Randolph's in the tournament !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They deserve it, but no one expected this at all.

The ODAC will have 4 teams in the tournament, for the first time since 2010, when EMU, Guilford, RMC and VWC went.

Stevens hosts Randolph-Macon.

Hampden-Sydney hosts Cabrini .... and then either hosts St. Vincent, or host/travels-to Ohio Wesleyan.

RMC1982,
It was 1999 when HSC hosted RMC in the tourney.  In 2003, the sectional was at RMC and HSC advanced to Salem from RMC.  The NCAA aloes the number of tickets for each team's athletic office to sale for tourney games.  Any tickets not sold are then placed on general sale by the host institution I think.  That is the same reason that there were not many HSC fans at RMC for the Sweet Sixteen game against Illinois Wesleyan in 2003.  On Saturday night, however, after Macon lost on Friday, plenty of tickets were available for HSC fans to the Elite Eight Game against UW-Oshkosh (I think that's the right team).

Really shocked but glad that Randolph made it in!

Don't remind me of that sectional in Crenshaw!! Illinois Wesleyan beat us and then you guys whipped them-was pulling for you then-sold my tix to one of my H-SC buddies!! I just couldn't remember when that playoff game at H-SC was-thought it was around the turn of the century.....I am also surprised but VERY HAPPY for those Randolph guys-Good program-good coach, and I'm happy for them!! Good chance for you guys and VWC to advance.....us, well, we'll justhave to see!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

Stevens hosts Macon but at a neutral site since no NCAA tourney games can be played in the state of NJ due to legalized gambling.  I wonder when the neutral site will be announced.  I assume the committee had some place in mind that was within 500 miles of both schools, but closer to Stevens.

My memory was that RMC visited HSC in the NCAA tournament in 1998, but I hadn't checked it out and I assume you're right.

I want to thank the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh for selling me a ticket to the Friday evening game at Crenshaw!  I had to make a special effort to get a ticket for that game.

It was great to watch the Yellow Jackets get beat by Oshkosh ( .. thanks again, Oshkosh .. ) and then see Hampden-Sydney beat Illinois Wesleyan on Friday night, and then we really enjoyed cutting down the nets in Crenshaw the following after our close win over Oshkosh.

Congrats to all 4 ODAC teams.  I was surprised to see Randolph selected, but that's awesome.

Go Tigers!

Also, any idea what time the game will take place for HSC on Saturday?

http://www.d3hoops.com/playoffs/men/2013/bracket-released indicates that Stevens, which is in Hoboken, will host at Lehman College in the Bronx.

Actually, I think that Randolph-Macon has a good chance to get the win in this game.  They've already beaten Virginia Wesleyan twice and Hampden-Sydney once.  With a win, it looks like the Yellow Jackets would either travel to Worcester Polytechnic Institute or host SUNY-Purchase.  If they won another, they'd likely travel to Amherst on March 16.  With some nice ODAC luck, they could face Hampden-Sydney on March 22 in Salem.

I don't know if they visited in 1998 or not, but in 1999 HSC had a 1st round bye then hosted Macon, Wooster and John Carroll.  They then played Connecticut College who was 29-0 in Salem and then lost in 2OT to Platteville by 1. 1999 was the year that HSC beat the Matt Meehan led Jackets 4 times.  http://www.d3hoops.com/archives/men/1999

The game will be 7:00 or 7:30pm.  It will be announced either today or tomorrow.

Yes, the year before, in 1998, Randolph-Macon was beaten by Trinity (TX) in the 1st round, while HSC had a bye.  Had the Yellow Jackets won that first game, they would have played the second round at HSC.

HSC beat Trinity and then traveled to John Carroll or Hope for the sectional, where they lost in the Sweet Sixteen to John Carroll.

The NCAA has been good at putting ODAC teams in different parts of the bracket over the past 10 years.

This year, although it is extremely unlikely, it is theoretically possible that ALL FOUR of the ODAC teams could make it to Salem and play in the Elite Eight round of the tournament.  At that point, Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon would face each other, reducing to THREE the number of ODAC teams that could theoretically face each other in the FINAL FOUR.  At that point, Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph would face each other, and then it is theoretically possible that VWC/Randolph could face HSC/RMC for the national championship in Atlanta ....

Just sayin' ....  ;)

NJ would like to have legalized sports betting. They said no to it a few years back and a federal window closed. Now they're trying to pry the window open again. If (& that's a big if) they do get it, then no wagers on in-state contests.

The NCAA is full of it. Punishing innocent Stevens (& for that matter RM - Hoboken is nicer than the Bronx) for NJ wishing to do something is nonsense. Dear readers think of all the stuff you ever wished for; could you imangine being punished for some of your dubious dreams? :o

Here's a 4 day old article on how it is effecting Montclair State's ladies hoop team:
