Congratulations to all the players in the ODAC, and to those who won honors for their teams.  Have fun today and leave it all on the floor.  A pity all the teams cannot stay until the end on Sunday.  Would make for great crowds and more exciting games plus give the players a mini-vacation for all their hard work this year.  Good luck to all !!!

WAH!  We're gonna need a lot of beer to drown all this sorrow.  Congrats to H-SC-- they came to play & they were by far the better team on both ends for the entire game.  Kudos!

Congrats to all the Conf. honorees & especially to Nathan Davis who may not be feeling it right now, but he is one of the best coaches R-MC has ever had & we like seeing him get some recognition.  Time to REGROUP for the NCAA's.

Good luck to all for the rest of the tourney, we'll be around for the women & of course, the beer.

GO JACKETS!!! GO ODAC TEAMS!

Game started really up beat for H-SC. Was 10- 0.  RMC did not even try a shot until the 16:30 mark as H-SC defense was all over them.  Up almost by 20 at one point and then H-SC up by 10 at half.  On their last five times down the court, they only had 2 points so RMC defense really closed the gap.  2nd half, RMC chipped away to get down by only 4 with about 4 minutes to go.  Remembering how H-SC has had late leads only to lose, it was a nail biter. Finally at the 36 minute point in the game, H-SC shot its first foul shot of the game.  RMC had probably shot 15 by that time. Big Khobi Williamson and little Mike Murray took care of the foul shooting by stretching the lead back to 13.  Has to be a great 101 win for Dee especially against the other team that really won big in the regular season. Maybe a surprised to some but in the last two games, H-SC has shown the talent, desire, character and ability that the early season indicated.  Not through yet but well on way. Go Tigers.

8th seed downs #1 seed by 13

Looks like the H-SC team that has underperformed in so many games this season showed up and played to its full potential. Sad to see the Jackets lose, but I think everyone knows that the top 8 teams in the ODAC are all tough and anything can happen in the tournament. A fast start for H-SC and a slow start for the Jackets appear to have been the difference. I was only able to follow live stats pretty intermittently, so I don't know a lot and am only speculating. I've seen that pattern with R-MC in other games this season where an opponent is hot early in the game (E&H and W&L come to mind) then cools off and the Jackets have been able to get wins. But H-SC is not E&H or W&L, so it's tougher to come back against the quality of team that H-SC is. Congrats to the Tigers. Hopefully R-MC is still in good shape for a Pool C bid into the NCAAs.

It as 12-0 before RMC hit a shot... then the lead jumped to 20 points midway through the half before RMC slowly clawed back and got within three points late in the second half.

The first time I was able to check it was 21-6 H-SC.

It is, as the old saying goes, hard to beat a good team three times in one season.

Hampden-Sydney led by 10 and led the entire second half, generally by 6-12 points throughout the half.  Finally, Randolph-Macon got within 3 points with 4:53 left in the game on a couple free throws by Trent Walker, but Khobi Williamson then scored the next six points to move it back to a 9-point Hampden-Sydney lead with 3:06 left.  Connor Sullivan's free throws got the lead down to 8 points with 1:17 left in the game, but Keegan Wetzel took it back up to 10 points 4 seconds later.  Lamont Moore missed a 3-pointer a few seconds after that and the game was effectively sealed.

Khobi Williamson was outstanding, with 22 points (9 of 13, plus 4 FTs), along with 12 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Mike Murray had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.  His picture is now on the front page of http://www.d3hoops.com

Best game of the year to be a Hampden-Sydney fan .... Great effort by the Tigers!

Kudos to Randolph-Macon on a season that has been so outstanding that they will most assuredly play again in the NCAA tournament next Friday evening!

As Coach Moir suggested on Hoopsville, it looks like the whipping they put on us last Saturday was a wake-up call. Tigers scored the first basket of the game 14 seconds in and led buzzer to buzzer. Impressive given the bevy of foul trouble and Khobi having to sit on the bench from 18:30 to 9:08 in foul trouble, still managed to be up by 5 when he checked back into the game for the last 9:08. Then he came in and took over, scoring 12 of his 22 over the last 9:08 with 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

From 9:00 left in the game to 1:30 left in the game, the Tigers stretched their lead from 5 to 10 points, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 15-10, with Khobi scoring 12 of those 15 Tiger points.

It's sad for the Quaker seniors, but their season is over with an upset loss to Washington and Lee.  What's going on with the Generals here in the tournament?!!!

How about this:

6pm:  #5 Eastern Mennonite (17-10) v. #8 Hampden-Sydney (15-12)

8pm:  #2 Virginia Wesleyan (20-6) v. #11 Washington & Lee (8-19)
