They don't need 12 in a row.  They need enough wins for a decent ODAC touney seeding to try to win 3 or 4 in a row at the end of the season!  Going on a win streak certainly helps the confidence though.  Right now it should all be about focusing on the next game.

Barring some kind of miracle, they won't win 12 in a row. Even if they win 11 in a row and lose the ODAC Championship game, finishing 20-8, they'll be on the bubble for a tournament bid.

If the season ended today, they'd be tied for 5th with three other teams and would be seeded 8th for the tournament.  The Tigers just need to win 6-7 of their last 8 regular season games, go into the tournament as the 4th or 5th seed and then play an excellent tournament, as they did in 2007.  This is doable.  They'd finish about 19-9 or 20-8, with the tourney championship, similar to what Macon did last year, and hopefully they'd go on the road in the NCAAs to somewhere other than Cabrini!  ;)

You are absolutely right Algernon, it's doable.  The Marlins did it in 2008-09 when they were rebuilding and their record was 13-12 going into the ODAC tournament.  I believe they were ranked 7th and ended up winning the tourney and getting an automatic bid to the dance. Marlins ended up 17-13. Not going to be easy but it can be done.  I will be watching the game tonight between HSC/RMC cause it's free (lol) and the Marlins game is postponed until tomorrow due to lots of snow in Virginia Beach.  Good luck tonight to all the teams!  The Tigers had better play their best ball if they want to defeat a VERY good RMC team.

^ What crazy snow pictures we've seen from VA Beach.  Hope you guys dig out & get back on the court soon.  Hoping for safe travels for all the road teams tonight.

GO JACKETS!!!!

The Jackets take out the Tigers at home 69-60.  R-MC pretty much controlled the game leading by 10 at the half, although the Tigers threatened late as they always do.  The Jackets didn't get rattled with the late game FT's and shot 73% overall.

Congrats to the other ODAC winners tonight & thank you to Marty and Andrew for calling a great game on the road tonight.

GO JACKETS!!!

That would be a great result & maybe the Tigers will get to take 2-3 trips to Mass & NY this time.  Cabrini's tough no doubt, but at least they're not more than 8 hours away by bus.

It would be worth traveling 8 hours to avoid facing Aaron Walton-Moss, that guy is on another level. He may have just dropped the most absurd stat line in college basketball this year 20 points, 22 rebounds, 13 assists tonight.

Well put, hscathletics.  Walton-Moss had 40 points and 10 rebounds when he played Macon this year.

Not sure what you mean by winning the game inside, since the Tigers out rebounded the Jackets.  Must be something else.

From the FT line, the teams were virtually equivalent in hitting their FT shots.  The Yellow Jackets had a whole lot more opportunities from the line ... that's for sure!

Congratulations on the win.  Hopefully, we'll beat you in Crenshaw in 3 weeks!

I watched as much as I could of the R-MC/H-SC game last night. The feed would stop on occasion so I eventually moved over to the R-MC audio in the 2nd half. What I observed from the video (almost all of the first half and parts of the second half) was a great college basketball game in a great environment and absent any of the problems that surfaced when H-SC played Williams. Also two great sets of announcers that were objective and fun to listen to. It was D3 hoops at its best.

They beat us up on the boards......They made it tough on us Bigs....." You may have out rebounded us, but 2nd chance points and free throws down the stretch beat you, plain and simple

I am posting with this name for the first time.  Lost all data in the big computer crash of '13.  I worked as the Sports Information Director for EMC/U back in the early-mid 90s.  Glad to see Coach Dean (and Coach Griffin) moving the Royals programs forward.  I see not many people are posting about the Royals so I will put in the link from last night.  http://www.emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2013-14/releases/20140129hov7vw Looks like they are on a mini-roll.  Hard to follow from Southcentral PA, but I try.

All of that is true but the real reason for the Macon win stems from the fact HSC was rarely able to get a key stop or hit a key shot; Macon was always able to answer whenever HSC cut into the lead via second chance opportunities and foul shots, all signs of a good team. Macon was also effective in taking the crowd out the game. Very quite atmosphere for a HSC vs RMC game. Hoping for a better result in Ashland.

Welcome back, EMUOldTimer.  Good to see the Royals represented!  Not too many supporters since the Elite Eight run in 2010. +1

Final Guilford 60, Randolph 58 at Guilford

I attended last night's GC/RaC game and it was a tense, tight game throughout.  I don't remember either team leading by more than six and I believe there were three ties and know there were multiple lead changes.

Guilford was miserable from three-point range (5/23), trailed at the half (23-26) and only had six free-throws (3/6), but managed to pull it out.  I say managed because the Wildcats stole the inbounds pass with 11 seconds to go and the Quakers nursing a 60-58 lead.  I had visions of a Randolph three at the buzzer to win.  I can see why Randolph leads the ODAC in defense (59.2 coming in), so last night's 60 will only up it a fraction.  I'm really glad the Quakers do not have a return match in Lynchburg.  I hate that gym - it's about as much fun as watching a game being played in the bottom of a swimming pool.  Just my opinion, but it's woefully inadequate for the ODAC.  Someone commented about Randolph pulling all their men to the defensive end on Wildcat FTs - they did it again last night in the middle of the game.

It was not a good night for the ODAC refereeing trio of Anders, Spainhour and Trent - inexplicably subpar from the perspective of both teams.  I'm sure Palombo, Nunley and the fans could enumerate multiple examples of key mistakes at crucial junctures.  Very odd indeed.

On to Crenshaw on Saturday - getting nervous already!  Go Quakers!
