^ This is all very interesting & thanks for the research.  Just a few years ago, Randolph College was selling the art off the walls & has rebounded well.

We're surely hoping all the ODAC schools got the 2013 market bump on investments that's not reflected in these 2012 stats.

At the game v. VWC we were impressed with the Jackets on both ends.  Hoping they can keep this level.

Wishing good luck & safe travels to all this weekend.

GO JACKETS!!!

D-BAT and I both have some errors in our lists. I had Hollins written down but left them out of my post. As far as I know Ferrum and Mary Baldwin don't compete in the ODAC and Guilford is missing. I got my list from the icons of the school mascots on the ODAC website. Not all that important that this be perfect, though. And while R-MC might not be the richest school in the conference, it seems there should be sufficient resources to stream games live without charging -- which is how this whole thing got started.

  118,586,000 ... Randolph-Macon College
  113,871,000 ... Roanoke College
   84,725,000 ... Sweet Briar College
   79,931,000 ... Emory & Henry College

   65,932,000 ... Guilford College
   62,823,000 ... Bridgewater College

   48,640,037 ... Virginia Wesleyan College
   20,828,000 ... Eastern Mennonite University

OK, Then if VWC is the poorest school in the ODAC and they can have live streaming, then there is no excuse for Randolph-Macon not to offer it free for it's fans.  I rest my case.  Good luck to all the schools in the ODAC this weekend.

Looking into the charge for watching R-MC games -- the college does it through College TV Ticket which appears to set the price of a single game ($7.99), a monthly subscription ($11.99), a 3 month subscription ($29.99), or an annual subscription ($64.99) and gives 30% of the subscriptions to the subscriber's chosen school. It doesn't say if the school gets any portion of a single game pass. With a subscription it appears you can watch anything College TV Ticket broadcasts but your school of choice would still get the entire 30% of your subscription. This puts a different spin on it. Nevertheless, I still don't understand why R-MC can't use a different service -- Stretch Internet comes to mind -- and stream games for free.

My guess is because at the time they signed on, the free offerings were poor or in their infancy with little resume, and now they are stuck in their contract with College TV Ticket. I assume when it comes time to renew, they will carefully analyze if College TV Ticket is the best solution for the athletic department. But if they are only making 30%, my guess is that they'll go elsewhere.

Alas, don't be surprised over the next 10 years when pay per view becomes much more common. I've heard that the PPV format is quite common up north, and with fans wanting more and more all the time out of broadcasts, the money to finance it is going to have to come from somewhere.

^^ If you are right about the contract I hope R-MC will consider a free option when the contract ends. As for the long term future -- 10 years out -- I hope you are wrong. Lots of schools out here in the Midwest stream their games free. I'm watching Roanoke's free live streaming of their women's game vs R-MC right now.

Randolph with the upset over HSC 76-73, what Coach Nunley does with the resources he has and the players he has is AMAZING.

Roanoke gets slaughtered by, I mean tips off with RMC at 3:30

VWC beats W and L 85-54

Jackets win 70-57 in a game that was very much closer than that!! Could've gone either way......Jackets lucky to get out of Roanoke with a win.....but we'll take it!!

I don't think the game was that close 82. I think we just expect them to be on top of game sometimes way to much. However they better be  on Wednesday!

^ yes the game was basically tied with 3 minutes to go.... unbelievable how the late baskets dropped for R-MC and then Roanoke allowed us to run the score up by fouling our top free throw shooter Sullivan twice in the closing minutes.  It would have been a "8-9 or fewer" points differential (might be off by a little on this after a couple of beers) without those particular very late intentional fouls.

Must say a big "thank you" to Roanoke College for 2 free video feeds today for Jackets fans, with announcers who did a superb job in both games.  Seems like both of our teams there today played in a great environment & those of us at home appreciate the stellar job you did to connect us to the games.

GO JACKETS!!!

Must be tough to play a road game against a presumably weaker opponent after what had to be a tough game both mentally and physically against VWC last Wednesday, then having to play at H-SC this coming Wednesday. I know teams are supposed to focus on one game at a time, but I have to wonder how easy that really is. Plus, Roanoke is not a bad team, in spite of what their conference record says.

Final Guilford 77 EMU 63 in Harrisonburg

Guilford shot well on the road - EMU did not.  Quakers were 10 for 10 on FT's while Royals were 13 of 22.  Meanwhile, EMU was only 4 of 25 from three.  Ouch!  Quakers hit 5 of 11 and generally played better ball.

Guilford remains tied with the Jackets for first in the ODAC at 7-1 (13-4).
