double figures.  J. Hassell off the bench also chips in for 11 pts.  Things are looking good for the Jackets as they get more game tough.

With some of the day's other results, the top tier of the ODAC is shifting around some just 2 weeks before the tourney w/3 teams now bunched at 3rd (Guilford, Randolph & R-MC).  Should be a very interesting next couple of weeks.

Congrats to all today's winners.

GO JACKETS!!!
