Khobi went 13 for 15 on Saturday against W&L, scoring 30 points, to go with 12 rebounds and two blocks.  Harrison hit 11 of his 18 shot attempts, to score 24 points with eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal.  Together, the two big men scored 54 of the Tigers' 77 points.

The Tigers will be going for their first 20-win season since 2004 on Wednesday evening in Ashland.  It will not be an easy win, for sure, but I think that the Tigers are getting better with each game and have a solid chance of pulling off another big road win, as they did at Randolph, Lynchburg, EMU, and W&L.

The Tigers and Yellow Jackets are both playing so well right now that it will not be surprising if they meet again in the ODAC Semifinals or Finals.

My South regional ranking projection (thru 3 Feb), with regional and overall records, and also SoS:

1.  Hampden-Sydney  (ODAC)      15-2        19-2     .520
2.  Mary Hardin-Baylor  (ASC)      18-3        18-3     .550
3.  Christopher Newport  (USAC)  14-3         15-3     .529
4.  Emory (UAA)                         14-4         14-4     .556
5.  Concordia (Texas) (ASC)         14-4         16-5     .547
6.  Centre (SAA)                          10-3         15-3     .512
7.  Guilford (ODAC)                      13-5         16-5     .542
8.  Virginia Wesleyan  (ODAC)       11-5         14-6     .511

The actual rankings should be released on Wednesday and will be based on games through Sunday the 3rd.

The Marlins travel a few miles to play their Hampton Roads rival in Newport News tonight, in a game that will have ranking implications for any ODAC team.  GO MARLINS!

R-MC students will be out  for J-Term break and will NOT be on campus for the H-SC game on wednesday-A break for the Tigers. Our students can be just as rowdy as those Tiger students-a shame they won't be there to cheer us on.Since they wont be there,R-MC athletic dept has placed a limited number of tickets on sale this morning at 9am-which, I suspect, will be snapped up by the large H-SC alumni base in the Greater Richmond area.Won't be as much of a home court advantage for the Jackets, but will still be in Crenshaw where our kids are most comfortable. Both teams playing really well at this point in the season-should be a great game in Ashland on wednesday!!

Another key game in the ODAC on Wednesday night is Guilford (16-5) at Randolph (17-4).  Wish I could go, but perhaps a little too far to drive on a work night.  Both teams are 8-4 in the ODAC and tied with RMC for 3rd.  Quakers won the first game in Greensboro, but Randolph's always tough for us in their "gym."  Go Quakers!

Hasa-even BIGGER game tonite at the Freeman Center at CNU with VWC taking on the Captains for Hampton Roads bragging rights......I'm not a big betting man but if I were I'd bet the farm on Coach Macedo and the Fish!! CNU only beat us by 2 early in the season in Newport News when we werent very good and The Fish are WAY DUE for a breakout game!! NEVER count those fellas out!! I COULD BE WRONG BUT way TOO MAY HORSES for CNU to handle-plus the Captains play a mediocre schedule at best.....I may eat my hat in a few hours but I say FISH by 10 at least!!If I wasnt layed up by this knee replacement Id be there!! GO FISH!!

It was CNU 77/R-MC 70. I wouldn't put money on this game. It's close now as I post this.

CNU lost to Greensboro last Saturday and they're a .500 team ... I know Guilford beat the Pride handily 2 months ago.  I think CNU would take their lumps in a tougher league.

You were right and I was wrong. The game was close early and then VWC pulled away in the 1st half, so I tried to back off my first post, not realizing it was still there. +1 for you.

Way to go, Marlins!  79-66 is a nice margin, and the win will help VWC in the battle for a Pool C, should they fail to win the conference tournament.  It will probably help all ODAC teams to some extent in the regional rankings.

Hampden-Sydney rises in the rankings, after victories against Lynchburg and W&L this past week, to #17.  Guilford is also getting a few votes, putting them at #36.

Honestly, with six losses, I think VWC will have to win the ODAC tournament to get in.  Other opinions?

I think in order for them to get in VWC would either have to win the ODAC tournament or win all the games leading up to the tournament and win all the games in the ODAC tournament except the championship if they were to face HSC

Will VWC make it to the big dance? The short answer is probably not this year. Hate to say that though. The long answer is:
They are 10 and 2 in the ODAC right now and 15 and 6 overall. There's an 80% probability that they will beat EMU; a 50% probability that they will beat Guilford(it's at Guilford and the Marlins hate playing there); a 40% probability that they will beat HSC(HSC is just too good this year); and an 80% chance they'll beat Lynchburg. I give them a 45% chance in the ODAC tournament.

The NCAA selection process is so unpredictable that if VWC wins out in the regular season and wins a game in the tournament, anything can happen. Another loss in the regular season coupled with not winning the conference tournament is probably the final nail in the coffin.

BTW, are all teams in the tournament this year? If not, how many?
