Well, the Marlins were HOT and Woodmore is a fabulous player!  Aaron Clark was hitting everything!

Final score, with a 6-point margin, was the result of late-game fouling, and the game was totally in play until the inbounds steal by the Marlins with about 17 seconds left.  Could have gone either way, and the Tigers played a great game, but the Marlins were on fire, hitting 48% of their 3-pointers.

Great game.  Both teams are certainly Top 25 quality!

103-80 RMC over SU.

RMC is probably the best team I've seen come to Winchester in a very long time!

51 to 38 at the 1/2 ... SU got it to nine but couldn't get it any closer in 2nd half.

RMC shot the lights out from 3pt land (7 of 11 in 1st half) ... their quickness and length created problems all night long.

Rebounds 40 to 24 and 2nd chance points ... 21 to 4.

SU effort was there ... just ran into a tremendous team tonight!

Too bad Hampden-Sydney wasn't ranked. Would have loved for this win to "validate" VWC being #18

Yet like last year....hsc loses deciding ODAC Championship game at home to VW..then goes on to lose to RMC in semifinals ODAC tourney. And yet still host  an NCAA first round game against Cabrini and drop that game at fleet gymnasium....and now lose at home to a very young Virginia Wes? Pool C?

There were 30 first round games hosted at 30 sites, only 36 teams applied to host if I remember correctly. So the chances for any team - not just H-SC - to not host were pretty slim last year if they applied.

After looking at the box score of the game I have a question. Why does Dee Vick play Mike Murray only 24 minutes in a big game like tonight's? He can shoot lights out from everywhere on the court.  Actually most of his best players don't get more than 25 minutes.  I understand he has depth on the team but always believed you go with your best as long as you can.  The Marlins are still trying to figure out their lineup so no one besides Woodmore usually gets more than 25-30 minutes, as opposed to last year when 4 out of 5 of our starters played about 35 minutes each.   Reddick and Lewis seem to deserve more time too.  Lucky for the Marlins tonight they didn't get it.  Wait, I shouldn't be giving Dee Vick advice, he might take me up on it and kill us next time we play..lol

Nevermind..I think I figured it out.

VWC loss on the road at bridgewater...  Tough one for the Marlins tonight at HSC where if im not mistaken the Marlins have won four out of the last 5 so look for the Tigers to try and stop that trend. I think the key to tonights matchup is which colby/khobi wins the battle down low. Think Murray will have 10-15 for the tigers and woodmore 15-20 for the marlins so i believe whichever big man is able to establish himself and stay out of foul trouble will lead his team to victory
Thanks for the correction on BC/VWC game venue ... my mistake.  +1

GC all over the Wasps, 81-59, behind 11 of 22 three-point shooting ... it was actually 73-39 at one point before the bench finished it out for the Quakes with about 7 minutes to go.  Matt McCarthy 20 and Trever Hyatt 16 led Guilford.  GC's at 11-3, 5-0 while E&H dropped its 12th straight and fell to 2-12, 0-5.  First 5-0 ODAC start in school history for the Quakers.  Next game at VWC on Saturday is huge!

Lynchburg beat Noke 82-73, Noke was up the entire game until the 6 minute mark.  Roanoke's defense is pretty horrible, but Lynchburg played pretty good.  Were 0-5 in the conference  :'( :'(

Maroons07

Got to see RC play a couple of weeks ago.  They are much improved.  They will get there.

Watched some of the H-SC - VWC game last night. Both teams have a lot of talent.

For all the talent H-SC has had the past few years, I cant seem to recall any really big wins, especially at home.  They have not made an ODAC final and sometime and lost on their home court to Cabrini.

Its frustrating, this is the second time (first W and L) we've been up on a ODAC opponent almost the entire game and then give it away in the end.  This is the third time we've lost a game in the last 3 minutes (W and L, EMU,LC) we can't get stops when we need them.

Your recall seems somewhat limited.  HSC was 2-0 last year against ODAC champ Randolph-Macon, winning at home by 10 and on the road by 19, and they also got a win on the road against NCAA tournament participant Wesley. The loss to Cabrini was to a team that finished the year ranked #13 in the country.

This year, they've beaten #20 Mary Washington at home.

Also won 79-63 at Randolph last year, and they made the NCAA Tournament.
In 2011-12, beat Randolph-Macon 79-71 at HSC and they went to the NCAA Tournament.
And the 2011 squad beat Virginia Wesleyan at HSC, who went to the Sweet 16 that year it looks like.
