Good luck at NCW. Is the ODAC doing very well with in it's OOC schedule ? I'm not keeping up but it seems GC and VWC are the only two winning on a regular basis.
Thanks, tfa.  Not sure of the latest data, but the ODAC has been in the Top 3 this season of all DIII conferences in winning percentage versus OOC ... in the .710-.712 range.

Here is the latest update through games of 12/14/13.

D3 vs non conference d3

1 NESCAC   55-22  0.714
2 ODAC        36-16  0.692
3 Newmac   47-21  0.691
4 CCIW         40-18  0.690
5 UAA           41-19  0.683
6 WIAC         29-14  0.674
7 MACC       25-13  0.658
8 OAC           25-15  0.625
9 MIAC         27-17  0.614
10 SAA         27-18  0.600

Quakers with another overtime victory, this time 84-78 on the road at NC Wesleyan.  Freshman Alston Furr hit 6/7 threes on his way to 22 points and sophomore Zeb Richardson added 15.  Josh Morrison put up 35 for the Bishops, but it wasn't enough.  GC moves to 9-0 and NCWC falls to 4-5.

Go Quakers!

Wow, VWC lost again, this time 95-87 at Mary Washington in double OT.  Shooting percentages looked abysmal across the board for the Marlins, including 12/22 on FTs.

Congrats on your win last night. You can rest assured VWC will be ready for ODAC play. They have lost two games to really good teams and their young guys are getting great exposure to d3 b'ball. Watch out for them and RMC, and hopefully HSC. ODAC should really heat up next month. Keep the OOC wins coming in the mean time.

Yep, a lot of new faces getting big minutes for VWC and pretty bad FT shooting over the past couple of games, but that's what December is for! Get the kinks ironed out against tough teams because no one will be feeling sorry for these guys come ODAC play!

Thanks, tfa.  Trust me, no one in the ODAC will overlook the Marlins.  They're always athletic, always talented and always well-coached ... and, in the end, always a formidable foe!

The Jackets lost a fairly close road game at Cabrini.  On a happy note, Junior Chris Hamilton shot lights out off the bench & Marcus Badger got his shooting groove back.  Plenty of talent in the program this year; just got to keep working hard to produce the desired results.

Happy Holidaze to all!

GO JACKETS!!!

Were you at the game or did you watch it? I only caught the last few minutes. Looked to me like Cabrini plays an excellent zone defense and they trap out of it well. Hamilton's shooting against the zone had to be a huge factor in making the first half tight. And overall the team must have solved the zone pretty well to score so many points against it. I thought the Jackets were in a good spot up by 2 with just under two minutes to go and got a turnover and a chance to extend the lead but turned it right back over in what looked like just a bad passing decision, though it's always hard to tell watching online. From there it just seemed to come unraveled for the Jackets then they were forced to foul. Cabrini's Aaron Walton-Moss is a heck of a player and probably underrated at 3rd team pre-season All-American. I was disappointed, though, that when he got a steal or loose ball with six seconds left and a 7 point lead that he chose to go in for a layup instead of holdup and either get fouled or let the clock run. Then with only 2 seconds left and a 9 point lead Cabrini attempts to steal the inbounds pass. Not the most sportsmanlike finish to the game.

I'm more than a little worried that Guilford's next three games are against teams with excellent records to date:  Dickinson 8-1, Birmingham-Southern 6-1 and Messiah 8-0.  None of these teams is currently ranked, but the DC Red Devils are getting some votes.  Are their conferences/OOC opponents considered a little less competitive so far this season?

I watched the entire game online and Cabrini played man for the majority of the game.  Overall their defense was not very good at all.  They stepped it up in the last couple minutes and RMC just made some bad plays down the stretch to give it away.  RMC had 6 turnovers in the last 2.5 minutes I believe.  Cabrini was very slow on rotations for much of the first half so shooters had a good 3-5 feet of space to get a shot off but Hamilton was the only one hitting consistently.  They also missed a lot of easy ones at the rim in the first half and should have had a 6-8 pt lead going into halftime.  But, as you mentioned Walton-Moss is an elite player and there's no way a single man can guard him with his quickness.

Thanks for that info. Didn't know they had played man most of the game. They were definitely playing zone by the time I tuned in with about 4 minutes to go. Maybe they switched to zone given how you describe their poor man defense.

Jk

Heard on the news this morning the W&L president makes $900,000 + per year, 62nd highest in the country for all colleges/universities. Reduce his compensation package by half, invest the difference into the b'ball program and you'll have a winning program !!!!!

$922,542 as of 2011 total compensation package ... $390,553 base pay ... actually 52nd among private colleges.

AHA - my conference still has you guys by .009 points! ;D

(Of course, we were 2nd a few days ago. :P  With such small data sets and close rankings - things can change awfully quickly!  We still have 7 of 8 with winning records, but North Park is looking even much worse than expected.)
