Amherst must be a beast this year. They have badly beaten several really good teams in the playoffs. We'll see if MHB can do anything with them. Two weeks between games might help their cause.

For those of you that have had an opportunity to see both teams that are playing for the National title, which one should win ?

Tigerfan, I might actually say that the two week break could hurt the Cru. Because they seemed to really sneak up on St. Thomas in the final 4 semi game. Although I'm hoping they use the time to figure something out. I think they might have a good shot to stop The Lord Jeff's from shooting so well much like the St. Thomas game. But I don't know if Kitrick Bell can have the same rebounding game as he had against the Tommie's due to Amhersts size. If I had to pick a winner I would go with Amherst. But ill be rooting for the Cru. FINISH THE RUN!!

Yes I did Pat. Was I missing something?

Nope, only that I think you were asking for a scouting report on Amherst on the NESCAC board last week, so I thought you'd be keenly interested.

Oh. Haha. Thank you Mr. Coleman. I appreciate that. I was very interested and strongly suggest to anyone attending or watching the game on TV to read the scouting report(s) as well. It was very well put together and am excited to see the report on the Crusaders. Obviously I know plenty about my hometown squad but I can't get enough of the coverage leading up to the game!

Also, when you get a chance I would be VERY interested to hear your opinion on this years Championship being held in conjunction with the other divisions championships, and how you think that will affect the attendance of the Division 3 game. Dave McHugh said possibly as many as 10,000?! Just a guess I'm sure. Many other posters aren't expecting many at all compared to the usual game. 10,000 would be awesome. Heck, 4,000 would be great. Any opinions or guesses? Is there any way to even speculate with any accuracy? Lol

I doubt it.  This is totally unknown territory.  One could speculate that it will be so totally overshadowed by the d1 FF (and Salem regulars will find accommodations next to impossible) that attendance will be well below normal .  One could also speculate that there will be thousands of rabid basketball fans being offered free admission when nothing d1 is going on so attendance will set new records.  Both scenarios seem plausible; which is accurate - who the hell knows? ;)

(I lean towards the low attendance side - there are undoubtedly many Salem locals who have adopted the tourney and attend regardless of teams; Atlanta locals will have so such leanings.)

CruFrenzy

You're probably right. We really can't know. Guess we'll just wait and see!

First time poster (long time reader here). I am going with MHB. Was very impressed with Amherst, but I like the grittiness that Baylor displayed. When they were only down a possession or two going into the 2nd half Saturday, we thought they would pull out victory. Regardless of who wins, it should be a fantastic game. Have to make sure to set the DVR.

We were first timers in Salem this year. An enjoyable experience. We didn't know much about the teams, but since oldest son will be a Maroon next season, wanted to experience it.

Looking forward to an enjoyable four years and some quality basketball in the ODAC. Exciting times.

Congrats on your Son and I wish him the best. Did he consider any other ODAC schools ? Enjoy the next four years as they go very fast. My oldest plays football @ HSC; seems like just yesterday that he left and he is already finishing up his soph. year. So take it from m e, enjoy each and every game that you can attend and/or watch on the computer. Again, good luck to him and his Maroons. You will see plenty quality basketball in the ODAC.

What he said.  :)

Yes, we are very much looking forward to it.

In all honesty, when we went through his look at schools this past summer, he really liked the atmosphere, and academics at Roanoke. Washington and Lee was the other ODAC school he was interested in. My family is originally from western part of VA (Waynesboro/Afton area of VA), and it is within 4-4.5 hours from our current home so I think it lined up for him. Once he started studying up on the level of play in the ODAC, he was pretty much sold on Roanoke.

Amazed how far things have come with being able to watch these games over the internet. He watched  much of the last half of season of Roanoke to see other teams as well as how he could fit in. A definite advantage. We were intending to come down to ODAC tournament, but his team made a run in districts/states and that took precedence (they won silver medals in district, so commitment definitely paid off).

Years definitely fly by, so hopefully we won't take this time for granted. Seems like just yesterday he was starting HS.
