I believe Colton Hunt was POY last year, not DJ Woodmore. Either Simon or Woodmore would be my picks for this year. I might give the nod to Woodmore because he has had to work with so many new faces this year.  Khory Moore for FOY and Nathan Davis for COY.

You're right about Hunt last year.

Last 5 years, POY:  Short (RMC),  Sanborn (GC), Phillips (EMU), Woodmore (VWC), Hunt (RAND)

Roanoke with the convincing win over HSC 104-80, first win in the last 8 meetings with the tigers.  Daniel Eacho, a very underrated center with RC had a good game putting up 22 points and 12 rebounds.

wow so i think HSC will take care of business on tuesday at home and then we get HSC vs RMC part 3. No 1 will have to complain about getting tickets to that one

Well, assuming that the Marlins go on to win their game against Guilford this afternoon (which they currently lead 42-21, at the half), this is the ODAC Tournament schedule:

#9 Roanoke travels to #8 Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday.  The winner plays #1 Randolph-Macon at 1pm on Friday.
#10 Shenandoah travels to #7 Bridgewater on Tuesday.  The winner plays #2 Virginia Wesleyan at 6pm on Friday.
#11 Washington & Lee travels to #6 Randolph on Tuesday.  The winner plays #3 Guilford at 8pm on Friday.
#12 Emory & Henry - travels to #5 EMU on Tuesday.  The winner plays #4 Lynchburg at 3pm on Friday.

Thoughts on Pool C:

RMC's definitely into the NCAAs, whether or not they win the ODAC Championship..

Virginia Wesleyan will have a great shot at a Pool C if they get past Bridgewater/Shenandoah in the quarterfinals, even if they lose in the semis.  They'd be 20-7, with 2 solid victories over Guilford, a win over Emory, and maybe a semifinal win against Guilford).

Guilford is almost certainly out of Pool C contention.  Even if they get to the finals before losing, they'd remain 19-9 with their only win against regionally-ranked teams being the November victory over RMC (plus, maybe, a semifinal win over VWC).

Lynchburg has even less chance of a Pool C bid than Guilford.

So I think the ODAC will probably have 2 teams in the NCAAs unless someone other than RMC or VWC wins the tourney (which is entirely possible), which could mean 3 teams in the tournament.

While all the previously mentioned coaches are certainly deserving of being Coach of the Year, it would be remiss of me to not throw Kirby Dean's name into the mix. Finish tied for 4th after being picked 7th and is the only team to have beaten both VWC and R-MC

Really?? In order to get your name mentioned for COY all you have to do is beat two teams picked higher than you in preseason  and finish higher than your own preseason guesswork rankings!
If I may ask, what about the 15-10 record?  I would say their preseason ranking , and the guesswork that goes into that preseason rankings were a little off. After all  EMU had nine (9) returning upper class men . Now that's not saying  at 15-10 they are a bad team or that coach Dean did a bad job, but what it is saying is COY is a bit of a stretch IMHO.
If the record was 15-10 with say (9) first year players then you have a possible COY.

Randolph finished 15-10 with a 9-7 ODAC record in 2011 when Clay Nunley got Coach of the Year. He wasn't a possible Coach of the Year with 9 freshmen, he was in fact the Coach of the Year with 2 freshmen. That team had 7 returning upperclassmen along with 8 sophomores and returned 7 of their 9 players from 2010 that played at least 10 minutes. They did go to the ODAC Championship game, but the award was handed out before Randolph had played a game in the tournament, so obviously those games did not count towards his resume when he received the award.

EMU is 15-10 overall, 10-6 in the ODAC, with only 7 returning upper class men, 2 junior transfers (Marcel Crump, Chris Yoder), 0 sophomores, and 5 freshmen. EMU only returned four players that played at least 10 minutes a game last year. So easily less in the returning experience department than 2011 Randolph. EMU also lost three players from last year not due to graduation who played at least 10 minutes a game, two of which played over 20 a game and one that started all 27 games and was their third leading scorer. Hard to imagine those three guys not being in the rotation yet again this year given that they would be seniors this year.

Regardless if you agree or not with Coach Nunley winning the award in 2011, Kirby Dean is certainly deserving of at least consideration based on precedent.

donho

Coach  Nunley did it with a 4year old program being preseason (9) and ending (5).  Coach Dean was preseason (7) and ended (5). So let's not vote for who actually did the best job, let's vote on precedent.
I agree to disagree with that way of voting.
IMHO no consideration needed, flat out Coach Davis! He took a preseason number one and got the players to  end number one.

albion4

I agree fully with donho ....... Coach Davis deserves to win COY.

^ It sounds like there's a lot of COY consensus for Coach Davis here on the board, which is gratifying to those of us who are his fans.  Gotta wonder what he was thinking about this most excellent season last night when it seriously looked like it might be the Jackets' 6th loss.

The Jackets were just flat (less than 41%) & the Generals, especially D. Kimberly, came to PLAY.  FT's quite possibly were the difference in the game.

It's going to be an exciting week for many teams.  Hope the Jackets get fired up for the tourney & hope everyone has a good time in Salem this year

GO JACKETS!!!

FISHTANKFAN

I don't believe in precedents.  The COY should be given to the coach who did his job better than any other coach at the end of the regular season.  It is not a personality contest where many coaches were over-looked in the past for the wrong reasons.  The ODAC has grown up and there is more parity between the teams than ever before.  The quality of coaching in the ODAC is enviable.  Let's see who the coaches decide upon this year.  They know better than we do who is the most deserving.  We can speculate all we want but we don't vote.

Palombo
Shame on me for spelling Coach Palombo's name with a "u" instead of an "o".  Given his record, he no more deserves to have his name spelled wrong than Macedo deserves to have his name spelled "Maseedo" ... ;)
+1 algernon.  I know it was inadvertent.

FISHTANKFAN

Personally, I would like to see David "Maseedo" win COY, as we would all like our favorite coach to be considered each year.

I like you last two posts FISHTANKFAN!! :)
