I agree with Brian Hamilton that Hilary Scott will get coach of the year. RMC was the preseason favorite and wasexpected to be this good. LC has completely turned their program around. POY is really up in the air but i believe will go to andre simon or DJ Woodmore. maybe im biased but i believe freshmen of the year will definitely go to Khory Moore. The kid has will be an all odac performer the next 3 years.
My predictions

COY: Hillary Scott LC or Clay Nunley RC
POY: DJ Woodmore VWC
FOY: Zack Burnett LC

6)  Randolph / HSC - Randolph will get the #6 seed unless, this Saturday, they lose their home contest to Shenandoah, Bridgewater loses at Lynchburg, and HSC wins at Roanoke.  That is the only set of outcomes that would give HSC the #6 seed.  Randolph (or HSC) will host #11 Washington and Lee on Tuesday the 25th.

8)  HSC / Bridgewater - HSC will be the the #8 seed unless they win at Roanoke and Bridgewater loses at Roanoke.  That particular set of outcomes would make Bridgewater #8 seed.  The #8 seed will host #9 Roanoke on Tuesday the 25th.

To clarify more, if only H-SC and Randolph were to finish tied, H-SC would win the tiebreaker with the 5-point system. If BC, Randolph, and H-SC were to finish tied, Randolph would be the #6 for going 2-1 vs. H-SC and BC, BC would be the #7 for beating H-SC.

And Bridgewater plays at Lynchburg, not at Roanoke.

I've corrected the original post because, obviously, Bridgewater will not be at Roanoke on Saturday, given that HSC will be.

Yes, if BC, Randolph, and H-SC finish tied, each with an 8-8 record, Randolph will be #6 for going 2-1 vs. H-SC and BC, BC will be #7 for going 1-1 against the other two, and HSC will be #8 for going 1-2 against the other two.

So HSC plays RC first round of tourney regardless of Saturday results ?

With all due respect, Coach Nunley was COY in 2011 and 2013.  His program is hoping to finish as high as the 6th seed for this conf. tourney.  We don't see him earning his 3rd COY this year, but we don't vote.  And, he's no doubt a great coach!

In contrast, Coach Davis has never been named COY despite his first 4 seasons each ending in NCAA appearances, one a Final 4; and, likely his 5th NCAA appearance (in a row) is on the immediate horizon.  Should he have a 20 win regular season ODAC title heading to Salem next week, we think he's a really strong contender.  Yes, he inherited a stellar program but the current team is entirely of his recruitment & development.  Whoever said he doesn't care about this honor is probably right-- but we do care & we hope he gets it.  (Taking nothing away from Lynchburg's coach's also very strong bid for the honor.)

We like Simon as POY and Burnett as ROY.

Good luck to all for the last regular season games & next week/weekend.

GO JACKETS!!!

7)  Randolph / HSC / Bridgewater - A Bridgewater win at Lynchburg would give them the #7 seed.  Even if the Eagles lose at Lynchburg, they'll still get the #7 seed unless HSC wins at Roanoke.  In that case, HSC would be the #7 seed if Randolph defeats Shenandoah, or Randolph would drop to the #7 seed if they lose to Shenandoah.  The #7 seed will host #10 Shenandoah on Tuesday the 25th.

8)  HSC / Bridgewater - HSC will be the the #8 seed unless they win at Roanoke and Bridgewater loses at Lynchburg.  That particular set of outcomes would make Bridgewater #8 seed.  The #8 seed will host #9 Roanoke on Tuesday the 25th.

There are 3 different teams that might come to HSC.

If the Tigers lose at Roanoke, they'll get a rematch against the Maroons on Tuesday.

If the Tigers win at Roanoke, then they will play one of 3 teams, depending on what happens in a couple of other games, as noted above.

My vote (not that I have one):

COY: Nathan Davis RMC (for the good reasons given above by 2RMCFans)

POY: Andre Simon RMC (in part because D.J. Woodmore was POY last year, and in part because RMC has been more impressive as a team)

FOY: Zack Burnett LC

If I'm not mistaken I think Coach Davis was South Region COY his first season when the team went to the Final Four. The ODAC has a bunch of outstanding coaches. It would be nice if Davis got conference COY, and I'm sure he'd be happy if he did, but as I said above, I doubt he cares enough about it for it to even cross his mind. Simon is certainly a legitimate candidate for POY. But I think the really obvious thing is that R-MC is the Team of the Year, for which there is no vote, just Ws and Ls. I think they truly embody the team concept. I'm not saying other ODAC teams don't, but I think R-MC excels at it.

^ you are so right.  On & off the court this R-MC team is tight.  Their current success comes from their hard work but also from sharing the limelight & setting each other up.   It's a unique chemistry & the Richmond newspaper article on Thursday really illustrated that with the players' quotes.

Whichever programs get these 2014 honors will deserve them.  It's a good thing for all of us fans that there's heavy competition for the awards b/c the ODAC programs are this good.

GO JACKETS!!!

Algernon,
Thanks for correcting me.. meant to type 27.2 and messed that up. Safe travels to all odac teams this weekend and of course Go Marlins. Always a tough place to play

ODACATS

Congrats to all ODAC seniors playing in their final regular season home games today - shout out to Dylan Shifflet and 'Mike E for 3' Ehilegbu for the Randolph Wildcats - signed up to play for one of the best young coaches in the NCAA and to be part of something special in Lynchburg - building a winning tradition in the toughest conference all around - TEAM TOGETHER.

FISHTANKFAN

I believe Colton Hunt was POY last year, not DJ Woodmore. Either Simon or Woodmore would be my picks for this year. I might give the nod to Woodmore because he has had to work with so many new faces this year.  Khory Moore for FOY and Nathan Davis for COY.

Shame on me for spelling Coach Palombo's name with a "u" instead of an "o".  Given his record, he no more deserves to have his name spelled wrong than Macedo deserves to have his name spelled "Maseedo" ... ;)
