Well, here we are on the eve of ODAC Tournament. Randoph's Clay Nunnaly and Colton Hunt COY and POY. George and Williamson on first team. I don't know how this snub of George for POY will effect him and team mates but I'm sure Algernon will rise up amongst the fans.

Macon has tough quarter final game against an 18-8 Guilford squad that can light up the threes. Winner of that game has the luxury of going up against the most talented team in ODAC, HSC who is already looking to host a first round game in NCAA.

Where will the upsets come, if any? Or will the top 2 seeds run the table for a heated rematch?

Weather might be pretty dicey tomorrow morning and afternoon so please all drive safely.
Wouldn't really call Colton Hunt winning it over him a snub (the first ODAC men's basketball player with over 1,800 points, 600 rebounds, 200 steals, and 200 assists) but to each his own. Anyway heres the whole teams

All-ODAC First Team
Chris Astorga-Virginia Wesleyan
Harrison George-Hampden-Sydney
Colton Hunt-Randolph
Josh Pittman-Guilford
Khobi Williamson-Hampden-Sydney

ODAC Rookie of the Year: Andrew Franz, Fr., Forward, Washington and Lee

Although I don't quite agree with all the selections, I think that they're on target, for the most part, and congratulate all the honorees!!

I have a question.  Hopefully someone knows what may happen.  IF and there are a lot of IF's in this scenario, the Marlins win the ODAC tournament would they likely get the hosting duties over the Tigers?  Not sure exactly how the NCAA  determines who the host schools will be.  I am thinking WAYYY too far ahead but just curious.  Also if RMC or any team other than the Tigers or Marlins win the ODAC crown, would they be apt to host?    Okay now the congratulations to ALL the players honored tonight.  I agree with the choices made.  Well done and well deserved!

If the marlins win the ODAC tourney they would host before HSC.. now there could be a chance that they both were on the road but with vwc being #1 in the region rankings they would host over hsc... no other team would host besides vwc or hsc.. There is a chance that both teams could host because of this years tournament format.. There will be only 2 teams at each site instead of 4 so i believe if we get a rematch between vwc and hsc in the odac finals that both teams will host first round games!

These two teams will be among the top quartile when the bracket is set up, in terms of their ranking by the NCAA.   Both teams will host first round games on March 2.  I think that's a given, whether or not they win a single ODAC tournament game.

Both teams have a good shot at hosting a second game on March the 9th, if they get as far as the ODAC final.

If either is the ODAC Champ, that team will possibly even host a third game on 3/16 ...  assuming the team has won the first two!   ;)   Past the first game, I think hosting will be dependent on who's winning, whether there are upsets.

I don't think any other ODAC team will host, but they'll be happy just to have won the ODAC Championship and be playing in the NCAAs, even if on the road.

Congrats to all the conference honors winners-- a very talented group for sure!

Wishing safe travels and good luck to all in Salem this weekend.

I'm shocked that J.D. Ey didn't make 1st team All-ODAC.

Granted 30th in ppg is not so great. 1 in rebounds, 1 in blocks, 15 in fg%,10 in steals,7 in assists, 5 in TO ratio. Look at the ODAC rankings & he's ranked in 9 categories. The other 4/5's on the 1st team are ranked in 7,6 & 4. It ain't right.
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Remember the bracket is different this year -- 30 teams will host first-round games and I'd have to think that both VWC and HSC deserve to do so.

Congratulations to the Marlins on their win today and also to EMU for a fine, tough game. Some outstanding efforts by many players ( ie. Teasley, Thorne) on both teams. I do hope DJ Woomore's injury is not a serious one. This would be a poor time to lose an excellent starter. I also want to acknowledge what I believe was the broadcast team from EMU for a well called, informative, intelligent and unbiased play by play of the game today. It was a pleasure to listen to. Give yourselves a pat on the back. I also want to thank those who answered my question about hosting in the NCAA's. I like the format this year...seems more fair to more teams. So many schools never get to host at all for varied reasons, especially in DIII. Good luck to the rest of the teams today!

Think you may have a fair point on JD Ey.  Whichever All-ODAC team he belongs on this year, he looks like the ultimate fundamental team guy for a career.  W&L site says he is the only player in school history with more than 1000 points, 800 rebounds, 200 assists, 150 blocks and 100 steals. (1023 points, 839 rebounds, 243 assists, 167 blocks and 141 steals)  Colton had 3 of those, but not all 5.  Maybe Algernon knows how many ODAC players have put together that list for a career?  Maybe more than we think?

I think JD suffered from being on a mediocre team for 4 years. A great player for W&L, just not quite enough around him to ever push W&L up the food chain. I think the Generals finished 8th or 9th in the conference all 4 of his years. Still, he'll come out with a great education. So first / second / third team... I'm sure it matters, but not too much in the grand scheme. At some point I've got to believe he will be back for his induction into the General's Hall of Fame.

H-SC started slow but the last minute of the first half made the difference.  Roa never was in the game again.  What a turnaround for RMC - down 15 at about the 13-14 minutes left in the game and then take the lead with about a minute to go in the game.  At that point it was 50-35. and Guilford ended with 56 points so only 6 points is that much time with RMC scoring 22. Shows to never change your plan!

Unfortunately for GC, they had more shot clock violations after getting to 50 points than they did field goals the remainder of the game.  The end of the GC-RMC game was hard to watch.  I know how I would have felt if that had been HSC.  Quakers just couldn't get back on track and let the game slip away.

GC always plays us tough so the end was really exciting for our side to watch.  Kudos to a young Jackets team for gutting out the win after being so far down.

When was the last time the top 4 seeds were in the semi's?

Congrats to all who won yesterday & good luck to all for today.
